Legacy of Darkness

Chapter Uneasy Alliances

Lumina, Syl, Atlas and Helios walked toward the secure Gravatia Academy dock at the airship port. All of them were wearing face masks because of the air quality, and Lumina was wearing the glamour of a prison escort, Helios had his hands in handcuffs.

They reached the checkpoint and were stopped by an Academy guard.

"Who is this?" He asked Lumina.

"Imperial Spy, we spotted him trying to scope out the resistance HQ" Lumina explained. "These are the ones who discovered him, I'm taking them in for questioning too" She added.

"Go on ahead. I'll let the guys at the Blacksky Facility know you're en route" The guard nodded. The group walked through the checkpoint. "Oh, and soldier" The Guard said.

"Yes?" Lumina asked.

"Good job" He nodded, and waved her away.

The group remained silent as they boarded the airship to Gravatia Academy. The airship took off and shot up through the smog, and flew to the floating island above Demi. It came in to land at a small patch of land on the edge of the island.

The group stepped off of the airship and looked at the Academy. It had been stained black by the years of pollution, and although they were above the majority of the smog, the air was still unbreathable.

Students walked the grounds with facemasks. A female soldier walked over.

"Hello there, I'm Selene, here to escort you to the Blacksky Facility" She nodded, as she held a rifle in her hand, she was around Roisin's age, with long brown hair.

"Oh, right, will the Headmaster be there?" Lumina asked.

Selene gave Lumina a strange look, Lumina realised her mistake.

"Oh, I apologise, I'm new here" Lumina bowed. Selene chuckled slightly.

"Don't worry about it, I've only been in charge here a year" Selene smiled. Atlas stood forward.

"I'm sorry ma'am, we've come here under false pretences" Atlas admitted.

"Atlas!" Lumina scowled. Upon hearing the name Selene's eyes widened.

"Atlas... Luna?" She asked.

"Yeah?" Atlas shrugged.

"THE Atlas Luna?" She asked again.

"The one and only" He laughed. Selene hugged Atlas, which took him by surprise. Upon realising what she had just done, she backed away.

"Sorry" She apologised. "After the Battle of the Skarlit Skies, you became my hero" She smiled. "How can I help you?" Selene asked.

"Well, we're reforming the Council of the Academies" Atlas began.

"We? Only headmasters can do that, I thought?" Selene asked.

"Well, in a twist of fate, I'm not the Headmaster of Disceath Academy" Atlas smiled.

"And I was made Headmaster of the Imperial Academy" Helios cowered.

"You're working with the Imperials?" Selene grunted.

"No, one million times, no" Atlas replied. "They are one of the Academies, so they needed to be informed, you don't need to worry about him" He added.

"I'll trust your word, since you are, well... you" Selene smiled.

"They also have me" Lumina said, as she clicked her fingers to reveal her true form. "Lumina of Lumina Academy" Lumina smiled.

"Really, Lumina?" Syl sighed.

Selene gasped, upon recognising her.

"I know, you'll want to kill me, but we do not have time for that, we need to reform the council before myself, Roisin and Abyssia are to face the Benevolent Benefactors" Lumina explained.

"Shut up Lumina" Helios sighed. Selene took a moment to gather her thoughts.

"I should kill you where you stand" She began. "All of you" She added. As she paced back and forth.

"I would crush you in mere seconds" Lumina scowled.

"Seriously, give it a rest, Lumina" Syl sighed with frustration as he rubbed his forehead.

"But I will join you" Selene nodded. "On one condition" She added.

"Anything" Atlas smiled.

"Free Demi" Selene stated. "End the Empire's grasp on this city for good, and turn off them damned smoke stacks" She roared.

"Sounds good to me" Atlas smirked.

"I'm up for that" Syl nodded.

"But..." Helios sighed. "I'll wait on the Blue Falcon and pretend I didn't see anything" He nodded.

"That would probably be for the best, aye" Selene grinned.

"I shall slaughter all the Imperials for you before the day is done" Lumina winked.

"No!" Selene gasped, as she ran over to Lumina. "I just want them out of the city" She said.

"Hmm, perhaps I shall wait with Helios aboard the Blue Falcon" Lumina shrugged.

"While your powers would be advantagous, I personally don't trust you enough to take you with us" Atlas nodded.

Syl remained silent and stared at Lumina. Lumina looked at him and shrugged.

"It shall take a few days to ready the revolution, so those of you willing to fight, are free to remain here at the Academy" Selene smiled. "However, I will have you two taken back to the Blue Falcon. I swear that no attempts will be made on your life, as long as you behave yourselves" Selene promised.

"Very well" Lumina sighed. "I would have teleported there, but recent events have robbed me of my greater powers" She explained.

"Don't care, bye" Selene shrugged, as she walked away with Syl and Atlas. Lumina shrugged back and looked at Helios.

"You're kinda different than I imagined" Helios chuckled.

"How do you mean?" Lumina asked.

"You're more human than I thought you'd be" Helios smiled.

"Do you want me to kill you?" Lumina scowled, as she turned and walked back to the airship. Helios shrugged and followed her aboard.
