Life After Undeath

Some ettins soon arrived to fix the roof/flooring, and they said that there was no reason why it should’ve fallen through, which raised questions about how powerful Osiris and I were.

I suggested that perhaps Osiris and I somehow went into some sort of enhanced-abilities mode sometimes; and so the ettins took us to an open field, and then brought some weights to the location and said that we could test out our strength all that we wanted.

Juno and Griff said that they’d help us try to discover what our abilities were; and Osiris and I began to run around, lift weights, do push-ups, and-so-on-and-so-forth; until we were in very-high-energy mode and really getting our groove on, so to speak.

More ettins soon arrived with what looked mostly similar to a basketball hoop, except that there were robotic hands that moved around in front of the hoop, which made it so that you had to time your shots just right in order to get past them.

They had several balls with them, and tossed one at us.

I caught it, and (to my shock!) it started talking to me!

“Sorry! Gotta go!” the ball said, and wriggled out of my grasp and started merrily bouncing away!

Osiris managed to catch up with the ball, and gripped it very firmly!, but it soon escaped from his grasp too!

“You have to toss the ball to each other very quickly!, in order to avoid the ball escaping you!” Juno called out to us, with a laugh; and, so, when I next got my hands on the ball I quickly threw it towards Osiris!

Osiris and I tossed the protesting ball back and forth, and eventually got near the hoop with it!

Throwing the ball into the hoop was a no-go though, because the ball was intentionally swerving just enough to make sure that the electronic hands would block us from making a basket!

We kept on trying to score for a while, in vain, but it seemed impossible!

“This is like a video game that I used to play, where I’d always get stuck at a certain point!” Osiris noted, to which I agreed and said, “There must be some trick to it! We’ll figure it out eventually!”

We kept on trying and trying and trying and trying and trying, until I finally went into such a deranged frenzy that I tried jumping up to slam-dunk the ball!, which was impossible to succeed at because of how high the net was.

Well… It SHOULD’VE been impossible…

I sailed towards the net!, and managed to slip the ball between the robotic hands!

We’d made a basket at last!

Well… almost…

The ball had gotten past the hands, but then swerved again!, and just barely missed actually going into the hoop.

“Wow, honey!” Osiris praised me!, “Nice shot! Definitely the closest that we’ve gotten!”

“Also!” Griff said satisfactorily, “It sure looks like you just managed to go into that enhanced-abilities mode that you were after!”

“That’s great…” I muttered, “But how do I get down from here?”

“Like this!” one of the hands that was blocking the hoop said!, and then slapped me away from the hoop and made me lose my grip!

I had almost hit the ground, when Osiris suddenly! sped over to where I was and caught me before I could potentially “land” in a way that might’ve caused a body part or two of mine to very inconveniently fall off.

“Whoa!” Juno said, excitedly, “That looked like another enhanced-abilities mode episode! You two are doing really well at your training!, especially with the handsball game involved!”

I gave Osiris a quick (but delicious!) appreciative kiss for having caught me, and the two of us high-fived, turned to Juno and Griff and gave them a big thumbs up, and then got right back to our epic and intensive training session!…
