Instant Millionaire

Chapter 69 Weird Policy

"Yair, did you see that woman? She is our business partner. I was embarrassed in front of her just now and I need you to help me save face. I'll leave Anne in your hands," whispered Julie to Yair's ear softly. Yair supported Julie while she walked and they walked to Manager Miller.

Manager Miller was in a better mood now. He was initially afraid that Julie would ask Quincy to come over, but it was Yair who came over instead. Manager Miller cursed Yair under his breath.

Yair was complacent last time and Manager Miller thought Yair was friends with Quincy. But he hired a private investigator afterwards and found out that it wasn't the case.

"This is my daughter's boyfriend. He is a capable man, you don't have to worry about anything, Lilian." Julie smiled as she said that to Lilian.

Lilian looked at Yair and nodded, he did look quite capable.

"Manager Miller, how about we forget about it since I'm here now?" said Yair as he smiled to Manager Miller. He thought that him being there would make Manager Miller soften his attitude. "Forget about it? You're pulling my leg, Mr. Ivan." Manager Miller snickered, "Please do pay the bill since you are here now. It would be great if you would not hinder our business."

What? What was wrong with Manager Miller today? He wasn't acting like this last time. Did he forget about me already just after a week?

"Manager Miller, do you perhaps not remember who I am? I am Yair Ivan, my father is Sean Ivan and he owns the DS Construction Company," said Yair proudly.

"Oh," said Manager Miller, he looked like as if he was enlightened.

"Do me a favour and I'll remember it, okay? Now since the misunderstanding is out of the way, I will keep this favour in mind. Don't worry, I will be frequenting your place a lot from today onwards," said Yair as he laughed. He then turned around and said to Julie, "Julie, it's all settled now, we can take our leave."

Yair was ready to leave with Julie and her friends. Julie and her friends were praising Yair for what he did.

"Wait," said Manager Miller. What did you mean by "the misunderstanding is out of the way"? I never said that you could leave.

"There's no need to see us off, we'll take our leave," answered Yair while smiling.

What the heck, how much of a narcissist could this Yair be? Manager Miller grabbed Yair's shoulder and Yair felt a sharp pain on his shoulder, "Ouch, what are you..."

"Please pay the bill before you leave. If you don't, I will call the police," said Manager Miller angrily.

"Manager Miller, did you get out on the wrong side of the bed this morning? More like are you seriously asking me, Yair Ivan, to pay the bill..." asked Yair in amazement.

"I don't care if you are Yair Ivan or whatever, I will call the police if you guys don't intend to pay for the bill." Manager Miller was getting more and more irritated at Yair, he then looked at Julie and her friends and said, "So, are you guys paying the bill or not? No? Alright then."

These perverted middle-aged women were probably not planning to pay the bill from the beginning. Manager Miller took out his phone and was going to call the police.

What to do? Julie and her friends were shocked. Yair came to them, but he didn't help the situation at all. Lilian was standing by the side, her face turned red from embarrassment. To think that they were making a fool out of themselves in such a high-class restaurant.

"Don't call the police, I will foot their bill." Yair glared at Manager Miller. He couldn't figure out why Manager Miller's attitude towards him did a 180. There was nothing else he could do now but to foot the bill with his own money.

"Alright, as long as someone is paying the bill." Manager Miller took the bill from a waitress' hand and handed it to Yair, "It would be one hundred eleven thousand and four hundred. We'll round it down and you can just pay us one hundred and ten thousand."

"One hundred and ten thousand?!" Yair was so shocked he felt like his tonsil almost jumped out of his mouth like a cartoon character. He quickly looked at the bill and every service was jotted down very clearly Just a bottle of Louis XIV alone cost forty thousand, it was not surprising that the total amount was such a large sum.

Yair gritted his teeth and glared at Julie, he muttered under his breath, "These bitches, they sure know how to splurge. They actually have the guts to order a bottle of alcohol that cost forty thousand alone. They should've choked to death while drinking it."

Julie also shuddered after hearing that the total amount of the bill was about one hundred and ten thousand. Lilian glared at her speechlessly, Julie then smiled awkwardly and said, "Don't worry, Yair here will settle it for us."

Lilian let out a humph and turned her head away.

Julie inched closer to Yair and asked uncertainly, "There's no problem, right?"

"Yeah." Yair was filled with rage and he just answered her with one word. He wanted to yell and scream at Julie just by looking at her face. But then again, she was Anne's mother and he put in a lot of effort to get her.

Yair took out all his cash and cards. He was rich among his peers, but he wasn't that rich, his money was deposited in several different cards. One hundred and ten thousand wasn't a small amount of money, all his saving would go down the drain at this rate.

"Sir, there's only 87563 after adding up all the money in your cards and the cash, you'll still need to pay 22437. How would you like to pay?" said the woman at the counter politely while giving back Yair his cards.

"What, I only have that much in my cards?" Yair was surprised, he didn't usually look at the balance of his card. He looked at the monitor on the counter and it was true that that was all he had. He didn't want to ask for money from home and hence he looked at Julie pleadingly. She came to JM City for travel purpose, she should have some money with her.

"Julie, there's about twenty thousand left on the bill. Could you pay for the rest?" asked Yair quietly. Though he wasn't embarrassed about it, he paid the majority of the bill and since they were the one who enjoyed the services, they should at least pay for the remaining twenty thousand.

"Erm..." Twenty thousand was nothing to Julie, but she already spent 50-60 thousand in the past few days. If she were to use another twenty thousand right now, her husband would definitely suspect something. This incident about her having fun with male models would probably get found out, "Well, recently I'm tight on money..."

Yair's expression immediately turned sour hearing what she said. He thought to himself, "What the heck, why did you order such expensive dishes if you were tight on money?" "How about both of you?" Yair glanced at Diana and Aviana.

"They don't have the money either," said Julie awkwardly. She was in a pinch right now, she locked her gaze onto Lilian, she was probably the only one with money.

"Haha, having a meal at San Diego Western Restaurant even though they have no money, are they idiots?"

"They must be country bumpkins. Do they think that a meal here at a high-class restaurant in JM City will cost as much as what they usually have in the outskirts?"

"They sure are gutsy, having their meal at VIP box. I knew from the start that they weren't going to pay their bill."

The other patronages in the restaurant were laughing at Julie and her friends. They muttered softly among themselves.

"Lilian, there's not enough money to foot the bill. Could you maybe..." Julie walked up to Lilian, she forced a smile on her face.

Lilian was immediately filled with rage seeing that Julie was trying to ask her to foot the rest of the bill.

"You really treated me to a great meal," Lilian snickered. She let out a groan and walked up to the cashier. She held out her card, swiped her card at the card reader and paid for the remaining bill. Lilian quickly covered up her face and strode to the entrance after paying. It was way too embarrassing for her. Julie and the other two tried to catch up to her.

“Lilian, wait for me. Leave me your bank account number, I'll send you the money when I get back," yelled Julie.

"Humph, there's no need." Lilian turned around and snickered, "I must have hit my head and gone bonkers, otherwise I wouldn't have joined you guys for this meal. Goodbye." "Don't be like that. This is out of the ordinary! I'll call you again so that we can talk about our business cooperation." Julie was afraid that this incident would affect their cooperation. "Cooperation? Humph, I don't think our hospital have the means for that. You guys should look for another hospital." Lilian waved down a cab and left after saying that.

Julie knew that her business deal was definitely a goner after hearing what Lilian said. She felt like as if her heart was being thrown into an ice-house. Her friends Diana and Aviana also felt bad about what happened.

"Julie, don't be too sad. How about I drive you home right now?" Though Yair thought Julie deserved it even after seeing how sombre she looked. She shouldn't have dined at such a high-end restaurant if she didn't have money to pay for it, and this cost her her business opportunity. She also made him look bad in public and used up all his savings. It served her right.

"No need, we'll hail a cab. Thank you for your help today, Yair," said Julie dejectedly. She waved down a cab and went back with her friends.

Julie went back to her room the moment they got back to Nepenthe Guesthouse. She messed up her business deal and embarrassed herself in front of so many people, she was very bitter about it.

Julie and her friends gathered again at around six in the evening. They weren't in the mood to go anywhere because of what happened today.

"Excuse me, your rooms are due tomorrow noon. Please check out by noon tomorrow." The woman at the reception desk walked up to them and told them politely.

"Tomorrow?" After a brief discussion with her friends, they decided to stay for two more nights. The hotel was only average and not as ideal as a high-end hotel, but their service was good and the rooms had everything. It was also comfortable to stay in.

"Could you help us extend our stay?" asked Julie.

"I'm sorry, based on our policy we cannot extend your stay. Sorry for the inconvenience," answered the woman politely.

They were an official state guest house, and the policies were strict. If the person from the higher-up asked for 2 nights, then the people staying would only get to stay for 2 nights. They could not accept any extra requests from the person staying the night.

"I'm not allowed to extend? Did I hear that wrongly? What kind of hotel is this? Why?" asked Julie in astonishment.

"My apology. If you really want to extend you will need Mr. Lane to do it for you. It is our hotel policy, I cannot do much to help you," said the woman concernedly. They wouldn't usually explain so much about the Nepenthe Guesthouse's official policies if they didn't need to.

"I need him to do it for me?" Julie didn't really want to beg Quincy again. This hotel had such a weird policy, no wonder it was going out of business. Nobody really wanted to stay here anyway, "Fine, we'll leave tomorrow."

No big deal. Yair could easily book another hotel for them in JM City.

"Do you guys want to join us for a meal?" Hannah suddenly appeared. She saw Julie and her friends and she called out to them.

"We have eaten too much good food in the past few days, our digestion system is probably yelling at us. We'll come with you," said Julie. They then followed after Hannah and went to have a meal at the ZT building.

"It's not bad here." Julie and her friends were admiring the decorations in the ZT building. They only felt at ease to order some dishes after asking properly about the price. The meal and drinks here were free o charge.

"The food here is good." Julie and her friends thought that this was the best meal they ever had in JM City. It was much better than what they had for lunch today. There were abalones, lobsters, and other luxurious food items. They regretted not having their meal here since the beginning of their stay.

To comfort themselves, they still thought that the food at San Diego Restaurant was more auspicious. Even though the food here was free of charge and taste better, the ingredients for the food at San Diego Restaurant were imported from many different countries and was more superior in that sense. It was imported but they would be sent to the restaurant within three hours after arriving at the port.☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐
