Lord death is now back home

Chapter 1233: The Black Token

Chapter 1233: The Black Token

Peterson Abernathy wasted no words. He gripped his longsword and thrust it toward Chris Shelby's heart. At that moment, Chris Shelby was so close to Peterson Abernathy that there was no way for him to dodge. In the blink of an eye, Peterson Abernathy's sword pierced directly into Chris Shelby's heart. But then, Peterson Abernathy's expression changed dramatically. The Chris Shelby before him gradually faded away-it was just an afterimage.

Peterson Abernathy, a seasoned veteran, immediately realized something was wrong and quickly retreated. Suddenly, he felt a murderous intent behind him. With a swift motion, a sharp sword pierced through his back. Peterson Abernathy froze in shock. Behind him stood Chris Shelby, holding the sword that had penetrated his back.

Chris Shelby pulled the sword out with force, causing blood to splatter everywhere. Peterson Abernathy turned around with great difficulty, looking at Chris Shelby in disbelief. He never expected to die at Chris Shelby's hands, and so easily at that.

"Chris Shelby...," Peterson Abernathy tried to speak, but blood gushed from his mouth like a fountain. The light in his eyes began to fade, and his life force dissipated. He was unwilling to accept this fate; as the head of the Abernathy family, dying in this tomb felt too humiliating.

With a loud thud, Peterson Abernathy's body fell to the ground, his eyes wide open in death. Chris Shelby looked at the body without any expression. Peterson Abernathy should have died long ago. If it weren't for Nathaniel Abernathy's intervention during the previous attack on the Abernathy family, Peterson would have already been dead.

Chris Shelby had refrained from killing him earlier only because of their temporary cooperation. But now that Peterson Abernathy had allied with Daniel Williams to kill him, Chris Shelby had no reason to hold back. Seeing an opportunity when Peterson was severely injured by the white snake, he took it without hesitation.

The surrounding people, including Daniel Williams and Devil's Frown, were shocked by Peterson Abernathy's death at Chris Shelby's hands. Daniel Williams felt particularly uneasy; they had previously joined forces to kill Chris Shelby but failed due to his strength. Now alone, Daniel knew he couldn't hold his own.

"Father!" Grayson Abernathy shouted and rushed over to his father's body, but it was already cold and lifeless. No matter how much he cried out, Peterson Abernathy would never wake up again. "Father, what am I going to do now?" Grayson wept bitterly. He had always lived under his father's protection and now felt lost and terrified in this dangerous tomb.

Grayson glared at Chris Shelby with hatred. First, Chris killed his brother Noah Abernathy; now he had killed their father-a deep-seated grudge indeed. However, Grayson dared not act against Chris because he knew he wasn't strong enough.

Chris Shelby ignored Grayson's hateful gaze. Having killed Peterson Abernathy, Grayson was of no concern unless he sought trouble himself.

Daniel Williams' view of Chris Shelby changed; with Peterson dead, the situation became unfavorable for him. He quickly decided to retreat after pushing back the white snake with a powerful strike. "Let's go!" Daniel shouted without hesitation and left with his men. He knew staying would mean certain death; his only hope was to find the Dragon Emblem fragment and escape quickly. Seeing Daniel leave, Grayson and others followed suit. As Chris Shelby and his group prepared to pursue them, the white snake blocked their path.

"Kill it with me!" Chris shouted as he charged at the snake with his sword. Tiger and others also attacked the white snake simultaneously.

The white snake was incredibly strong, likely having lived for over a thousand years and possibly on its way to becoming a true dragon. However, it still wasn't a match for Chris Shelby.

With a powerful strike from Chris's sword, the white snake was sent flying into a stone pillar. Its large eyes showed fear as it looked at Chris-this human was stronger than any it had encountered before. Seeing the snake hesitate, Chris didn't relent; he charged again with full force. The underground cavern shook violently as stone pillars crumbled around them.

In fear, the white snake opened its mouth wide and spat out a black token before quickly fleeing.

Chris stopped his attack in surprise and picked up the black token from the ground. Examining it closely, he saw small knife-carved characters on its surface. The token felt cool to the touch and seemed made of special material but revealed no other secrets.

Tiger approached curiously and asked, "Boss, what is this?"

Chris shook his head and replied, "I don't know! But it's definitely something valuable!"
