Robert glanced at Kendrick and said nothing. Robert already had a set of countermeasures regarding the Zabel family’s company settling in Yrinas, but it was still immature. In Robert’s eyes, Kendrick would get out of Navarre sooner or later. Charles glanced at Kendrick curiously and asked, “Kendrick, do you know this man?”
Kendrick smiled disdainfully. “He’s just a buffoon that I know. Charles, do you want to talk somewhere else?”
“Okay. Charles nodded and walked to the private room at the side with Kendrick.
In the private room, Kendrick noticed Charles was always staring through the semi–transparent glass at Robert and Naomi sitting by the blackjack table. When Naomi was too intimate with Robert, Charles would unconsciously clench his fists.
“Charles, are you upset with Robert?” Kendrick asked when he handed over a cigarette to Charles.
“I’m so outraged!” Charles took the cigarette, lit it, and sucked it in hard to vent his dissatisfaction. “Who is this man? Where did he come from?”
“Hahaha. Kendrick laughed out loud. “There’s nothing special about him. He’s a poor boy who just graduated from Yrinas University and managed to climb up the social ladder by relying on the Labelle family: Because of this, he thinks he is rich
too.”
“A poor boy?” Charles was confused and angry. He thought to himself, “Naomi would rather be with a poor man than with me?”
“That’s right, but Charles, you don’t have to be so angry. Robert is your lucky star!” Kendrick said as he patted Charles on the shoulder.
“Kendrick, I don’t understand what you mean.” Charles frowned.
“You’re always enjoying life, so you don’t know a lot of things, do you?” Kendrick took a bottle of wine from the cabinet beside him and continued, “Your grandfather is celebrating his birthday this noon. He was so angry at Robert that the former had to be admitted to the hospital. You’re upset with Robert, but your family is even more upset with him. Don’t you want to be appreciated and recognized by your family? Robert was sent to you by heaven.”
“Really?” Charles looked delighted.
“The news about the incident had spread out today.” Kendrick brought a wine glass and poured some wine for Charles. “Charles, after you go home, I have a lot of business to do with you. Think about it. Which of the descendants of the Hoffman family does business outside of Yrinas? If you can collaborate with Zabel Group with me as your business partner, I’m sure your family wouldn’t look down on me, right?”
“Of course! Kendrick, if my family knows that I will be collaborating with you, they will be very happy!” Charles was excited when he imagined the scene where he returns to the Hoffman family and is finally recognized when he forms a collaboration with Zabel Group.
“Then let’s wish us all the best.” Kendrick picked up two glasses and gently clinked them, making a “ding” sound. “Looking forward to working with you!”
“Hahaha, thank you, Kendrick. Let’s go. It’s my treat today.” Charles excitedly drank up the wine in his glass, put his arms around Kendrick’s shoulder, and dragged Kendrick away.
Walking out of the private room, several of Charles‘ men were waiting at the door. Charles waved his hand and sneered, “The man beside Naomi, don’t let him leave easily tonight.”
Charles‘ men immediately knew what he meant. They had done things like this too often; they were very skilled.
A few of Charles‘ men kept their eyes on Robert. They didn’t dare to attack him since this place belonged to the Zabinski family, but they had nothing to worry about when they got out of there.
Before Kendrick left, he gave Robert a meaningful look and then sent a message to Marilyn.
