Chapter Astral 6 - Prediction
“This is odd,” Joseph said after having spent the last 20 minutes going over the ship formation data provided by Admiral Cyana Rove and Admiral Ralor.
“What did you find?” Celyn asked curiously.
“Ship formations have been normal for most of the total time this week but for one day they changed.” He then pressed a button on the holoprojector which then displayed several planets with their respective ship formations. “And you know what’s so weird about it, it’s the same day that both the director and vice directors, Admiral Rove and Admiral Ralor, were all out of their stations so when you came back the formation seemed the same.”
“That was three days ago,” Celyn said. “So, what’s so different about it?”
“The formation change left two planets open, Iskar and Halor, and with the Coryzen defense fleet changing shifts, our planet, Coryzen was left open for nearly six hours.”
“I see why you wanted Commander Terix to do this Admiral Rove.” Admiral Ralor said. “Why do you think the Confederacy didn’t attack?” He asked Joseph. “Our spies say that they’ve been looking for an opportunity to attack Coryzen for a while now.”
“I’m not sure.” He answered. “Maybe the confederacy was not prepared for such an opening.”
“But maybe they were.” Celyn interrupted.
“What did you find?” Joseph asked.
“If you were not aware, I was in charge of monitoring Confederacy ship movements on nearby planets, I had devoted special attention to the Confederacy Command Ship Doombringer, she was spotted five days ago over the planet Ollow, the next day, over Lonor Prime, and then the next day the ship, well, the ship didn’t go to Ollow or Carlin, and it wasn’t over Lonor Prime either.”
Everyone in the room was quickly concerned over this newly discovered event.
“Why didn’t you inform us about this before?” Cyana asked Celyn.
“I thought that maybe the ship entered the atmosphere, and we all know how difficult Lonor Prime’s atmosphere is to scan ships inside of it.”
“Fair point...” Admiral Ralor said.
“I told Commander Iago about it, and he told me that he would tell you,” Celyn said.
“Halor and Iskar...” Joseph said as he looked at the data. “They were guarded the next day so if the Doombringer came they would have spotted it, but--” Joseph then stopped.
“What’s wrong?” Cyana asked.
“This is a random question but how sure are we that vector Starline is the only entrance to Coryzen?”
“The nebulae all around us are too thick for any ship to pass through.” Admiral Ralor said. “Any ship that passes through them would be disintegrated.”
“What about the new Nebula-class shields?” Joseph asked. “The ones that Intrepid Technologies is testing.”
“They are still in the early prototype stages, the only working design of the prototype is the inside of the I.T.S. Star Traveler. And it is currently stationed at--”
“Wait wait the Star Traveler?” Admiral Rove said. “I was informed two days ago that the ship was lost during its voyage to Planet America.”
“Was what!?”
“A ship that large couldn’t have gotten past Starline Space Station undetected,” Joseph said. “If that ship is here, we have to-”
