Legends of Kepler: The Dragon & The Woman

Chapter CHAPTER VII: INHERENCE (2)

However, the girl got stuck in the circle, paralyzed. She knelt before the pressure of the fire, and the visions of her people screaming in pain began to appear in her head. The images of the gray episode that disturbed her mind, came intensely alive. The voices of despair began to be tangible, for not only did she hear them, but she felt a sharp pain throughout all her body, when she focus her mind on these energies. Amalia fell and covered her eyes, the Lexicon of Leyra fell slowly, and when it touched the ground, a wave of a very bright color emerged involuntarily, which became physical for a few moments.

The wave moved away the circle of fire, and expanded it until the fire pulverized.

“What happened?” asked the dragon. “You had never reacted like this. Your mind just had a psychic break.”

“I’m too afraid Argôn,” said the woman. “Uncertainty is devouring me.”

“What are you afraid of, now?”

“Some dreams, some visions” she explained. “I only explore pain and hardships in them. It has become recurring. It’s the imminence of an evil, which dismiss and corrupt the only thing for what I´m living for. What will be of me, if this happens Argôn?”

“But what exactly is going to happen?” asked the dragon.

“The destruction of my people; the murder of my family, barbarians accompanied by evil shadows. My mother is taken from me before my own eyes.” she said with her eyes flooded with tears.

Argôn was confused, not knowing what to answer.

“I don’t know what this evil is, Argôn” she said. “I don’t know where does it come from. It is not seen, not in the dreams. Sometimes there are dark presences. Giants, or often wild humans, or sometimes a mixture of both. The end is always the same: nobody survives, except for one person, me.”

“While they are shouting at me, and every fragment of my heart is torn apart” she exclaimed. “I saw the destruction of my entire humble and harmless home. We do not deserve this, Argôn. I can’t live without my mother. I can’t live without them.”

“Okay, calm down” said Argôn. “Maybe it’s just a moment of confusion for you. You are learning new things and perhaps, this is altering the order of your mind; this process of manifesting life itself into reality is exhausting. Everything you think of is complicated. You need to simplify your thoughts. The terrestrial beings are the most mysterious beings, since it is not known what Elgoneth’s purpose is for you, but the right paths are what lead us to divinity. The right way, is the balanced one. This should be happening to teach you something. Therefore, Elgoneth would never allow such misery to fall unto your people; your town is an honest and a loyal one, and both you and your family have the best of hearts.”

Amalia, hearing the creature’s voice, managed to calm down a bit.

“To be sure” he continued, “I will talk about this with someone superior. He has the ability to see future times, for small periods. He is very powerful, and he is the wisest I know. I know he would give me a concrete answer. For now, go home. You must rest, spend time with your family. That will help you.”

“Remember, I’m always taking care of you” said the dragon. “And we are always watching you. I will never allow anything to happen to you or your people. You are under divine protection.”

“Thank you, Argôn” the sorceress responded as she kissed him on the dragon’s huge cheek.

That night Adelia and Lelio, met and called some of their family and friends. A great gathering for dancing, although private and very personal, was taking place at their home. The music was accompanied by a fire whose flames waved over the positive energy of people. It was a very cheerful night, which undoubtedly distracted the mind of the magical maiden; she was having fun with her people.

Adelia was in one of the retired pilasters, watching. Her thoughts kept appearing one after another; but each one of them oriented towards the same direction: What is in her daughter´s mind?

“Madam” a loud voice suddenly appeared, “How are you?”

“Good enough, professor Émufas” responded the woman.

“A thoughtful day today, don’t you think?”

“Very thoughtful, indeed.”

“But not enough to let go the unnoticed star that shines between us.” exclaimed the professor, while they both watched the young sorceress.

“It’s a beautiful truth” says Adelia.

“Yes, it is! Very beautiful” he exclaimed. “Although, not everything that brings her stay is beauty and happiness.”

“What do you mean?” asked Adelia.

“I don’t know, ma’am,” said the man. “Why would you send such a powerful being to such a distant and peaceful town?”

“To bless us?”

“None of these beings come for free, Adelia” he said. “She has a price to pay. And it will be paid, with the disruption of the harmony of this people. The greater the good, the greater the evil that pursues it. Chaos is coming, and the girl knows it. She perceives it; she does not know how to react because all she knows is peace and love. She knows no war; she knows no pain, neither of its extensions of suffering. She does not know the blood, nor the raw side of life. She is our light, but a light shining so bright that will end up dulling us. And eventually, we will be left behind.”

“What things are you saying now old man?” she responded.

“We are only an instrument for her. A stage in her life, and someday we will be erased.” continued the professor. “Do you not see it? This being is destined to exorbitant realities where we do not belong. After what needs to be learned, our people will be forgotten. Nor will she remember us.”

“Get away from me old snake!” she shouted.

“She is bigger than you, Adelia” said the man. “She is bigger than all of us. Do you think she will take us to heaven? She brings ceaseless hell with her!”

“There are no roses without thorns, and there is no path to heaven that is a path without difficulties” said the woman. “Your words only discourage yourself, for you don’t know what you are saying; blinded in your ignorance. Now, stay away from me, crazy old man. I will not say it again.”
