Chapter Independence 143

Chapter 0143

“Hmm? Where’s Jack? He’s back, isn’t he?”

“No, he’s still in Elgerson City,” Rena answered. “He’s busy with his startup company and couldn’t make it home for Christmas.”

Jenny was surprised. Jack started his own company? He’s really something,” she said with envy.

Rena smiled and replied, “He’s just experimenting. He’s young and still figuring things out.”

“I don’t think so. He’s so busy that he can’t even come home for the holidays. Jack is really making a name for himself. No wonder Mom and Dad think so highly of him.”

Anna and George had always favored Leonard’s family, and with Jack being the Suttons‘ only grandson, it was no surprise.

Jenny felt a mix of envy and jealousy. She wished she had a son of her own. But then she remembered Lionel’s family only had one daughter, and that seemed to balance things out.

A few years ago, Jenny was frustrated because Miranda had top grades while Quincey was always at the bottom.

But after Miranda graduated from college, she didn’t continue her studies or find a job, leaving her essentially unemployed.

In contrast, Quincey could still use Jenny’s connections to work at the power plant and eventually marry well. Hence, Jenny still felt that Quincey’s situation was better than Miranda’s.
