Chapter 492

Chapter 492

Millie felt trapped in a web created by Joanna with the help of Winston. It was suffocating, like falling into an abyss. Millie closed her eyes, trying to calm down. Nevertheless, her mind was clouded and stifled. Marvin grasped Millie’s wrist firmly, attempting to soothe her.

Millie looked at Seah. “Thank you, Sean.”

She thanked him for telling her the truth.

Sean frowned. “So are you still planning to leave?”

She contemplated whether to stay in Chirea and confront Joanna or to pursue studying abroad. Undoubtedly, this was a tough decision.

For three entire years, Joanna kept this secret from Millie.

The mere thought of Joanna’s face and all the injustices she had experienced because of Joanna filled Millie with such rage that she felt the urge to confront Joanna right away. Although she rarely criticized Joanna, this time, she was truly tempted to lash out and call her a bitch.

Millie also acknowledged her own responsibility in the matter. While she insisted that she didn’t want to rely on this incident to gain Winston’s affection, it ultimately became a stepping stone for Joanna to win over Winston. It was truly ironic.

A loud announcement was made over the loudspeaker, urging the passengers who hadn’t yet boarded to board immediately. As Millie gazed at the boarding screen in the distance and observed the scenic view outside the window, she felt anxious.

Should she go, or should she stay? This was the question lingering in her mind.

Breaking the silence, Millie turned to Sean. “Does Winston know about it?”

As Sean was about to reply, a hoarse and trembling voice behind him proclaimed, “He was unaware before, but now, he is aware…”

Millie stopped and looked back, noticing Winston standing nearby. He was wearing a thin jacket over a hospital gown. He appeared drenched, and his sleeves were even dripping.

His pale face and dark, sunken eyes had stripped away his once compelling charm. Millie observed him with concern, realizing that he looked really terrible.

“Winston… Sean called out first.

Winston was tense when he saw Sean. He wondered if Millie was going abroad with him. The atmosphere was owkward and silent.

At last, amidst the silence, a few startled voices broke through. “What an extraordinary day it is today! Ms. Caldwell and Mr. Stringer are here, and now Mr. Greer has arrived…”

“Mr. Greer seems disheveled. Weren’t they divorced a few days ago? Is he here to try to find his wife?”

“Haha. Is this the typical plot found in novels where the scumbag hurt his ex, only to later realize he’s in love with the wrong person and seeks to reconcile with his ex–wife?”

Laughter filled the air, yet their gazes intensified as they fixed their eyes upon the duo.

When Winston gazed into Millie’s eyes, he felt a piercing ache in his heart. It was as if she regarded him as a complete stranger, a passerby. She was unaffected and indifferent.

Three years ago, her eyes would light up every time she saw him. Not to mention how much she loved him four or five years ago…

Marvin glared at Winston with irritation. “Why are you here?”

Winston lowered his head and averted his gaze.

Marvin exclaimed angrily, “Winston, I would find a place to die right now if I were you! You don’t even know who saved you? What a fool.”
