Laura’s Victory Second Chance

Chapter 41

Chapter 41

The black wooden door creaked open, revealing Easton seated in his wheelchair, who dressed in a black outfit. Even though his face was covered by a black veil, Laura could feel the key aura radiating from him. Her earlier joke seemed to have gone a bit too far.

Laura had not expected Easton to arrive so quickly, especially given the door’s excellent soundproofing: she had no idea that what she said playfully had prompted him to open it right away.

“Mr. Ryan, let me explain Laura and Cedric said at the same time, making it look like they understand each other well, Cedric shot Laura a furious glare, silently blaming her for dragging him into this

The atmosphere was ice–cold. Cedric shook his head fervently. “Mr. Ryan, it’s not what you think. Laura is just here to bring you a cake,”

This was the first time Laura had seen usually composed and serious Cedric appear completely flustered, almost like a lost child.

Like always, Easton’s face was expressionless, leaving even Cedric unsure of his thoughts. He pushed Laura closer to Easton. “You’ll assist Mr. Ryan with his wash” With that. Cedric hurried away like a kid who had done something wrong.

Laura stood while Easton remained seated, a chill breeze wafting in. She finally understood why Cedric felt stressful; Easton’s demeanor was simply too powerful. Even without speaking a word, his strong presence pressed down on Laura, making it hard for her to breathe.

In her past life, Laura hadn’t had much interaction with him. He had always seemed cold and decisive, only letting his guard down slightly in her presence. At that time, she was completely focused on Robert and had never analyzed Easton’s character.

He seemed shrouded in a thin veil of darkness, making it hard for her to see him clearly, and she had no idea what he was thinking. Laura crouched down and gently tugged at his robe. “Mr. Ryan, are you mad at me?”

الخير

Easton could sense was Laura tugging the corner of his robe, her cautious approach reminiscent of a small animal. His Adam’s apple bobbed, and he said, “No.”

After saying this, he turned his wheelchair and began to leave. Laura scratched her head, wondering if he truly wasn’t mad at her.

From three steps away. Easton called out, “Come in.”

“Oh, okay,Laura said.

The room was heavily draped with blackout curtains, allowing only a sliver of sunlight to seep in, adding a touch of warmth to the dark space. The black–and–white decor further emphasized the oppressive atmosphere.

On the oversized bed, a black silk blanket was piled up. Easton was still dressed in his black robe, indicating that he had just woken up. Despite his blindness, he had an excellent sense of direction and headed straight to the bathroom

Recalling what Cedric had said before he left, Laura put down the cake and followed Easton inside.

The bathroom was custom–designed, with a sink perfectly suited for him to reach from his wheelchair. It was clear that he usually washed up by himself.

Laura hesitated, unsure if she should offer assistance, thinking that someone as proud as Easton wouldn’t want anyone to help. Just as she was lost in thoughts, she heard his voice. “I can’t see.”

“What?” Laura was confused.

“You’ll take care of these chores from now on,” he said.

Laura pretended not to notice the height of the cu

Thinking she was reluctant, Easton paused, then said, “If yo

you’re not willing to…”

A soft touch brushed against his lips, Laura’s warm fingertips lingered there, and Easton caught a hint of a floral fragrance from her skin. “No, I’m willing

Her fingers rested on the black veil covering his face as she asked softly, “Mr. Ryan, may

“Yes, he said

Receiving Easton’s approval, Laura slowly lifted the black veil from his face, revealing his eyes, which gradually opened. Laura felt her heart race as he opened his eyes.

She gazed at him, noticing the long, thick eyelashes framing his bluish–purple eyes. Those blue–violet eyes resembled two beautiful gens, albeit dulled and backing their former luster.

Wehour the veil obscuring him, his rugged face appeared sculpted and handsomely chiseled. In the past, she had only felt fear towards him. Never

as she did today.

She used a warm towel to wipe his strong brows, high nose, and thin lips; each feature was like a beautiful piece of art, exquisite and flawless.

“Mr. Ryan… she whispered softly.

“How do I look compare to Cedric?” he asked.

Laura blinked in surprise, taking a few seconds to understand what he meant. It seemed that he was still bothered by what she had said earlier. “Mr. Byan, I was just joking. I’ve never actually seen his muscles, she hurriedly clarified.

Easton, however, pressed on. “What about my body?”

She swallowed hard, sincerely replying. “Your body is great.”

Remembering his concern, she quickly added, “Way better than Cedric’s”

Upon hearing her deliberate flattery, a hint of a smile finally broke through Easton’s cold expression. I may be disabled, but I won’t let you down.”

Laura tilted her head thoughtfully, wondering what he meant by that. Could it be…? No way. Mr. Ryan is always stoic. He couldn’t possibly mean that. I must be overthinking it!”

To her surprise, Easton continued, “When you’re old enough, we can try it out.”

Laura’s mind went blank. That was pretty explicit. He clearly meant what she thought he did.

Not receiving her response and unable to see her expression, the tense air around Easton made him feel anxious. “Are you still

you still thinking about him?”

Laura blushed as the defended herself. “Mr. Ryan, don’t be ridiculous. I’m not thinking about that jerk anymore! The moment I took your heirloom, I became yours. I’m not old enough to get a marriage certificate; otherwise, I’d be marrying you in a heartbeat.

After she spoke, she suddenly felt that her words might have come across as too eager. She was afraid that Easton might think she was promiscuous. Easton held her hand, saying seriously, “I be better than him.”

“Mr. Ryan, you don’t need to compare yourself to that bastard. You’re worth a thousand times more than he is,” she said.

*So, wanna give it a try?” Easton asked,

After all the back and forth, it seemed what he cared about was still that matter. As she thought about it, she realized why. He was disabled, and despite his cool demeanor, he was still insecure about whether she found him undesirable.

Who would have thought that the intimidating Easton could be so endearing beneath his tough exterior? Laura wasn’t afraid of him anymore. Her face flushed as she replied in a voice barely above a whisper, “Okay”
