Chapter Chapter thirteen
As soon as Henrietta left the room I decided to pick the same outfit I wore the day I got here. My knee-length flora outfit and also my best cloth. I brushed my shoulder-length brown hair back with my old hairbrush. I put on my only pair of shoes that I never really got to wear because I’m busy working. I used my hand to wipe the flat black shoes and stare at the mirror looking at myself.
Looking at myself in the mirror all I see is a sad angry young woman trying to live life a little even after all she's been through. I see a young woman who hates everybody for what they put her through. They made her suffer even after all the sacrifices that she and her family made for the pack. This young woman does not think she will ever forgive these people for what they did to her. I tried to tuck my stomach in but it was of no use, I've added more weight now but I knew I wasn't fat. I just didn't like me now.
I hear a knock on the door and I turned to the door asking whoever was behind the door to come in. Henrietta entered with her wild red hair also let down to the right. Her curves were well hugged by the tight jeans she put on with her blue shirt. I looked down to see her footwear and I saw that she was wearing a sandal.
“You look beautiful,” I told her. She smiled at me.
“And you look amazing too” I nervously smiled at her. I never really got complimented. The only comments I've always heard were perverted comments coming from men who wanted to use me but I didn't let them.
“Now let's get going before Lucian gets back,” Rietta said on our way out of the room. When we got out of the room and I closed the door I asked her for what she meant.
“What do you mean by before Lucian gets back?” I asked.
“I don't think he's going to appreciate us going out without anybody” She answered me. I roll my eyes.
“We can protect ourselves, now please let's go before I have to meet with Lucy yet again” Rietta chuckled at my comment but does not say anything about it, instead we move on and get outside of the packhouse.
When leaving the packhouse, the judgemental and annoying comments did not pass me by. One thing I noticed is that for reasons unknown to me not everybody liked me. What I'm saying, nobody here likes me. They all hate me and avoid any sort of contact with me which left me wondering, why?.
“Where are we going?” I asked.
“My favourite restaurant. Get in the car” She said walking over to the driver seat of the car. I waited for her to open the door and I entered the passenger's seat. I used the seat belt of the car and Rietta looked at me.
“Ready?” She asked. No going back right?
“Ready” I replied. She started the engine of the car and zoomed off.
“What are your favourite things to do?” Henrietta asked me trying to bring up a conversation to stop the car from being silent.
“Ahem_let me see, I really don't know. Never had the time to pick out a favourite thing to do” I replied sarcastically. Did she really expect me to have something I liked doing? Aargh.
“Oh. Nothing? Even before your parents?” She asked. I shot her a glare.
“Are you seriously asking me about my dead parents?” I asked, angry that she brought them up.
“I’m sorry, didn't mean to upset you. I was just curious about what your life was then” She replied, her eyes moving back and forth from me to the road as she spoke. I sigh.
“Yeah sorry” I smiled which is clearly forced and said.
“It’s fine” After that she did not try to bring up any conversation whatsoever. She stopped the car when we got to a small brown restaurant.
“It’s small and beautiful,” I said when we both got off the car.
“Yes. That's why I love it” She holds my hands. I looked at our hands together and I remove my hands from hers. I looked away from her to avoid her but I could feel her staring at me. She sighs and walks in anyway.
The hateful look I got from the pack members was the saw look these wolves were giving me. When Henrietta took me to a different side of the place she smiled as she sat down.
“This is my favourite seat” I gave her a tight smile and sat down too. A young girl comes to take our orders. How she tried to avoid talking to me and how she kept looking at me from time to time did not go unnoticed by me. As soon as she left I asked Henrietta the question that has been bugging me.
“Are these wolves also pack members?” I asked.
“No. Why?” I nod my head left and right as I replied to her.
“Nothing. Just curious” was my reply. Our food got here and the waitress still avoided me. When she left I asked Henrietta again.
“Did you notice that?” Rietta looked up from her food with her fork and a mouthful of pasta and she shook her head negative. I smiled at her and started eating my pasta. I finished quickly and realised that Rietta was still not halfway done. Why is she so slow? I wanted more but I didn't ask for it. I just drank the juice in front of me as I took the whole room into sight.
The full room when we both entered was now half empty. I looked at how everyone remaining rushed their food. A frown crawled to my face and I looked at Henrietta angrily. Why does she not notice this? What did I do? Not like I actually care I am just curious as to why these wolves were giving me these weird looks.
“You done?” I asked Henrietta when she rested her back but still has little quantity of pasta left.
“No. Why are you in a hurry? We have the whole day” She seats back forward and starts to eat her food again.
“I want to leave. I am not comfortable” I said. Henrietta looked worried immediately and stopped eating.
“What’s the matter?” She asked.
“Don’t you notice that these wolves her acting all weird when I am around? I do not feel comfortable” I complained.
“I’m sure it's because you are new. There is nothing to worry about” She assures me. I smiled at her and waited till she was done. Henrietta paid for the meal and we both left the empty place. The drive back was very quiet and it felt very uncomfortable for me. Is she like this because I got angry earlier when she tried to start a conversation with me?
“Rietta” I called. She answered with her eyes fixed on the road.
“Uhm”
“Thank you for today. I had a great time” I appreciated her. She smiled but did not take her face away from the road.
“My pleasure”.
“I’m sorry for how I acted. I was trying not to get used to using hanging out” I told her.
“I already told you we can be friends. You will be here now so I don't see us getting parted soon” She said.
“Yeah, I know” I murmured.
