Legends of Amacia The Caverias Rebellion

Chapter 7: Inside the Tower Cell

Selina awoke in the Tower dungeon eighteen hours after Nemesis left her. At the Emperor’s order, he treated her battered body that had been mercilessly tortured and nearly killed by Ahriaman...the Cadre’s leader as he tried to break her will almost thirty-six hours earlier. Nemesis’ medical treatment of her wounds from the torture without a doubt saved her life, for which she was grateful. Her ribs throbbed and her head hurt along with nearly everything else on her. The places on her wrists and ankles were no longer oozing blood and her strength had returned enough for her to move around just a little. She lay on her cushion and yawned, with painful results. Thirst had her, so she slowly managed to sit up and look around for the pitcher of water that had been left. She found it exactly where Nemesis had left it, along with a cup and a plate of now stale bread. Her lips burned for water, so she went to grab the pitcher with her left hand and squalled with pain as she tried to use that hand. Cursing herself for not remembering that her left hand was inoperative, she grasped her wrist until the pain subsided enough for her to let go. Again, she tried to get the water, this time with her right hand. Success, though it caused her wrist to throb a bit as she lifted the pitcher. It was a gallon pitcher roughly two-thirds filled. She lifted the pitcher to her lips and sipped it carefully. Before long, she had drunk almost a quart of water out of the pitcher. Pain in her right wrist forced her to put the pitcher down, though the water quenched her thirst a bit. She laid back down and sighed deeply, feeling ill. Her appetite was practically nonexistent.

She looked around the cell through the haze of her pain, trying to remember what had happened. Had Nemesis really come to her? The food and water was evidence enough for her. However, she had no idea how long she had been asleep. Had she slept past Hanna’s coming? She tried her link to Hanna and found her very, very distant, almost gone. She feared and began to weep, crying, “Where are you my love? Where are you?” As she wept, she suddenly became aware that since her imprisonment in the Tower, she hadn’t had access to proper toiletry. This thought came out of nowhere and it startled her, causing her to stop crying. She looked around again. There was no toilet, only a drain in the floor near where she was laying. She then happened to look at herself and saw that the scandalous leather teddy that she had come in with was gone and replaced with a slightly more modest one that covered her breasts to just above the nipples.

For a moment, she puzzled over it, and then smelled a lingering odor of urine and feces on the air. It didn’t take her long to realize it was her. She was utterly embarrassed and humiliated by the ramifications of it. She had soiled herself like a baby while asleep and someone had come and cleaned her up the best they could, giving her change of clothes. The humiliation was extreme but at the same time, there was gratitude that someone in this infernal place would care enough to do that, though she had absolutely no recollection of it. She rolled on her side and whimpered softly, whispering “Please hurry, my love. I don’t know how much more I can take of this.”
