Inner Woman

Chapter Kite

Flying almost free

The wind takes me

To heights unimagined

Hundreds join

On the shoreline

Pulling people

Carts

Surfboards

In summer’s brisk breeze

Balmy bright sky

In winter’s gale

Pulling skiers hale

Over autumn’s leaves

To compete

Until spring brings

March and winds of change

One line, two lines

Or even four

I soar

As a strong taut foil,

My line carries spinning toys

With a tail I dance

Across field and beach

In war I was a

Spy machine

Radio

Camera

All between

With glass shard strings

My master tugs

My neighbor flutters

Stutters free

No longer tethered

Cannot strain

The bounds of earth

In storm I brought

Sweet discovery

Electric shock

Man’s long love

Progress

Insanity

But pleasure

Is my treasure

Families together

Joy

Hearts soar

As never before
