Chapter League 486

Chapter 486

The rain hit the car window relentlessly, intensifying Winston’s irritation.

“Where is she? Hurry!” Winston’s voice was slightly muffled, with a hint of hoarseness.

Eli turned around and replied with concern, “Ms. Caldwell is currently at the airport.”

“Airport?” Winston was surprised.

Eli glanced at the time, realizing the plane would depart in just an hour. They might not be able to catch up. “Mr. Greer, Ms. Caldwell is devastated. She’s leaving to study abroad.”

He went to the ward intending to take Winston to see Millie directly. Upon discovering Joanna there, he seized the opportunity to disclose the truth, resulting in a slight delay.

Winston felt increasingly anxious after hearing it. Recognizing the urgency, he quickly opened the car door and hurried out.

“Mr. Greer?” Eli frowned and stepped out of the car too.

The rain poured down, its relentless drops beating against Winston as he made his way around the front of the car. Then, he pushed Eli aside to get in.

Eli was taken aback. “Mr. Greer?”

Winston secured his seat belt, rolled down the car window, and

commanded, “Send me the details of the flight.”

Afterward, he drove off, his wheels displacing the water droplets on the ground. The rain poured from the sky to the ground, mirroring the storm in his heart.

the downpour intensified. Passing cars sounded their horns in disapproval, signaling their dissatisfaction with the car’s speed within the city limits.

Driving with one hand on the steering wheel, he reached for his pho with another. He dialed Millie’s number, the same number he had used to hang up on her countless times before.

However, she had already blocked him, so his calls went unanswered. Winston felt frustrated when he heard the mechanical sound of no

response.

He tried calling Millie using another phone number, which made him feel hopeful. But after several rings, the call went silent.

Left with no other option, Winston decided to send her a text message. Millie, I’m heading to the airport right now, and there’s something important I need to share with you.”

“Wait for me, Millie.”

“I know everything. Don’t leave. I can find you no matter where you go.”

He constantly sent her text messages.

Just as he drove, a sudden blare of the horn startled Winston. A vehicle’s headlights shone directly at him.

He quickly reacted and turned the steering wheel to avoid hitting the truck. Realizing the danger, he decided to set his phone aside and

accelerate.

Winston’s grip on the steering wheel tightened. His mind flooded with vivid memories of his time with Millie, playing out like scenes from a movie. The pain was unbearable.

Back then, he was a senior in high school, and Millie was a freshman. He liked to fight but couldn’t win every time.

Millie came from a medical family. So whenever he got hurt, he always went to her to treat his wounds. Her quick and proficient care always resulted in beautifully healed wounds, leaving no scars or lingering effects.

He knew that Millie was knowledgeable and skilled in medicine. However, he started to believe what everyone said about Millie being failure in the medical field.

He was so foolish for believing in the words of those people. He should have known what kind of person Millie truly was.

She was an innocent, radiant, and bubbly person. She would never stoop so low as to falsely accuse Joanna.

As the eldest daughter of the Caldwell family, she was always pampered since her childhood. Millie would never waste her time with trivial matters or harbor any ill intentions.

He was simply too dumb to see through it all.
