Chapter 15
Chapter 15 You Are The Best
Nathael was momentarily stunned, his black eyes locked onto her, and his Adam's apple moved slightly.
The woman, elegant and breathtaking, looked at him with a serious yet tender expression, as if it were her sincerest desire.
Nathael couldn't articulate his emotions. Even though he knew it wasn't real, in that moment, his heart inexplicably warmed.
He chuckled coldly and said, "Don't think I'll fall for this."
Upon hearing his words, Maggie simply smiled without offering an explanation. In her heart, however, she couldn't help but feel a tinge of regret and wonder, "Is he really not falling for it?" "Do you know about the incident where we were photographed entering and leaving the hotel suite together?"
Maggie suddenly recalled that incident after a moment.
"What's the matter? Are you worried it might tarnish your reputation?" Nathael glanced at her, his voice deep and serious.
Maggie avoided his gaze and whispered, "No, I just wanted to remind you to be cautious, as someone
night use this incident against you."
"Isn't that what you want?" He spoke coldly, a slight lift at the corner of his eyes, his deep gaze tinged with mockery.
Maggie was momentarily stunned, realizing that he might have heard about the rumor that the Camerons were planning a press conference. But if that was the case, why did he still help her today?
Maggie didn't understand, just as she didn't understand why, in her past life, she had hurt him so deeply, yet he still risked his life to save her.
But it didn't matter. Maggie smiled and raised her red lips, saying, "That's true. So Mr. Harris, what's your. plan?"
Nathael stared at her for a moment, his gaze scrutinizing.
She seemed different, as if she had changed from before.
The moonlight was enchanting. Nathael chuckled, unable to resist, and lit a cigarette, holding it in his mouth. "Mutual consent, you're an adult. Presumably, you understand this principle." Maggie was momentarily taken aback. She hadn't expected him to not only not deny what happened that night but also deliberately mislead her, making her think that they had been intimate. Maggie's eyes widened in surprise, and she stared at him in astonishment.
"Mr. Harris, did we... really sleep together?"
Maggie couldn't help but speak, feeling a bit confused herself. She vividly remembered Nathael saying that he hadn't touched her back then, but at that time, she simply didn't believe him. But, but... now?
In the dim light, as she looked at his mist-covered face, which was both roguish and cold, Maggie fell into contemplation.
No, no, no. In her past life, Nathael had no reason to deceive her.
Moreover, aside from the headache after drinking, she didn't feel anything else.
Tsk. he was quite the actor.
After realizing this, Maggie raised an eyebrow and couldn't help but give Nathael a once-over, her gaze filled with disdain.
Nathael narrowed his eyes and asked in a deep voice, 'What's the matter?"
Maggie casually averted her gaze, sighed, and said, "It's nothing. I just thought that appearances can be deceiving. Mr. Harris..." Pausing for a moment, as if hesitating to spare his feelings, she found it difficult to continue.
Nathael's cigarette paused between his fingers as he waited for her to continue.
"Mr. Harris, you don't seem to perform very well. Maggie muttered in a low voice, her words tinged with a hint of complaint.
Alex, who had been pretending to be dead all this time, heard these words. He hesitated on the accelerator, causing the car to sway as if he couldn't decide whether to brake or not.
Oh my goodness!
Was this the kind of information he gets for free?
Nathael chuckled in exasperation.
It seemed like he had dug himself into a hole.
"Say that again!" Nathael's eyes were intense, staring at her as he squeezed out a few words through clenched teeth.
Maggie made the decision to step back. She narrowed her eyes and looked at him, speaking gently, "I meant to say that you're amazing, fruly amazing! You should have confidence in yourself. You're the best!" Maggie's eyes sparkled with admiration.
It was clearly insincere and affected, so fake that it couldn't be any more fake, yet somehow it left him. speechless.
Nathael and Alev both remained silent.
The atmosphere in the car became silent, with no conversation during the journey. Alex drove around the residential area multiple times, keeping his ears perked up and paying attention to any movements in the back seat. It wasn't until a moment later that the partition in the rear compartment was opened. He breathed a sigh of relief and finally drove the car into the residential area,
Nathael's eyes drooped slightly, and it was unclear what he was thinking. His complexion didn't look too good, with a faint hint of irritation.
Soon, the car came to a stop, and Nathael got out.
Maggie looked at the familiar yet unfamiliar courtyard and suddenly realized that she had followed Nathael back home.
Maggie was stunned.
Just as Maggie was about to get out of the car to leave, Alex's phone rang. He then said, "Ms. Adam, Mr. Harris invites you to come in."
Maggie looked towards the direction of the gate, hesitating for a moment.
On a personal level, she wanted to stay.
In her previous life, even though she shared a bed with Nathael for several years, perhaps because she had built emotional barriers, she never truly understood him.
So, in this lifetime, she wanted to start anew and genuinely get to know him, understand him, and protect him.
However, she wasn't sure if her changed attitude towards Nathael was the reason for his different treatment of her compared to their previous life.
At least, in her previous life, he seemed more like an upright gentleman.
Maggie struggled internally. What she feared was not something else but the worry that she might not be able to resist temptation and end up completely consumed by him.
After all, the dark desire in his eyes didn't seem to be fake.
After struggling for a few seconds, Maggie still followed him inside. In her previous life, Nathael endured all those years of sharing a bed with her without touching her. Now, she should believe in him. Moreover, she was afraid he wouldn't believe her regarding the Camerons' press conference.
After Maggie went upstairs, Nathael happened to unbutton two buttons on his shirt.
Hearing the movement, he glanced at her and said in a deep voice, "You don't seem satisfied with that night."
Maggie blinked.
you're much stronger!"
At her words, Nathael's gaze seemed to sharpen, becoming colder and more intense.
He tugged at his thin lips, approached her, and spoke in a low voice, "It seems like you have a lot of experience.
Maggie forced a dry laugh and took two steps back, regretting that she had put herself in a vulnerable position.
She must have owed him a lot in her previous life!
"Well, it was just average, Maggie modestly replied. Before she could take another step back, her wrist grabbed, and she was pulled towards him. Nathael's large hand tightly gripped her wrist, exerting considerable force.
"Mr. Harris..."
was
Nathael's eyes had a hint of darkness, and he squeezed out a few words through clenched teeth, "Who took you to find those people?"
"Huh?"
"Did you have fun, huh?" The man's voice was cold and stern. His eyes seemed to devour.
"Well, it was quite enjoyable." Maggie swallowed hard, her throat tightening. She didn't quite understand his thought process at the moment but could feel the tension in the veins on his forehead. His dark. expression was intimidating.
"Ouch!"
The grip on her wrist tightened, and Maggie subconsciously frowned, attempting to evade. It felt as if her bones were about to be crushed by his grip.
Nathael stared at her for a long time. After a while, he suddenly let go, chuckled coldly, and said, "If you don't want Joseph to be ruined, you better not provoke my anger again."
