Chapter 14 Everyone's Pity
"How could this be?"
Tom was the first one to have realized what was happening. He didn't know Atlas before, so he was less shocked than Atlas' family.
Jessie looked at Atlas in disbelief and asked with a trembling voice, "Mr. Renner, are you sure? Why would Mr. Kimmerly respect him? What has he done to deserve this?"
Jessie didn't understand. He only knew that Atlas was a piece of trash, and he wondered how the trash had become one of Ronald's most respected people.
Anthony suddenly glared at Jessie and scolded, "Mr. Cho, are you suspecting me or Mr. Kimmerly? If you didn't even have an eye for talent, then you can quit being the head of the HR Department!" Jessie's face was pale. He fell to the ground and had even given up begging for mercy.
Anthony had seen him humiliate Atlas just now. If Atlas is really Mr. Kimmerly's most respected person, Anthony would definitely show no mercy to him in order to suck up to Atlas.
"It's over... the little bastard ruined all the efforts I've put in the past two years!" Jessie looked at Atlas with a vicious gaze.
Tammy's dull eyes gradually regained focus. Having realized the truth, she suddenly felt remorse.
"No wonder he treated Mr. Kimmerly Junior rudely today. Turns out he's Mr. Kimmerly's respected person! I've spoken ill of him with my cousins, and I told on him to my aunt and uncle. That's so embarrassing! He must be laughing at me now!"
Tammy felt so embarrassed. She wanted to flatter the Rolands, but now she had offended the person that the Rolands respected most!
Other relatives looked at Atlas in shock.
"So that's why he said he wouldn't mind offending the Ronald Group. He surely didn't need to be afraid, because the president of the group respect him!"
"How ridiculous we were to laugh at him just now. We were so stupid!"
Giorgio looked at Atlas with a complicated expression on his face. He just scolded Atlas because Atlas had offended Mr. Kimmerly Junior. Thinking of that, Giorgio couldn't feel more embarassed.
At the same time, Giorgio was also curious. He knew Atlas better than anyone else. He wondered how Atlas had become Ronald's most respected person?
Francis looked at Atlas and asked worriedly, "What has happened, Atlas?"
Atlas smiled and said, "I helped Ronald Kimmerly this morning, and he gave me this card. I didn't know that it would work so well."
"Alright then." Francis nodded and stopped asking. She wouldn't care about it as long as Atlas didn't do anything illegal.
Viviana looked astonished first and confused second. "Mr. Kimmerly took him home. Did her really find the source of the Foul Energy?"
"No, it's impossible!" Viviana gave up on that thought immediately. She clearly knew what Atlas could do and what he couldn't. He might be able to get it right once out of sheer luck, but he would never be able to get it right again.
"What the hell did he do?" Viviana was curious.
Atlas looked at Anthony who was still bowing. Maybe he would keep that posture forever if Atlas kept silent.
"Get up."
Atlas said calmly. As overbearing as Anthony was, he hadn't made any big mistakes.
Anthony felt relieved because he knew Atlas had forgiven him.
"Since Mr. Lincoin is eating here, we shall leave right away and get another room." Anthony said respectfully.
"Wait."
Atlas suddenly looked at Flynn who was sitting at the table. "He's my family and he wants to join the Ronald Group."
Anthony read his hint and nodded immediately, "Trust me, I'll find him a nice position."
"You can go now."
He didn't want to have more things to do with him.
Anthony felt bitter. He knew Atlas was using him, and yet he had to meet his demand.
"Then excuse us."
After Anthony left, the place was still quiet. Nobody dared make a sound.
Atlas looked at Francis and said, "I got things to do. Have fun!"
Atlas came here today just because he didn't want Francis to follow the same old disastrous road she had in her last life. He didn't want her to get angry and ended up in the hospital.
Now that the goal had been achieved, there was no need for him to stay any longer. He hated this kind of hypocritical occasion the most.
Francis also understood that other people would only feel awkward if Atlas kept staying here. So she simply replied, "Be careful when you're alone."
"Don't worry, I'm just hanging out!" Atlas get up and left as he said that.
Those people watched Atlas leave as if they were watching a life-changer sneaking away from them.
The vibe in the hall was weird. Jessie was sitting on the ground, but nobody seemed to care about him.
All of them looked at Flynn with shocked and envious faces.
Atlas gave Flynn a huge reward just because Flynn had spoken up for him.
They were regretting it so much. Only if they had spoken up for Atlas too!
Jessie got up from the ground and said coldly. "He must have stolen the Violet Gold Card from somewhere. He was lying to you! I'll call his bluff as soon as I go to work tomorrow!" Everyone looked at Jessie like a fool. They knew what he said was hardly possible.
After all, Jessie had lost everything. Refusing to admit it was all he could do now.
When Atlas left the Sealada Hotel, the night had fallen. He wandered on the street.
The environment of Zuthana had been seriously polluted. People could barely see stars in the night sky.
According to the memories from his last life, his biological parents would find him in three years. Now that he had reincarnated, he thought maybe he should visit them.
Atlas wanted to go, but he was also afraid that meeting them too early would change the trajectory of his destiny, causing the future to change. Then everything would get out of his control.
He had to give up on the idea of visiting his parents. His thought drifted back to his lover, Night Moon Fairy.
"I had my reincarnation during the Heavenly Tribulation. Night Moon must be able to do it, too."
But Night Moon Fairy was just a True Immortal in Convergence Phase, and he was an Immortal Emperor going through heavenly tribulation. Therefore, he wasn't quite sure if she could reincarnate. He happened to pass by an antique store.
He suddenly felt something.
So he stopped and walked into the store.
The owner of the store is a big guy wearing glasses. He squinted his eyes and took a look at Atlas. Then he chose to ignore.
Judging by Atlas' appearance, he wouldn't be able to afford any valuable things.
Atlas stopped in front of a Buddha statue. He could feel a unique fluctuation of Spiritual Power in it.
"Excuse me, how much is it?" Atlas asked.
The owner looked at the Buddha statue which he bought over from a ragpicker with 50 bucks.
The Buddha statue felt unusual to him, too. He bought it to take a closer look. However, he had had it authenticated many times, and they all said that it was a worthless counterfeit.
Now that the young man was interested in that Buddha statue, he thought he should take the opportunity and sell it. No one else would want it anyway.
"A hundred thousand, can you afford that?" The man had his own way of bargaining.
If the customer is a senior or an expert, he would quote reasonably, which made other think that he was an honest businessman.
If it was a lad, he would raise the quote and pretend to look down upon him.
Most young men would be provoked by his attitude. They would get impulsive and immediately agree on the deal.
This trick was used many times, and it often worked.
