Chapter Forty eight
“Lucian” I called before I felt his familiar hands hold me down stroking my arm.
“I’m here” He answered.
“You didn't leave?” I said smiling. He smiled back at me.
“No. I promised I wouldn't” He reminded me. I practically forced him to stay here with me.
“Why are you dressed?” I questioned when I took in his outfit.
“Nothing” He replied.
“Don’t leave please” I begged him again. I know it's hard to listen when you don't even know what was going on.
“I won't Raina but you need to talk to me. You seem so shaken up. What did you dream about?” He asked looking very worried. I used my right palm to caress his face.
“I just wanted to spend more time with you” I lied. Very stupid of me. He frowned at me.
“I know that's not true,” He said.
“What? How would you know that?” I asked.
“I’m not your favourite person so I don't think you would cry if you wanted me to stay with you” He answered. I decided to twist it up a little.
“I can't be vulnerable with you?” I challenged.
“You know what I mean Raina. Something is really wrong for you to be so shaken up” He continued.
“Drop it, please” I mumbled. He apologized.
“When you want to talk about it” Was his reply. He adjusted our positions to make me more comfortable against his chest as he twirled the end of my hair between his fingers.
“I want to know more about you” He suddenly broke the silence In the room. I groaned.
“Are we really going to do this?” I dreaded the answer yet I knew what his answer was going to be. He nodded responding to me.
“I’ll go first” He offered.
“Ok” I agreed with him.
“Do you snore?” I laughed.
“That’s so_ random,” I said.
“I want to know you not interrogate”
“Ok_ I don't snore” I answered.
“Your question” He moved his fingers to my cheek pulling it gently and then rubbing it. I rolled my eyes up to look at him already staring at my face. I quickly averted my eyes.
“Uhm_” He needs to stop playing with my cheeks. He's distracting.
“Do you like to clean your room?” I asked. He stopped playing with my cheeks for a second before he continued. He then answered me with a question.
“Is there someone who likes to do that?” He asked.
“Yes. I love to clean my room” I answered him.
“Well, I do it because I have to. I do not enjoy any moment of it” He said.
“What_” He started and I stopped him.
“You already asked me a question”
“That shouldn't count” He argued.
“You don't want us starting that argument” I warned him jokingly.
“Fine” He mumbled.
“When was the last time you cried?” I asked him.
“You are bent on embarrassing me, aren't you?“
“It’s just two of us. There is nothing to be embarrassed about when you're with me” I told him.
“Two weeks ago” I was tempted to ask for whatever reason it was but I don't want this moment to get ruined. He wouldn't be very comfortable talking about it.
“My turn,” He said trying to sound as enthusiastic as he was in the beginning but I noticed he didn't sound very excited anymore. This didn't stop him from trying.
“Do you believe in love at first sight” I almost laughed, almost. This wasn't him but answered him.
“We are wolves, isn't that what the whole mate bond is for?”
“We aren't in love” He added.
“We didn't meet under normal circumstances” I reminded thinking back to the second most eventual day of my life.
“Your question”
“Are there any fears you have that you would like to
get over?” I asked. I was genuinely curious.
“Shouldn’t we be eating dinner” He announced standing up.
“Hey! That’s unfair!” I called after him.
“Some other time. We should eat and you need to get some rest” He avoided the talk.
“I’ve been resting all day, I don't need to rest again. Lucian!” He smiled walking back to me. Before I could ask what he was up to he already carried me and that was how he carried me downstairs for dinner avoiding my question successfully.
Charlotte made us dinner and we hugged each other before going to bed. I didn't sleep all night. I didn't feel sleepy and my mind was really filled up with a lot is things that have been happening to me. My thoughts wandered to Henrietta. She behaved weirdly and I knew I had to talk to her if I had done something wrong. I loved her and I wouldn't want to be the reason our friendship did not work out.
When morning came I just stood up brushed my teeth and made my way to Lucian’s room. He had asked me to move in for a week to rest but honestly, I was already feeling like I and lazing around. I knocked on his door. I heard him cussing before he opened the door to reveal in shirtless in only shorts.
“Hey, good morning” He greeted.
“Get dressed and meet me in the kitchen” I instructed.
“Isn't it to early for breakfast?” I laughed at his assumption.
“Who said anything about eating?” I asked him. He frowned.
“What is_”
“Your first cooking lesson. Don't be late” I smiled widely at him as I made my way to the kitchen to get the necessary items needed to prepare a steak and the mashed potatoes.
While waiting for Lucian walked in. I don't if she didn't see me it she hadn't intended to acknowledge me.
“Ri” I called when she wanted to walk out with the bottle of water in her hand.
“Did I do something wrong to upset you?” I asked.
“No Raina. I've just been very busy. How do you feel now” What is it with these siblings avoiding to have serious conversation that entails them being the vulnerable ones. I sighed.
“You’ve been avoiding me since Lucian_ wait. Did Lucian do something to you?” I asked scared of the response.
“Let it be, please Raina. I'll make time to see you later” She promised but something told she was not going to keep the promise.
“Ri_”
“Raina” Lucian called qt the same time. She quickly flashed me a smile before she walked past her brother.
“What’up with the two of you?” I asked.
“Nothing. Why did you ask?” He said curiously,
“I have this feeling you did something. Did you hurt Ri?” I was already getting agitated.
“I wouldn't hurt my own sister. Are we here to cook or you want to continue with the questions?” His voice hard.
“Yeah. Let's get started” I mumbled.
