Chapter Chapter Thirty Three
Eve was standing on the porch, awaiting Flint’s arrival. He was close, and getting closer. The past night had been one filled with emotions, but not hers. Her mate had spent an entire night and day with a knot in his stomach. She could feel it and had been worried about it.
The SUV pulled to a quick stop in front of the house. Eve took several quick steps to make it to the door. Flint barely had time to step out of the car before his mate collided with him. He released a sigh of relief when her arms curled around him.
“What’s been going on? I couldn’t reach you.” Eve mumbled into his broad chest.
“Phone’s dead. I knew you were well.” Flint inhaled the scent of her hair.
“I know. Still, something is wrong. How did everything go?” She probed.
“It went.” He hugged her tightly before walking to the porch.
“Flint...” Eve examined him suspiciously.
“We have two weeks to find Sarah Becker and deliver her to NorthWood. They won’t attend the Call if we fail.” Flint sighed as he entered the house.
“Two weeks? It took months to learn her full name! She’s underground. What do we do?” She thought aloud.
“We do everything we can to find her.” He sat on the couch tiredly.
“Is there something else?” Eve brought him a beer and sat beside him.
If she isn’t strong enough to hold the power, she’s already dead. The memory of Noah's words pierced his thoughts.
Flint rubbed his face and swallowed the anxiety growing inside him. He didn't want to tell Eve what the SilverCrest Alpha had warned him about. Noah claimed to be going to get help from his elders. Until Flint knew more, he wanted Eve to be able to stay calm.
"I talked to Noah about the Alpha power. He says they have the legend. He's going to get back to me after he talks to the SilverCrest elders." He answered vaguely.
Eve examined him for a moment. Something else was definitely bothering him, she could tell. None of these things were the cause of the knot in Flint's stomach. Eve could feel it but she decided not to address it.
"Okay. At least that's something." She replied, still watching him.
Flint was uncomfortable under the searching gaze of his mate. He finished the beer in his hand quickly before he stood, placing the empty bottle on the table.
"Where are you going?" Eve probed.
The Alpha smiled at her before he lifted her in his arms. She clung to his neck for a moment before Flint dropped to his knees. He laid her on the carpet beneath him. The heat of his skin and the electricity of his touch wiped every thought from Eve's mind.
"No where." Flint replied easily.
He brushed his lips over hers softly before he kissed her with ardent passion. Eve moaned as his tongue filled her mouth, claiming it. Flint grabbed the front of her tank top, ripping it down the front.
"Hey-"
Eve's giggled protest was silenced as Flint covered her lips with his once more. Her fingers, as if moving on their own, made quick work of his shirt buttons. In what seemed like a mere moment, she was wrapping her bare legs around his hips. Eve moaned as his erection plunged into her core.
After a few slow but sweeping thrusts, Flint paused his movements. He stared down at Eve's flushed cheeks and glowing, cyan blue eyes. Her lips were swollen from kissing him and her honey blonde hair was spread beneath her like a messy fan.
Eve stared up at him. She smiled for a moment before a feeling swept through her. Fear. It wasn't her fear at all, it was her mate's. She could feel it radiating off of him and coursing through her. Something was wrong, very wrong.
She opened her mouth to say something about it but Flint kissed her again, interrupting her before she could begin. As his pelvis started moving again, his thrusts were sharp and strong. Eve clung to his back with her fingertips as the world and all its troubles faded from her mind.
Flint sat up on his knees. Eve arched her back to meet his every movement. It seemed like her every nerve was vibrating. She could feel how much power her mate had within him.
A raging ice storm perfused with deep longing. The strength of such a force seemed to be enough to crush her, but it only lifted her up. Eve screamed out as a possessive growl rumbled from Flint's chest. He laid his torso on hers, hungrily claiming her mouth again.
Eve felt Flint's fear once more. It seemed to be driving him. She moaned as his teeth grazed the mark on her shoulder. The lightening unleashed in her veins prevented her from forming a complete thought. Pleasure rippled through her muscles as her vision clouded.
Flint groaned as his mate's orgasm sent goosebumps across his skin. He dropped his face into the crook of her neck, inhaling her scent. The movements of his pelvis slowed again as his growl was met by Eve's whimpering gasp. In a few torturously slow thrusts, Flint felt euphoria take hold of him.
He placed another long, deep kiss on Eve's lips before he rolled to lay beside her on the carpet. The Luna allowed her heartrate to ease before she took a deep breath and looked at Flint. He was gazing at her and he was clearly overthinking something. Even during their intimacy, he had something on his mind. Something that made him anxious.
"Are you sure you're okay?" Eve pulled his shirt over her shoulders.
"Are you?" Flint asked in a serious tone.
"I'm fine. What's going on?" She probed.
"Nothing." He pulled her to rest her head on his shoulder. "If you're okay, I'm okay."
"Hmm..." Eve lay back on the carpet and gave him a skeptical expression.
"Don't look at me like that." Flint brushed her hair out of her face. "Tell me how the days were for you? Anything exciting?"
Guilt flooded through her along with the anticipation of his reaction. The Alpha rose up on his elbow to examine her suspiciously.
"What happened?" Flint asked in a flat tone.
"I have to tell you some stuff, but I don't want you to be mad at me..." Eve sighed.
