Chapter Cruising
Roisin was sat at the dining room table on board The Wild Rose, eating some breakfast cereal, it was morning. Wes was making himself some pancakes from breakfast.
"So, where are we actually heading now?" Wes asked as he focused on cooking.
"I'm not quite sure, staying in Disceath seems a bad idea right now, but we have no real leads to follow up on" Roisin pondered. "I suppose we could revisit Terrana, see how it is recovering" She shrugged, as she continued to eat her cereal.
"Hmm, maybe..." Wes nodded.
"It's been a long time since I didn't really have an objective" Roisin sighed. "This has been the first time I've been able to relax in the last three years" She added.
"I suppose even when you were at the Academy, you were watching your back" Wes smiled.
"Not well enough, though. Lumina and Skylar were like vultures waiting to strike" Roisin replied, as she finished her cereal.
"I wish I'd have been more use to you back then... I was so busy being vile to Anya..." Wes frowned.
"You've changed though, and you did try to help me, and that's worth a lot" Roisin winked.
"I guess" Wes nodded and smiled slightly. Ariel walked into the kitchen area and yawned.
"Morning" She said as she stretched.
"Morning Ariel" Roisin smiled.
"Pancakes?" Wes offered.
"Oh yes please" Ariel grinned, she sat down at the table. "Hey, Roisin, did we hear back from Rychard yet?" She asked.
"Not yet, but I imagine he's pretty busy righting the wrongs that Bryan did" Roisin replied.
"Hmm, maybe, but we've not heard a peep out of him since we left Disceath" Ariel pondered.
"It is a little weird, I guess" Roisin nodded. "Want me to try and contact Crystech?" She asked.
"Nah, like you say, he's probably just busy. My mind loves to second guess everything" Ariel shrugged and laughed.
"Except your friendship with me" Roisin beamed.
"Of course" Ariel chuckled. Wes brought some pancakes over on a plate for Ariel, and she began eating them, Wes also grabbed a plateful of them and sat down.
"So, where exactly are we at the moment?" Wes asked Roisin.
"We're cruising over the ocean between Disceath and Ishtall still, should hit land by tonight" Roisin explained.
"How is it that you are so good at airship stuff, but terrible at most other things?" Ariel teased.
"Uncle Atlas, of course! And I'm not terrible at most other things" Roisin chuckled.
"Okay, some other things" Ariel winked.
"I'll settle for that" Roisin laughed.
Footsteps rang out from the ladder that lead down from the observation deck, it was Anya.
"Oh, I didn't realize you guys were awake" Anya smiled.
"Morning, Anya, have you slept?" Ariel asked.
"A little" Anya smiled as she sat down. "I'm doing better, day by day" She added.
"As long as you are doing okay, if it gets worse, let me know and I will see if I have something for you" Ariel smiled.
"I will, thank you" Anya nodded. "I've just watch the sun rise over the ocean, the sea was sort of an orange-y red colour" Anya said as she smiled.
"I love watching the sunrise" Roisin nodded.
"It's peaceful, especially when everyone else is asleep. It feels as if you are the only one seeing the sun, it helps" Anya explained.
"I know what you mean, early morning can be amazing, it just makes you feel so at peace" Wes agreed.
"I prefer watching the sun set, seeing all the hustle bustle of a city settle down, the streetlights flickering on as the sky turns orange" Ariel smiled.
"Both have something special about them, they're both amazing to watch" Roisin smiled.
"What's the plan for today then?" Ariel asked Roisin.
"Hmm, there's not really much to do, we can run through a few diagnostics, but other than that, we're just cruising" Roisin explained. "That said, we're making landfall tonight, so we could make a few course alterations, make sure we're taking the right routes" She added.
"Where is the route set to right now?" Anya asked.
"The Western Continent, but we don't really have anywhere to go" Roisin shrugged.
"I want to see Inchaya" Anya smiled.
"Hmm, I've never been there either" Roisin nodded.
"I went once, when I was a little kid, it's a nice city" Wes smiled.
"That's that settled then" Roisin nodded. "We're going to Inchaya!" She cheered.
"Ros! You're gonna wake the others!" Ariel said in a hushed tone.
"Crap!" Roisin buried her face in her hands, while Wes and Anya chuckled.
"Well, it is 10am, maybe it's time they woke up" Ariel smiled.
The Wild Rose flew on across the ocean, as the sun rose higher in the skies above.
