Inner Woman Volume 2

Chapter 53 Cataract

An interesting word

With only one vowel

It flows off the tongue

Like a river surging over

A granite wall

Plunging for hundreds of meters

Into a misty pool of

Rainbow laden drops

a cataract of beauty

The deluge of a hurricane,

Typhoon, or cyclone

bring swells of waves

from an angry ocean

or flooding water increasingly

higher

A cataract of disaster from

Mother Nature’s jest.

And the eyes of the aged

dim with the film

of an opaque curtain

as cataracts blur the stage

Such diversity of meaning

for a word with one vowel

which flows from the tongue

with context implied

rarely about water like it was

first intended

Now about grandfather’s sight

being coming to dim and foggy end
