No matter what Sophia’s introduction was like, Miranda had already made up her mind and was resolute. Sophia’s excitement was palpable. “What will be your preferred payment method, then, Ms. Sutton?” “Full payment.”

Lionel was taken aback e had no idea Miranda was actually serious about buying a villa–and that she had all the money ready.

He opened his mouth to say something but stopped as a sharp pain shot through his waist; Mindy had pinched him.

“Just let her do what she wants. Watch and don’t interfere,” she whispered.

Lionel had no choice but to swallow his words.

Sophia nervously accepted another bank card, then hurriedly prepared a stack of contracts.

“Ms. Sutton, are you sure you want to proceed? If everything looks good, I can process the payment right

now.”

Miranda nodded. “Go ahead.”

Sophia went through the motions; her actions were mechanical as she completed each step.

After watching Miranda sign the purchase agreement and hearing the finance team confirm, “The five million dollars has been credited,” the surreal feeling slowly began to fade.

Oh my god! What kind of luck was she having? In just two days on the job, she had sold a villa–and not just any villa, but a prime unit!

Five million dollars. It was beyond her wildest dreams!

Sophia couldn’t help but break into a wide grin. She looked almost silly until she caught sight of Wendy’s livid expression out of the corner of her eye.

She quickly tried to compose herself, but a giggle slipped out anyway.

That was a hefty commission–who wouldn’t have been thrilled?

Wendy, who had been strutting around with an air of superiority just moments ago, now wore a grimace. Her eyes were wide with shock.

“Sophia, w–what were you going to say just now?”

“Oh, Ms. Thompson, I was just going to mention that Ms. Sutton’s card is indeed a black card. I helped her choose the house type and negotiate the price in the VIP reception room. We came out just to finalize the paperwork.”

Wendy’s lips trembled. “I–Is she really going to buy it?”

“Absolutely! The contract is signed.” It was hard to imagine it being anything but true.

Miranda was unfazed by Wendy’s inner turmoil and walked past her without a second glance. “Dad, Mom,

I think we’ve seen enough for now. Should we head back and start packing?”

Lionel was still in a daze. “Packing… What for?”

“Even though we don’t need to move the furniture and appliances from the old house, you and Mom will need to bring your clothes and personal items to the new place, right?”

Lionel nodded slowly

he tried to process the situation. “Yes, yes, that makes sense. But wait… Where

from?”

It wasn’t until they stepped out of the sales office that Lionel began to grasp everything.

Back home, he sank onto the couch and rubbed his palms nervously against his thighs before finally asking, “Mimi, you bought a house?”

Miranda nodded.

“And it’s a villa?”

She nodded again.

“Full payment?”

Another nod.

Lionel fell silent for a solid ten seconds. “Buying a house is a major decision. Why didn’t you discuss it with us first?”

Miranda understood Lionel’s concerns and tried to reassure him. “We’ve lived in this house for so many years. We couldn’t keep fixing it up. Isn’t it normal to want a change?”

She added, “I kept it from you because I wanted it to be a surprise.”

Lionel’s frown deepened. “How much did the house cost?”

Miranda hesitated for a moment, then held up her hand with five fingers extended.

Lionel’s heart sank. He knew what that meant–five million dollars. A villa wasn’t going to be cheap.

Even though he had tried to prepare himself, hearing that number made his heart race. “Where did you get that kind of money? Did you max out your credit card? Or worse… borrowed from a loan shark?
