Chapter Epilogue
~~~ The Fate of The Mountain ~~~
NorthWood’s leader, Daniel, was defeated by his son in the Alpha challenge a few years after the end of the rogue war. Nathan, his son, had no hard feelings toward StarLight. He wanted peace between the packs, and he strived to achieve it.
The brown and green colors that represented the Northwood pack came to signify tolerance and freedom. The crest of the running wolf was seen as one to admire in the years that followed. They began working closely with GraySky and Starlight, mending their bonds and making them stronger than ever before.
SilverCrest pack suffered the loss of Alpha Noah Pennell in a severe ice storm, several years later. He gave his life to save some pack members from a sharp gorge. The next Alpha, Kenneth, did his best to honor Noah’s life. He became known as a loyal and wise leader.
The pack never had colors or a crest. These were human inventions that they found no use for. Selena didn’t mind it. She spent most of her time in her wolven form. She never left SilverCrest territory, but her son brought his children to visit her on occasion.
Each night she could be found sleeping on Elijah’s grave. Being there made her feel close to him and the thought of leaving felt like abandoning him. This was something that Selena Dolan simply refused to do. Not again.
GraySky thrived under the leadership of Alpha Jay Adams. He became known as an approachable, hardworking, and honest man. His reputation rivaled that of his uncle, Skylar, as the years passed. Ben eventually retired from the Beta position to spend more time with Becca. The pair traveled around, never missing the chance to visit their grandchildren.
The heather gray and black that represented GraySky came to be seen as a symbol of honor on the mountain. Alpha Jay put a new program in place that meant each graduating warrior had to be a level five, not a level three like it once was. The crest of two wolves, fighting on their hind legs, truly came to symbolize their strength as a pack.
StarLight had changed as well with the passage of time. Alpha Flint Dolan came to be known as stern, stoic, and immensely hard to please. He wasn’t explosive or violent, as they’d thought before. The admired him and the pack was willing to follow him off a cliff, if he asked them. They had turned their backs on him once before, and they’d seen the error in this decision. It wouldn’t happen again; StarLight wouldn’t allow it.
Luna Eve worked closely with the pack members, getting to know them all. She made sure that anyone could come talk to her about their issues. She became known as a warm, caring, and protective Luna. A leader willing to risk everything for any of them. This made StarLight respect her and love her; just as she respected and loved them.
The royal blue and black colors of StarLight pack had always seemed regal. Yet, now they came to stand for something else. Family. The crest of the wolf’s profile once represented the strategic minds and brutality of the StarLight members. Now, it also seemed to represent them all as individuals; celebrating what each member had to offer to the pack and the ways in which they were all the same.
The rumors about Eli Dolan grew as he got older and stronger. At age thirteen, he was fighting warriors instead of his peers. At age seventeen, he was battling against specialists.
Nora Dolan, his sister, was faster and more clever than anyone on the field. Unless her brother was beside her. She hated that he would always win their battles. Still, this didn’t stop her from challenging him every chance she got.
The packs still feared the day when Eli sought control of the mountain. They imagined an all-powerful wolf emerging from the shadows... One glowing green eye, and one electric blue. The moonlight streaking across his face, which was split down the center; black on one side and white on the other. The power radiating off of him would be enough to scare the birds from their nests.
Yes, this is what the mountain was afraid of. Eve and Flint were less afraid...
They knew that along with the worst parts of themselves, their children also got the best parts. Eli had Eve’s reasoning skills and Flint’s icy attitude. He was a naturally born leader who had been taught all his life about the responsibility of the power he’d been given.
His parents and family trusted him to use his gifts well, even if the rest of the Lycans thought it to be an impossible feat. Nora inherited her determined and competitive spirit from Flint. She had Eve’s keen eye for detail and her personality was as bubbly as it was impulsive.
As the twins were nearing adulthood, the rumors of the legendary ‘all-mighty’ wolf resurfaced stronger than ever. Still, all that was left to do was to wait and see what became of the youngest Dolans. Though this was something on the minds of most, no one dared address it with Eli and Nora. Nor their parents.
Eve and Flint did their best to raise their children to be compassionate, giving, loyal, and contained. Still, they knew there would be trouble in the future for their supremely powerful offspring. Like the others, they were resigned to wait. Unlike the others, they had faith in their children to stay true to themselves.
Still, Eve and Flint knew this would be difficult. Yet, like all the other obstacles in their lives, they were sure they could overcome them. As a pack... As a family, together.
Letter From The Author
Dear Readers,
Insight is the third and final novel in the Instinct series and I hope you had as much fun reading it, as I had writing it. I honestly didn’t expect to write them at all. I was inspired and encouraged to do it by you all. I’m very grateful and would like to explain how this trilogy came to be.
I’ve always been a writer. There have always been notebooks of messy pages and piles of research in my life. I love it and always have. Before I found “FindNovel.net”, I had seven unfinished books on my laptop. I was working full time at a furniture factory and I had no time to invest in my writing anymore.
One night, after a long day, I came across the “FindNovel.net” app and I was reading some stories. I decided it could be a cool place to write while on my phone; even though my texting skills are nothing like my typing skills. So, I would come in at night and write for a while on a book that was different from anything I’d ever tried before.
I never edited anything. I admit that. I tend to put off my editing as much as I can, in as many ways as I can. Also, as I wrote earlier, I didn’t have any time to invest. Anyway... Instinct wasn’t supposed to be a series at all. It was just random musings from my overworked brain. I submitted it at three in the morning without thought. I never even reread it. I then closed “FindNovel.net” and didn’t pick it up again for over a year.
When I did look at Instinct again, I was shocked. Even with the errors, typos, choppy details... You guys wanted to hear more from me. You were excited to know what happened to my characters. I was more than overjoyed.
So, I did my best to edit Instinct before planning Intuition. I wanted to give you all a deeper storyline and more details about the characters and their lives. I can’t thank you enough for reading my books. Instinct, Intuition, and Insight have all been a lot of fun to write. I truly hope you enjoyed them.
Peace and Love,
Raina McPeak
P.S. My mom has always been my main supporter and the sounding board for even my earliest stories. I based Becca Adams' character after her. Shout out to my best friend; my loving, strong, crazy, supportive mom.
