Chapter Chapter Sixty Four
Graham had tried to get ahold of his friend, Candor. However, the rogue never answered. He then called his mother, informing her that something had gone wrong. The Beta didn’t know how, or why, but Flint had managed to gather enough warriors to fight. The battle was over and, once again, Flint Dolan had won.
Graham grabbed the suitcase from his closet and began packing his clothes. He turned to get the socks from his dresser, when a heavy knock fell on the door. Panic. He didn’t know who had come to see him but he realized the danger he was in. Graham kicked the bag under the bed before straightening his lapels.
“Beta Graham Monroe.” There was a team of four specialist on the porch waiting for him.
“How can I help you?” He asked, hesitantly closing the door behind him.
“Please come with us. You’re needed at head quarters.” The leader stated.
“Why? Is there a problem?” Graham didn’t want to step toward them.
He was anxious. He was barely hiding it behind a nervous smile. The mindlink told him nothing about the specialists’ intentions. They were much too highly trained to allow themselves to be read so easily.
“Please, Beta.” The leader gestured to the vehicle in the driveway. “We need you to come with us.”

Onyx had been at the Mountain Side Inn on the outskirts of Green Tree. A female warrior had been with her the entire time. The teenager was sad, angry, and scared. She'd barely spoken and she refused to eat anything she was given. Eventually, she managed to cry herself to sleep. She'd been at the inn for two nights when a heavy knock fell on the door.
"Alpha. Luna." The warrior opened the threshold.
"Evie?" Onyx jumped up from the bed.
"I'm here." Eve walked into the room.
Her muscles were still sore, though it was less than before. Her neck wound felt stiff and hard, as if it was scabbing over. Even though there was no real injury at all.
The teenager approached her as if to hug her, but Flint stepped in between them. Eve moved around her mate, who gave her a sidelong glance. She hugged Onyx, though the young woman was now staring at Flint with fear in her eyes.
"How are you?" Eve asked, looking her over.
"I'm alive. You had the pups." She gestured to Eve's empty stomach.
"Yes. A boy and a girl." The Luna nodded.
"Where are they?" She probed.
"Safe." Flint answered stiffly.
"I already know the answer, but I have to know..." Onyx rushed through her sentences anxiously. "Is Bas dead?"
Eve opened her mouth to answer, but the words got stuck in her throat. She felt like she could cry just from watching the tears welling in Onyx's amber eyes.
"Yes." Flint wrapped an arm around Eve's waist, answering for her.
The teenager covered her face with her hands and began crying uncontrollably. The Luna stepped forward and held her, letting Onyx's tears wet her shoulder.
"W-what hap-pened to h-him, E-vie?" She stammered between sobs.
Eve felt hot tears streaming down her face. She couldn't answer. It was all still too fresh, too painful.
"He couldn't survive his injuries from the battle." Flint gave her the official story.
"What are you going to do with him now?" She asked in a broken voice.
"Don't worry about that now." Eve cooed quietly.
"W-what about me?" Onyx pulled away and wiped her face. "What are you going to do with me now?"
"You're going back to your parents." She rubbed her own wet eyes. "They were called two days ago. They're waiting for you in the valley nearby."
"So, I can just go home?" She probed.
"Yes." Eve nodded.
"Okay..." Onyx inhaled deeply.
"Haley is going to take you to Summerville to meet your parents as soon as you're ready." Flint informed her.
"I can't stay too long. I have to get back to the twins." Eve stated.
"You're leaving now?" The teenager asked. "Will you... Will I see you again?"
"Maybe. I don't really know." She stepped forward to hug her one last time.
"We loved you, Evie. Still do." Onyx stated quietly.
Eve pulled away to give her a forced smile. Her words were painful. The Luna knew that Bastian thought he loved her. But she knew better. His 'love' was actually obsession. But Eve's love for Onyx was real. She wanted to take care of Onyx, just like the teenager had done her best to do the same thing for her.
"Me too." She whispered as she pulled away.
Flint and Eve sat in the SUV a few minutes later, driving toward the Dolan manor. Gracie and Selena were there with the pups. The ride was quiet for a several minutes. Eve had demanded to see Onyx before she went back to the Lawlers. She wanted to say goodbye. Flint didn't understand the importance, though he was trying to. For Eve.
"Elkin and Emily are probably at the house for your appointment already." Flint noted.
"My appointment is with Elkin. Emily is looking at the pups." Eve explained.
"I know." He raised their linked hands and kissed her fingers. "You feeling okay?"
"A little better." She nodded.
She hadn't told Flint why she'd wanted to see Onyx. She honestly didn't have a reason. But talking to the girl did relieve some of the weight from Eve's shoulders. They parked the car and entered to see that Flint was right. The doctors were seated in the living room, waiting for them.
"I've already checked on the pups." Emily informed them. "Elijah is strong. I know his eyesight was a concern, but his pupils are reactive and he seems perfectly healthy."
"And Nora?" Flint asked as he threw his arm over Eve's shoulders.
"She's doing great. Just like her brother, she's perfectly happy and healthy." She replied.
Eve stood from the couch as Elkin did. Emily and Flint followed suit.
"Let's start your exam." He stated.
"We can go to the guest room." Eve nodded.
Emily moved to follow them and Elkin rolled his eyes at her.
"I can preform a simple exam. I'm the one who delivered the pups." He grumbled.
"And if she wants to talk to a woman?" Doctor Mills grinned at him.
"Wha- I'll have you know I've been a physician since before you were born. The Luna can talk to me just as easily as you. Woman or not." Elkin sputtered.
"It's fine guys." Eve giggled at them. "You both win."
