Just a Wolf

Chapter Taking a Walk

Dominic

Just sitting together at one table, sharing food from one plate, feels amazing. I still can’t believe that I’m here with her. With my Impossible Girl.

She had no idea what I was talking about. I am such a nerd, and I’m not sure I would have been confident enough to admit that to just anyone, but it feels right to tell her everything. With my sci-fi show, and with my embarrassing dick slip last night, she just seems like she genuinely wants to know about me. Like she thinks I am fascinating, and worthy of her time, and someone she really does want to learn about.

And now she is going to come and hang out with me at the garage for a while. She says that she has about an hour, and I cannot imagine anything more wonderful than having this beautiful girl hanging around and watching me while I work on the cars.

Well, yes I can. I can imagine a lot of things. I have to adjust myself a bit in my seat, imagining those things. I suspect that I’m going to have to just get used to feeling hard like this all the time. My inner wolf says, “Yeah you will.” He is impatient, but he knows I have decided to be as patient and slow as she needs me to be. Won’t stop him from being snide about it.

When we’ve finished the food, she says, “Wait here,” and heads over to talk to her boss. Oh - I think it’s the same guy who brought us down from our rooms last night. Back when I was smelling her scent, but before I had met her.

I think that soon I am going to forget that there ever was a before.

She comes back in a minute and says, “Okay, we’re good to go. I’ll show you where the garage is.” Her tone is friendly, but clearly pitched so that anybody listening around us won’t be suspicious about us. I’ll bet that she performs lots of duties like this.

I stand, put my hands in my pockets to prevent them from grabbing her, and say, “Yeah, thanks,” trying to sound casual.

We leave the room together, and I force myself not to try to hold her hand. It is difficult not to touch her, like trying to force magnets apart. It feels like I am being pulled to her by gravity, or magnetism, and I have to resist it. I can’t wait until later when we can be in private again.

She meets my eyes as we get outside, and in the sunlight I realize what a gorgeous color of blue hers are. Oh god, how am I going to resist this? I curl my hands into fists inside my pockets, trying to give myself strength.

I look down, and see that her hands are in her pockets, and damned if it doesn’t look like she is doing the exact same thing.

Man, if we are both struggling to keep our hands off of each other already, I’m not sure that this bodes well for her plan to keep us a secret. I huff out a little laugh, and she looks up at me again as we walk along a pathway through the grounds. “What?” she asks.

I look around, make sure nobody is nearby to hear. “I can barely keep my hands off you,” I say, “I’m worried that I’m going to grab you in public and ruin the secret.”

She smirks up at me. “You’re not the only one,” she says, and it makes me laugh. Then I realize that I feel a little more relaxed.

“Well,” I point out with a smile, “at least we’re going through this together.”

She nods, and grins up at me, and I realize what an incredibly cute smile she has. Is that an actual dimple? Shit, she is not making this any easier.

At least we’re outside, and even though it is December, the sun is shining, peeking out intermittently from behind swiftly passing clouds. It’s a beautiful day, and the light touches her golden hair, and something about being out in the fresh air makes her scent even more appealing.

The whole thing seems magical.

Evan

I see Dominic eating with the cute blonde, sharing food off the same plate, giggling and chatting with their heads close together. Oh man, he has it bad.

I wonder how serious she is about him? He obviously is head over heels, but who knows? I mean, they just met last night. I had a blast with the other girls from her pack last night, dancing and drinking, but none of them seemed serious about me, that’s for sure. They were just having fun flirting and teasing with all of us guys. We were just partying, nothing more. I hope that he knows what he’s doing.

I’m still talking to Nolan when I see her get up and go talk to their Gamma for a second, then she goes back to Dominic. I hear her tell him that she’ll show him the garage, where our cars are parked.

Huh. Well, that seems convenient for him, anyway. I suppose it’s possible she is more serious than those other girls last night were. I’ll have to grill him about it tonight, assuming he even shows up in our room this time.
