Chapter 24
Having nowhere else to go I return back to Jaden's room glad he wasn't in.
I head to the bathroom and vomit, clearing my stomach still didn't relieve me so I grab a tooth brush not caring who had used it and squirt a large amount of toothpaste, scrubbing my tongue violently till I drew blood. I felt shattered, the pain kept gnawing in my chest making me cry out reminding me I was utterly alone I always had been.
Rinsing my face with water I look up at the mirror at my puff reddened eyes, and rosy cheeks that hurt, my lips had a bit of a swell and my hair a mess, my reflection matching my bruised state.
"We'll make it" I promised silently, touching the cold glass mirror with shaky hands just like the rest of the other nights; this was one I had to live through.
The glimmering necklace catches my gaze dangling on my neck, touching it makes my heart ache, another lie.
Another empty promise I pulled off my neck with force breaking the chain.
It was something I had held a certain value to and had grown to love dearly but this was the first step to moving on I had to take.
Leaving the bathroom I dropped the necklace on the bedside table.
It didn't feel right.
In his angry state I wouldn't want him to destroy it, it was a gift, my first and maybe my last from me. I'll hide it when next he gets dressed he'll see it.
Or if he touches the cupboard at all.
The clothes looked new and untouched and I'm sure he gets a new one every week.
I'll just put it in a box and drop it, he wears watches so it won't be hard to find a box.
Opening the first drawer it was filled with paper clips, documents, some files but no box. I proceeded to the second one, a key welcoming me picking it up. It looked familiar.
Recalling when Rustave had been clutching the same key in his hand.
Is it possible?
Maybe... There was no harm in trying.
Shoving the drawer back in place I hurry out the room. It was night time and everyone was exhausted after the party but the guards were still alert. I don't even bother sneaking. I walk boldly through the guards and no one tries to stop me. Entering the dark hall the lock was still in place taking it in my hand I pushed the key that fits perfectly i removed the lock pushing the door steadily.
A figure rises slowly looking in my direction.
Her face was almost unrecognizable, blood was dripping off her mouth, she was severely injured, covered in bruises and her legs had been chained.
But her vanilla essence and red hair was still a solid mark that made me drop to my knees. She was my mother.
"Mom.. I whispered, overwhelmed.
17
Hailey" she says weakly coughing out blood.
77
How.. what.. when" unable to form a sentence I held her gently she looked like she would break so thin and feeble.
"I wish I could tell....you it's never too late you must...have a lot of questions Melissa.. east coast of Virginia... Please forgive me, my dear Hailey... I love..you." she goes into a fits of cough and I try to help her till she goes numb. "No no no" she became still, her unseeing eyes looking up at me, with no pulse.
"No!" I cried in agony.
"I can save you. We have the blood for healing. Please stay with me, you can't just leave your mother!"
Tell me this is just a bizarre nightmare. I was still in bed. My mother isn't dead in my hands please tell me that I have lost my mind hallucinating.
Footsteps were heading here bursting through the door.
"What are you doing here?" I'm guessing a guard said.
If I am touched in any way that would be the last thing they'll ever do.
I rocked her on my legs and still couldn't believe she was dead.
My mom.
"Hailey" a voice I knew too well called, one I didn't want to face now.
"Hailey what....
"Stay away from me JADEN PERRY" I yelled with raw hatred meaning every goddamn word.
They had tortured and kept her captive and he had a spare key to this room so feigning innocence in front of me was going to lead us no where.
"What's the cause of the recks?"Lord Perry's voice echoes in the small room. If it was any other day I would have felt intimidated but now I dared him to try to make a move at me.
I've already lost it all, the feeling of being separated from her for so long only to reunite again and she leaves... Forever.
"This girl is getting...
"Stop father" Jaden warned sternly that was the first time I've ever heard him stand up to the man but I couldn't have cared less.
"Take care of this or I'll do it myself" he says stomping off and I hear a few others leave but I could feel him in the room.
It was unfortunate I couldn't erase the mark from my neck. If I could, I would have done so now, Jaden Perry is someone I wanted nothing to do with.
"That's just your anger speaking" he says calmly
"You don't have the right to talk to me Jaden Perry"
"I know tonight...
"Stop it Jaden if you say another word I'll be forced to rip your tongue out your mouth if it's the last thing I do" I glare at him saying each word boldly I know I was disrespecting an Alpha but that was none of my business death wasn't an option now these mother fuckers will pay for her death each and everyone of them.
"I got here as fast as I could" Dimitri barges into the room looking between I and Jaden leaning on the wall.
He walks hesitantly to my side looking at my mother's corpse. He looks at me with sympathy, making me cry more.
He looks at me and I rush to hug him crying on his shoulders cradling in his laps letting it all out.
"Dimitri, she just left me. Why does everyone I love leave me at the end? What did I do to deserve this treatment? I just want to die. I'm tired Dimitri, I'm tired.. I'm tired...
