Chapter Chapter Sixty Eight
The rank tournament began the following week. Much to the surprise of many, Johnny Bass became the new chief commander of StarLight’s forces. Anna claimed that, had she competed, she could have beat him. Johnny simply laughed at her and made a comment about how those who don’t try, never succeed.
The day after the tournament’s end, Flint came home from HQ to a quiet house. Not so long ago, this would have been a normal occurrence in his life. Now, however, it made him extremely nervous. He knew Eve was home. He could feel her, but the pups were obviously gone.
Flint ran up the stairs and into the nursey. He hadn’t been wrong; the twins weren’t there. The Alpha walked to Gracie’s room but she wasn’t there either. His anxiety began to decrease. The pups could have gone with her. Still, he was confused about why their mother hadn’t gone with them.
He walked into the master bedroom, before freezing like a statue. Eve was sitting on the end of the bed with her legs crossed. She was wearing a see through, blue negligee with a high waisted thong. The flickering lights of the candles on the dressers and nightstands made her skin shine like it was golden.
Her honey blonde hair cascaded over her shoulders. Her glowing, sapphire blue eyes were circled with dark liner. Flint smiled and confidently caught her bashful gaze. He stepped closer to her, listening to his wolf’s excited howling.
“You’re beautiful.” Flint stated in a husky voice.
“Thank you.” Eve stood and closed the space between them, laying her palms on his chest.
The electricity of her touch nearly pushed him to grab her and throw her on the bed. Still, he restrained himself. He was curious as to what exactly Eve was thinking. His brain felt scrambled as he tried to calculate how many days old the pups were, while in the presence of Eve’s exposed skin.
“Flint...” She breathed against his lips. “It’s been six weeks.”
The Alpha gripped her waist as his lips covered hers. Eve twitched at the tender feeling in her neck. It felt nearly healed, though it was still sore at times. She’d never mentioned the pain to anyone; she’d always covered it up instead. Now, she refused to let this minor inconvenience stop her from being with her mate.
Flint pulled away from her and began pulling his clothes off, as if they were on fire. In moments, he was kissing her again. His tongue danced with hers. Eve gasped when he lifted her, wrapping her legs around his waist. Flint gently pulled on Eve’s lower lip with his teeth.
Her moan of pleasure sent chills up his spine. He couldn’t wait, he’d done too much waiting already. Waiting for the legend, the tea, the vine, the pups, her rescue. Flint wouldn’t waste another moment without her skin against his. He sat on the bed and fell back, this left Eve straddling him.
She ran her hand through her hair, pushing it back from her face. Flint smiled at the sight for a moment before he slid his hands over her breasts, squeezing them gently. He didn’t want to hurt her, but holding back wasn’t exactly something he excelled at doing.
“I’m not sore anymore.” Eve slipped the straps off her shoulders, allowing the airy gown to fall down and expose her chest. “And I pumped twice, so-”
Flint interrupted her, pressing his mouth to hers. He heard that she was healed and the last bit of his restraint broke away. He rolled her onto her back, switching their positions. Eve gripped his ribs tightly, savoring the closeness of him and the weight of his body on top of her.
His hips were so close to hers, so painfully close. Eve pulled his tongue into her mouth, sucking on it. Flint’s groan vibrated against Eve’s lips. He touched one of her knees, which was wrapped around his hip. Flint slid his had up her thigh, feeling the smooth skin there. He then hooked a finger in the thin waist band.
Eve lifted her hips to help him get them off, but he didn’t need it. He tore the fabric without hesitation. Flint threw the tiny piece of fabric across the room, shortly before the rest of her lingerie met the same fate. His lips consumed hers, not allowing even a breath of space between them. His fingers dimpled into her thighs, pulling her hips up to his.
She moved her lips to his throat and over the mark on his tender skin. Flint groaned as electricity shot through him. His hips bucked in response, filling her completely.
"Flint!" Eve yelped and threw her head back.
"Holy sh-" Flint tensed, his eyes widening. "Are you okay?"
Eve smiled up at him just before she rolled her hips. He hissed and pulled her chest against his. Flint groaned into her mouth as he began slowly setting a rhythm to her movements.
His nails pressed into her waist. His every muscle was tight and strained. Eve met his eyes and saw his devotion, along with a wall of restraint. She shifted her legs and swiveled her pelvis beneath his, making him growl lowly.
"Eve-" Flint's voice was hoarse and choked. "I don't want to hurt you."
"You won't." She stated, meeting his lips with hers.
He couldn't hold himself back any longer. He buried his hard length inside her roughly. Eve moaned loudly as his hips slapped harder and harder against her.
He began thrusting into her deeply, sweeping away her every thought. Electricity. It filled her veins, stoking the fire inside her. The friction of his skin, the smell of his sweat, the sounds of his breath... It was intoxicating.
Flint couldn't stop himself, he couldn't even slow his pace. Lightening. It coursed through his veins, awakening his every sense. His every nerve. Eve's fingers clenched into his lower back as her moans became out-cries.
Flint’s tongue brushed over the mark he'd placed on her skin. Her sweat tasted sweet to him. Eve felt the rising pleasure in her core sweep over her. Mingled howls echoed in their minds.
She screamed, holding onto her mate like he were her life raft in a storm. Her ecstasy filled Flint's body, fueling him. She arched, closing her walls on his manhood. Eve trembled, and gasped as Flint shuddered above her. The growl resonating from his chest, vibrated through her.
"Eve..." Flint placed a kiss on her lips, savoring their closeness.
He rolled beside her, pulling her to rest on his chest.
"I missed you." Eve whispered once she caught her breath.
"Me too." Flint smiled as he noted the presence of his scent covering her.
She began to fall asleep, listening to the sound of Flint's heartbeat, she loved the way it echoed in her chest beside her own pulse.
"So, how are you doing?" Flint probed.
"Cozy." Eve murmured.
"Good." Flint chuckled for a moment, before his smile fell away. "I meant... After everything?"
She plummeted into thought. She didn't have an answer to his question. Eve had hidden something from him, in the days after the twins were born. This wasn't something she would have done before. And that was just the beginning of the changes she'd noticed in herself.
She always closed the bathroom door, though she'd stopped locking herself in. Before, she and Flint showered with the threshold open. She used to curl into him as she slept. Now she slept in a defensive position, with her arms over her chest. Things were different. Good or bad; Eve wasn't sure.
"Eve?" Flint interrupted her thoughts.
She raised up enough to see his face. Her fingertips traced his beautiful, familiar features. His emerald green eyes were soft and warm.
"As long as I have you..." Eve whispered. "I'll be okay."
"You'll always have me." Flint kissed her lips.
"I love you, Flint." She bumped her nose against his.
"I love you too, Eve... More than anything." He wrapped his arms around her tighter.
The sound of the front door opening was followed by the sound of cries and Gracie’s cheerful humming. As if the yelling infants didn't bother her at all.
"The real world is calling." Eve glanced at the door.
"I'm surprised we avoided it for this long." He smiled ruefully.
"Yeah. I could only ask Gracie to watch them for so long." She sighed.
"Let's take a shower first." Flint sat up reluctantly.
"Sounds good to me." Eve agreed.
