Legends of Amacia Heart of Darkness

Chapter 41: Angelic Guardians in the Darkness

While they talked, the archangel Gabriel witnessed everything from a hiding place just inside the wall near where everyone sat gathered around Selina. He looked out into the room and saw the various guardian angels around the women. Around the perimeter of the room, fierce demoniac guards with large swords drawn, standing guard. Some of them taunted and mocked the guardians of the women. Small, imp-like demons buzzed around them, constantly testing the guardians’ resolve, picking at them like a swarm of gnats and mosquitoes. Gabriel watched this and smiled, seeing that the guardians were keeping their charges safe from the constant attacks. He noticed one particularly large guardian that was Selina’s bodyguard. He sat with her, sword ready at all times. Gabriel sank into the floor and moved through the floor toward him and Selina, completely unseen by the demon guards or the imps. Upon reaching them, he carefully peeked up out of the floor and called to Selina’s bodyguard. “Guildo; down here,” he whispered.

Selina’s bodyguard glanced down at his feet and saw Gabriel’s face in the cushion. He pretended not to see and resumed his watch as he asked softly, “What is it, Gabriel? What brings you into this place of darkness this day?”

“The remnant of Amacia is moving,” Gabriel whispered. “Nemesis has shown himself to Hanna, and it won’t be long before her silent partner will show himself. Be ready. The battle is joined. I’ll go and inform Michael. Keep them and her safe. Reinforcements are coming, my friend.”

“Good. Keep the prayers coming; we need them,” Guildo replied with a whisper. “It was particularly difficult to keep them from interfering with the link between Selina and Hannibal. But we managed to do it. We had to set up a perimeter shield to do it.”

Good work, Guildo,” Gabriel commended. “The prayers are starting to have an effect on the Darkness. They’re being blinded by it. Hold the line, Guildo, and watch for the signal from Nemesis. He’ll be the key to getting Selina and the remnant out of here.”

Guildo sighed and whispered, “Thanks for the heads up. Go, my friend and be safe from evil.” Gabriel vanished out of the cushion and Guildo motioned for the closest guardians to gather around, at which time he reported the news to them. It greatly strengthened their resolve. Guildo then touched Selina on the shoulder and whispered into her ear, which strengthened her resolve, putting her at peace with her situation.

Gabriel slipped out of the fortress without being seen by diving deep underground and then racing to the south toward Antarctica where the archangel Michael waited under the ice with three divisions of his best warriors. Gabriel flew through solid rock as if it were air, emerging from the sea floor off the coast of Patagonia. Like a missile, he emerged from the sea and streaked toward the icepack of Antarctica. As he approached Mt. Sidley in West Antarctica, he slowed and took a crash dive into the ice on the slopes of the volcano, passing through three thousand feet of ice before entering into a giant ice cavern that housed the remnants of a great antediluvian city destroyed in the same cataclysm that sank Amacia miles underground: the Deluge.

As Gabriel flew over the city, he saw three divisions of Michael’s best warriors waiting around the ruined palace. He immediately went to the palace and found Michael receiving intelligence reports from other angels. When Gabriel entered, Michael came and greeted him with a brotherly embrace. “Gabriel,” Michael said, very pleased to see him. “What news do you have you for us today? Good, I hope.”

Gabriel smiled and said, “You could say that. Everything is playing out exactly as the Lord said it would. The Emperor moved on Arionath, trying to cull the lot of them while Hannibal and Selina were captured by the Emperor’s forces under the leadership of Hades.”

“Hades?” Michael asked. “The Emperor must have been pretty hard up to call him in.”

Gabriel smiled, saying, “Yes. He must have. Anyway, Hannibal and Selina have made contact with the remnant inside Amacia and they are presently assisting him in an escape. Hannibal has had his Gethsemane, been mutated into his female counterpart, Hanna, and is now starting to merge his male and female parts to become a completed soul, as the Lord foretold. He has come through it ready to do the Lord’s will without question. His special guardian has also assisted greatly in his escape. He’s nearly ready to show himself. The Black Prince’s own creations are turning against him. Magnus and Nemesis have turned against the Emperor and are with the remnant, with Magnus physically taking Hanna out of Amacia as I speak.”

Michael grimaced a little, saying, “Ohhh, I bet that really sticks in the craw of the Black Prince.”

Gabriel nodded. “It sure does,” he replied with a wry smile. “He has sent out everyone to find Magnus, Hanna, and whoever helped them get away. But it’s too late. They’re already away. Princess Amelia leads a team to meet Hanna in the Blister Fields, and the people are nearly moved to Acheron. The Emperor is going to go ballistic when he finds out that both Hanna and the people of Arionath got away.”

Michael smiled, saying, “That’s an understatement. What of Selina; how’s she holding up in her place?”

“She seems to be doing fine at the moment. Hannibal’s mutation into Hanna threw her for a loop initially, but she’s accepted it now since hearing the mutation portion of the prophecy from Izanami and seeing Hannibal mutated into Hanna. She prays constantly for a way to reverse that mutation. Moreover, hope rises in the dungeons because Hanna declared the end of the Emperor’s reign to them as she was being taken to the Arena. Guildo and the other guardians are keeping the sisters in the Harem from harm for the moment. They now have great hope where before they had none. Because of Selina, they know not only that Hanna escaped, but also that she’ll come back for them. Guildo asks that the prayers keep up. They’re definitely having an effect on the enemy. Selina and Hanna communicated with their telepathic gift and were not detected because of it.”

Michael clapped his hands together and lifted his head, praising the Lord. “Oh, the Lord God is so righteous and just,” he chimed. “Things are indeed happening just as He said. I just received word that the Prince of the North and Dezarcus made their alliance just a few hours ago, and are moving against the Prince of the West. Everything is coming into position.”

“That it is, my friend,” Gabriel said jubilantly. “The Lord is ready to do battle. We need to position inside Amacia and be ready to act. Nemesis has done a superb job in gathering the remnant inside the city. When linked up with Hanna and Selina, all of the Lord’s people will be brought out of there just as Lot was brought out of Sodom. Prepare yourself, my friend. Position your forces and keep them hidden. The signal will come from Hanna and Nemesis. That’s directly from the mouth of the Lord Himself.”

Michael smiled and looked to his troops, shouting, “The time is now, my friends! Let us position ourselves and be ready to act!” A roar of praise for the Almighty rose from all of the angels and they began to move out, heading toward Amacia. Gabriel, on the other hand, went back to the throne room of the Almighty Ancient of Days for new orders.
