Chapter 13

"Why am I in your room?" I asked Rougan as I sat at the end of his bed and watched him pour water on from a pitcher. He brought me a glass, so I chugged the water down.

He gently caressed my cheek and smiled. "You'll sleep here tonight. And I hope you decide to sleep here for the remaining nights of your stay."

"It's nice to hear you say remaining nights. This place is nice, but I don't belong here." I smiled and handed the glass to him.

"You should rest now." He headed back to the table while I looked around.

"I won't receive a gift, then? Sawyer bought me a bow," I said.

He laid his arms and smiled at me. "How about your pretty privilege?"

I smiled and ran towards him to give him a kiss, so he wrapped his arms around my waist and cupped my cheeks to kiss me better. Then, he gently pulled away and smiled. "But seriously, come," he mumbled. He held my hand as he led me to his closet. In front of one of his cabinets stood an easel covered with white fabric. "What is that?" I asked.

"Take the cloth off."

I followed him, and my mouth hung open when the canvas revealed a glass mosaic of my image with a delicate frame. He hugged me from behind, so I rested my head on his chest while I admired his work. "It's beautiful." "I want to do it at a normal pace, but I had to make it fast. I just found out that it's your birthday today when I reread your records."

I chuckled softly and stared into my eyes in the canvas. "My eyes are prettier there."

"Really? I thought I didn't give them justice." A smile made its way onto my lips when he said that. "I was hesitant at first because it may not be as beautiful because you have the loveliest eyes and nicest lips I've ever seen." "Kiss me then," I teased.

He held my arm, so I faced him while cupped my cheeks to claim my lips. His tongue made its way into my mouth quickly while a warm pleasure travelled across my body. I tried to untie the lace of my bodice, but he already ripped my dress in half, prompting my breasts to bounce from the force.

His lips went down to my neck while he wrapped his arm around my waist and carried me to pull my dress down. I could feel my head going blank when he gave me wet kisses until I felt the wall against my back.

"You don't know how much I wanted to taste you again," he whispered.

I smiled and bit my lip while he carried me with my legs as they wrapped around his hip and his mouth played with my bud. A soft moan escaped my lips while his fingers fiddled with my throbbing folds. I almost lost my strength, but I felt as light as a feather when he carried me with no sweat.

He rubbed himself against me, prompting me to moan into his mouth while he claimed my lips. I heard the sound of my ripping drawers before his fingers touched my wet cherry. I jolted in pleasure as I tried to grind myself against his fingers. My heart raced from his touch and kisses while my body asked for more. He didn't disappoint me when I felt his hard member trying to enter down there. I gripped onto his shoulder while he held onto my butt. We growled in unison when he filled me to the brim, my legs trembling from his size.

"You're the only one who can do this to me," he mumbled. "You make me want to stay in bed all day." I couldn't answer him when he claimed my lips again and began thrusting. We filled the room with loud moans until I felt him pushing himself deeper.

I buried my nails into his skin while he took me behind the couch. I kneeled facing the backrest and bent over. "You've been invading my dreams since the day we met," he whispered from behind while he pulled my hair and began thrusting again, causing an echo of our skin slapping against each other.

"Oh, god..." I growled while gripping onto the cushion. My breasts swung back and forth from his force while he took one of my legs and rested my knee on the couch's frame. I've never been screwed like this, and he just fulfilled my fantasies. His hands fiddled with my clitoris while he was thrusting from the back. I almost lost my breath from too much pleasure, but I enjoyed every second. He pulled my hair closer to him and licked my neck while he did wonders to me. "More, Rougan," I whispered in between my moans, and he obliged. So we spent the night enjoying each other, and our only rest was only a few minutes after every climax.

**

I felt a cold weight against me, so I opened my eyes and found Rougan's arm resting on my under boob. He had his neck positioned above my arm while his head relaxed beside mine, facing the pillow. I could feel his warm breath on my ear, entirely different from the temperature of his body.

Cooper suddenly popped in my head, so I gently pulled myself away and went to Rougan's closet to get a robe. My legs trembled, and I almost felt my cheeks heating when I remembered how rough we did it last night.

I walked up to the lawn and looked at the sky when the sun blinded me. The dome was still there, and I still couldn't bring myself to believe that I created that. The Sunkens were already used to my presence, so no one threw second looks at me anymore, whatever I wore.

"What's with you and walking only with a robe on?" Sawyer spoke while he walked up to me from my far left.

"I don't have clothes in Rougan's room," I defended.

"He must have ripped your dress again, hasn't he?"

I bit my lower lip and gave him a wry smile. "That dress was expensive, wasn't it?"

He tsked at me and looked away. "He already spent more during your stay here than he ever spent for a month."

I looked around the mansion behind us and rested my hands on my hips. "Where is Cooper's lab?" I asked him.

He pointed his thumb over his shoulder. "First floor. 2nd door to the left hallway. They're waiting for you."

I nodded before walking away, but I turned to face him before I stepped into the door. He hasn't walked away yet. Instead, he stood there watching the ground while he rested his hands on his hips.

"Tell me, Sawyer." He turned when I spoke. "Can I trust Paige and Lauren?" I asked.

He blinked and fell quiet for a while, maybe processing my question. "In this village, we trust each other," he replied before walking away.

I went to my room and changed into a grey dress and a pair of boots before heading to Cooper's lab. His room smelled like lavender while shelves surrounded the walls. There's a long table in the centre of the room, filled with different jars and herbs.

Paige and Cooper sat across from each other at the other end of the table. I stayed close to the door while Lauren came in holding some papers that she handed to Paige. She then grabbed the book on the table and pulled a chair beside Cooper.

"That's Dani's seat. Go to the couch by the window," Cooper told her without taking his eyes off the table. Lauren shot a look at me before she rolled her eyes and went to the couch.

"How is it going?" I asked Cooper.

"Almost ready," he answered, so I finally walked towards him. When I got close, I tapped my fingers on the table and watched him measure a liquid.

"Why do you need the Sapper, anyway?" I asked and settled on the chair.

"Oh, you have no idea how much I'd make if I sell this."

I blinked and stared at him, trying to find out if he's serious. "You know that someone invented the Reisin so humans could be protected, right? So now you want to produce something commercially that would defeat the purpose of the Reisin?"

Paige glanced at me while she held magnifying glass, picking up specific bits of leaves from the plate in front of her. "You and your fake righteousness again," she murmured. "You're going to benefit from this, so if I were you, I would stop sticking my nose into someone else's business."

I sighed and leaned against my chair. "Well, you said you need my blood. How much?"

Cooper poured the contents of the flask into a beaker. "That's the problem. We don't know."

I chuckled and looked away. "So we're doing trial and error here?"

"Do you want to leave this place or not?"

I laid my forearm on the table. "How painful it is to be bitten?" I asked.

He shot a look at my wrist before turning to me. "Rougan hasn't bitten you?"

"Why would he?" I asked.

He chuckled and shook his head before turning to Paige. "Her power was that strong?" he asked.

Paige glared at him before glancing at me and turning back to what she was doing. I sighed and crossed my arms atop the table. "You're not gonna tell me about it, are you?" I looked at them, who had their eyes glued on the table now. "Believe me, Dani. It wouldn't be of help to be excited about learning more concerning your true nature and what you have done," said Paige.

"What have I done?"

She shook her head before she stood and inched towards a shelf behind her. She placed a knife and a beaker atop the table, just a few inches away from my forearm. "Cut your palm and pour your blood here. Fill about 100 millilitres." I took the knife and stared at its blade. "What does my blood do exactly?"

"It neutralizes the lead inside and makes it safe to drink."

I tilted my head as the sunlight passing through the window reflected on the blade. "That means you need my blood for every dose of Sapper?" I asked as I slowly pointed the knife towards Cooper's neck. He gently sat straight while everyone fell silent. "You will not kill me for my blood, will you?" I asked.

He smiled before shaking his head. "You don't kill the hen who bears the golden eggs. That's what Aesop said in his fable."

I pulled my hand away and started slitting my palm. My blood started dripping into the beaker, and I could see the three inhaling in unison. "No one's going to suddenly suck me dry, right?" I asked.

"Oh, no. He's going to smell this-" A bang on the door interrupted Paige, so we all stood in shock. What on Earth?

Rougan destroyed the door as he stood there looking around. Then, when he met my gaze, I saw a familiar look in his eyes. It's an immeasurable amount of worry, making him look like he's not himself again.

"What have you done?!" he asked Paige while he ran towards me at full speed. My bleeding hand was already on top of his, causing my blood to stain on his palm.

"She isn't harmed, Rougan," said Paige as she turned to the door. "Sawyer!" she called, so he also came in at full speed.

"Did it hurt? What were they doing?" Rougan asked me anxiously. I pulled my hand away and looked at him in confusion.

"Did you rush here? I am fine."

"Why is she bleeding?!" Rougan yelled at Paige, prompting me to take a step back. His hand gripped on mine, so I winced in pain.

"Rougan..." I whispered.

Sawyer suddenly ran towards Rougan and was about to stab him with something, but he caught his wrist and twisted his arm, forcing his friend to kneel. "Ah!" Sawyer growled and tried pulling his arm away but to no avail. "Wake up, Rougan! Fuck!" he yelled.

I gasped and stepped back again while Lauren ran towards Rougan too, but he caught her neck. Cooper pulled me away as I watched them in dread. What is he doing?! From my peripheral, I caught Paige pointing a revolver at him. "No, wait!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, but it was too late. I closed my eyes from the loud noise.

The bullet went into Rougan's shoulder, prompting him to fall straight to the floor. Lauren and Sawyer froze in unison as they threw a look at me. "What have you done?!" I yelled.
