Insatiable Desire by B.Mitchylle

Chapter 7

Chapter 7

Mia bit her lower lips as she looked at the examination table where she just examined the cute little Siberian named Rusko. She had about an hour more before she finish her shift and she couldn’t help but think about the thing that Trystan told her.

Her heart had been in disarray since he came.

If he was planning to wreak havoc inside her body, then he succeeded.

She bit her lower lip.

“Are you alright?”

Mia flinched when she heard Beth’s voice.

“Sure,” she shrugged as Beth smiled and sat next to her.

“You look troubled?

“Am I?” Mia let out an awkward laugh.

“Was it because of that guy?”

“What guy?” she feigned ignorance.

Beth batted her long eyelashes.

“Come on… I know it when I see it. Fuck buddy?”

Mia wanted to tell her to mind her own business. They just fucking met! Why was she acting as if they were so close?

But she didn’t.

“How did you know he’s not my boyfriend?”

“Was he?” Beth countered before laughing.

“No.” Mia cleared her throat. “And he is not a- he is not something like that.”

“Well, why not girl?” Beth asked. “He totally likes you!”

“How did you know that?”

“Aside from having six brothers?” Beth rolled her eyes and flipped her long hair that had been in a bun earlier. “Did you really think I become

this old without marrying someone just because I couldn’t find someone as adventurous as me?”

Mia blinked. “Adventurous?” She didn’t know if Beth meant what Mia had in mind.

Beth laughed in response. “When you know, you know.”

Another laughter escaped Beth’s red lips. “Please tell me if I am making. you uncomfortable. Miss Ronna said I tend to over-share with everyone. I guess she didn’t like to hear about my sex life?”

Mia didn’t know what to say. As an introvert, she didn’t spend so much time talking to people. And when she does, they don’t talk about sex.

She just started spending time with friends because of that bastard ex-fiance of hers. He was the exact opposite of her introverted nature and loved to interact with his friends- the same friends who helped him hide his affair and sexuality.

Seriously, just what was she expecting?

Mia sighed.

“Whoa… if I am making you uncomfortable please-”

“No.” Mia pursed her lips. “It’s not that. I just- I thought of someone.”

“That bad huh.” Beth smiled before sipping from her iced coffee. Mia didn’t even notice she was having one earlier. She wondered if this was because she was too preoccupied with Trystan’s visit.

“Well, that man earlier wanted you, and I suggest you do what you want. Stop thinking about it.”

“What?”

“You look like someone who would enjoy some heat or cold- Chicago is definitely different from Cali.”

“Right.””

“Seriously, he is a catch!”

“I know,” Mia forced a smile. Trystan is definitely a catch, and her official stepbrother in like six freaking days? How was she supposed to tell Beth

Chapter that?

She couldn’t.

A part of her didn’t really want to tell anyone about Trystan being her stepbrother. And that part was definitely wrong.

Seriously!

What the hell was wrong with her?

“Then what are you waiting for? Call him!”

“Hm?”

“I saw your phone. You left it inside the stock room earlier. Must have fallen or something.” Beth said as she handed Mia her phone. Of course, Mia knew Beth didn’t read it as it required her fingerprint to open it.

She accepted the phone and thanked her.

“I was thinking of waiting for you at the front desk since you were with a client earlier. But you didn’t come out even after that client left. So I came here to give you this.”

“Thanks,” Mia said.

“It had been vibrating since I picked it up.”

“Oh…” Mia immediately put the phone in her pocket. Honestly, she didn’t want to read Trystan’s message. The fact that he had given her some money felt a little insulting, and she had sent it back to him. Then she purposely put her phone in the stockroom, since she didn’t want to see his response.

Was it childish?

Definitely.

But she felt too irritated. She didn’t want to say something that she would. possibly regret.

“You know?” Beth said just as she got up. Mia lifted her eye towards the woman’s beautiful features.

“We only live once…. and if you are enjoying it, once is just enough.” Beth then gave her a wink before turning around and walking back to the front desk.

Chapter 7

For a few seconds, Mia just stared at the now vacant space where Beth had been standing earlier. She had heard of that quote before. She had seen it on the Internet.

But the way Beth said it really struck a nerve.

She looked at her phone, opened it, and was surprised to see only one message from Trystan and three messages from her mother.

First, she opened the message from her mother and sighed. It was the usual. How are you and I miss you’s and something about a new bag that Trystan’s father bought for her.

After a few seconds, she chose not to send a reply and close her messages. Then she opened Trystan’s message.

[I will be waiting.]

Shivers ran down her spine.

-She remembered how he said the same words when she called him.

Her heart thumped wildly as she pressed her legs together. Memories of what had transpired earlier filled her head.

Then she thought of Beth’s words.

Mia bit her lower lips before she typed a response.

[Alright]

Then she pressed send.

Not long after, Beth announced that someone named Mr. Timothy Milest was looking for her.

Almost immediately, Mia ran out of the examination room.

“Mr. Miles?” she asked the tall and domineering man, who was wearing an all-white suit and a stern-looking expression on his face. He was holding a paper bag on his left hand.

“Miss Hart, I am Timothy Miles. I have instructions to give this to you. I will be waiting for you outside to take you to your next appointment. Mr. Shaw will be waiting

Damn it, she thought inwardly.

This is it. There is no going back now.

It started with a game of cards.
