Killing My Alpha Mate

Chapter 75

Dimitri helped me into the car though I objected to it.

Sitting in the driver's seat he starts the ignition then we head away.

It's a bit strange Jaden never tried to reach out to me, or maybe he did?

Maybe he was just as helpless as I was.

I wonder if he misses me the same way I do, did he send a search party to come get me?

I bite my tongue suppressing the desire to ask Dimitri. I don't want him taking it the wrong way after all he had been through.

So instead I lower the car glass letting the early morning wind brush on my skin, my body shivers from the cold but I relish it, the taste of freedom is enough to feel warm.

The drive is easygoing, with no small talk but I'm there's a comfortable silence between us.

Looking out the window there are barely any people walking these streets, just a lot of buildings and shops.

The vicinity we're in must have a small pack, having nothing to do. I gaze at the buildings we pass by, their colors, outline the name written and sometimes when I see people walking, I try to smile at them. A building catches my attention and I swear it looks familiar.

The Descent mart.

"Stop!"My mouth yells before my brain gives the command.

Dimitri hits the brakes hard, the tire makes a screeching sound and I jerk forward but the seat belt stops me from hitting my head on the dashboard.

"Hailey, what the hell?" Dimitri says breathing hard I must have startled him.

It's a long shot but one I take, could it be?

"I'm sorry I just-" I trail off, gazing back at the small shop, I spot it from a range and I'm sure it's the same one.

I yank out my seat belt and step down from the car.

The wind blows my hair in different directions, I walk unhurriedly rubbing my arms together for comfort.

I hear the car door open and close with a thud, Dimitri's footsteps heading my way.

Crossing over I head to the small shop.

"The Descent Mart " Dimitri says as tears brim my eyes.

It looks abandoned like no one has been in it for years.

For years I haven't been here, when I was younger my mother brought me here and we had bonding time. It was a small shop for old antiques and recycled junk.

Lady Flora, my mom's closest friend, was the owner of the shop, she was a rogue, one our pack accepted for her charismatic attitude.

If this is here it means we're not far off from my pack.

"Hailey, you know this place?" Dimitri questions.

I nod affirmative, striding forward.

I know I will see the ruins of my old pack house and reopen old wounds, I could already feel my heart bleeding with each step, my mind barraging with memories of my childhood. Without questioning Dimitri follows behind as we walk past his car heading to a t-junction.

It makes sense why the place is deserted; there was no one living in them.

Heading straight to the street that is a lot different than I remember and I feel out of place as I spot a different structure, one that is in place of my home

It looks like a huge factory that had been built, my eyes widen as I stare in horror observing.

The ruins of my pack house had been demolished and transformed into some kind of warehouse.

The audacity! My pack was one of the greatest. My father left a legacy, he put his blood, sweat, tears into perfecting our pack. This is supposed to be holy ground but looks like they have long forgotten his legacy. It gawked like it had been built right after it was burned to ashes.

Gripping the fence that blocked our entrance, my anger surges through my body. I look carefully trying to find a way in.

Not disclosing one I head forward there has to be a way in even if I have to tear the fence down with my bare hands I will.

"Hailey...Hailey" Dimitri yells. pulling me back.

"Let me go!" I say, struggling out of his grip.

"Shhhh" He shushes like I am a child holding on to me.

"Hailey, do not make any irrational decisions, if you head inside what difference will you make?" I relax in his arms knowing he is right there's nothing I could do, I'll only get myself killed or captured.

My shoulders slump as tears pool from my eyes

Dimitri hugs me comforting me not saying a word. I'm sure he must be marveling at what the hell is going on.

He leads me back to the car and stays for a while as I sob quietly hugging my legs.

I'm sure the crown is behind this, renovating my home to rebuild the warehouse my dad once destroyed. They made their statement at my home.

"We should head back" I tell Dmitri, not facing his direction.

One of my most loved attribute is his patience not bomb-barding me with questions he starts the car giving my hand a little squeeze before he drives to our destination.

Just like my dad did many years ago I will do the same soon... soon enough.

The sun is high in the sky as we arrive and the pack is full.

Stepping down to find out why I head towards the crowd Dimitri close behind.

I spot Riley and my blood boils in my veins it takes a lot not to rush through the crowd and rip her f*****g head off her f*****g body, I will be sure to ask someone to take a picture of the shock that will be registered on her face when she sees me 'We are sorry for the inconveniences this mistake may have caused," Rustave addressed the crowd.

"So let's not waste any more time, the new and rightful Luna of our great pack Riley...
