Chapter 2
When we arrived back at the pack house I felt so at home. Being locked in that room for two weeks brought me to a dark place, and now I'm happy that it's over. Henry is waiting outside as we pull in the drive way, I rush out and give him a giant hug. "Henry I missed you, you're doing so well!" All the bandages are gone and he's back to normal.
"Evan I was so worried about you, I thought they were never going to find you." His hold on me tightens. "I don't know what Sebastian would have done."
Bruiser come trotting out the front door and starts to give me kisses on my leg, I bend down and hug him too. "I missed you buddy, I'll take you on a walk once we get settled in."
"Did he hurt you? You're covered in blood." Henry asks but is distracted by Sebastian.
"I sent your father with a guard to show him where he'll be staying." He comes up from behind me.
I nod and follow Henry inside.
"Thank the moon goddess that you're safe." Marinas appears from around the corner and pulls me into a motherly hug.
"I missed you Marina, I missed everyone."
"I'll go run a bath so you can relax, oh, I'll also set out a clean pair of clothes." She cringes at Sebastian's bloody shirt and scurries upstairs.
Henry leaves us and we too go up into the bedroom. Marina is busy in the bathroom when we walk in. Immediately I run and crash into the bed, feeling the soft fabric against my legs.
"I couldn't sleep." Sebastian mutters and sits on the edge of the bed.
I scoot over to him and lean against his back while on my knees. "Don't worry, I'm back." I loosely wrap my arms around him. "I'll be right beside you every night now."
His muscles calm under my touch and he takes a deep breath. "Did he do anything to you?"
"No, not besides marking me if that's what you mean."
"He didn't hurt you?" He pulls me onto his lap so he can see my face.
I think back to the first few days. "Well, he slammed my head against a wall."
He tenses and tilts my head up with his fingers under my chin. "He slammed your head against a wall?"
"To knock me out." I shrug pretending like its no big deal, wanting to forget everything and move on.
"Did you black out Evangeline?" His tone turns stern.
"Yes, but it's not that big of a deal." It's then that a realize what he's worried about, and I haven't thought about it myself. The familiar urge to vomit rises in my stomach again.
"Hurry we're going to the doctor." He stands up and sets me on my feet.
"Right now? I just got back." I try and make the situation less serious.
"We're going now." He stares at me straight in the eyes before grabbing my hand and dragging me down the stairs.
"Where are you going?" Henry calls to us but Sebastian pulls me out the door before I can tell him.
He opens the door for me and closes it then gets in himself. It doesn't take long until we pull up to the doctors office and he rushes me inside. I sit down in a waiting chair, embarrassed to be dressed in only a bloody shirt, while he heads for the front desk.
Soon enough a female doctor appears and motions for me to follow her along with Sebastian. "I don't like this." I mumble and cross my arms. I could be taking a nice hot bath just about now.
"I know, I'm sorry. I just want to make sure you're okay." He places his hand on the small of my back when we reach a small examination room and I sit on the special table lined with a long sheet of paper. Sebastian sits on it with me and rests his hand on my thigh, giving me a giddy feeling I can't control.
"Hello Evangeline, I'm Doctor Swanson." She reaches her hand out and I hesitantly shake it. She must know about the whole werewolf thing if she doesn't wonder why I'm wearing a bloody t-shirt. "Alpha Tate just want me to give you a quick check up." A sweet smile lights up her face.
"I know what this is about."
"You do?" Sebastian says a bit quieter and she gives him a worried look.
I sigh and a wave of sadness comes over me. "You want to make sure he didn't hurt me, in a different kind of way, after he knocked me out." I say and look down at my hands. "Just get it over with."
Sebastian's hand rubs soothing circles on my back and she sits down. "I'm going to ask a few questions, I can have the Alpha leave if you want."
"No." I answer quickly and grab his hand, so he continues to rub my back.
"Have you ever partaken in sexual activities before these resent events?"
My cheeks heat up. "No."
"Did anyone force you to do anything sexual while you were away?"
"Not... Not that I know of." I take a shaky breath and hold Sebastian's hand a little tighter.
"Are you currently taking any prescription medications?"
"No."
Once she finished with the questions Sebastian left for a quick moment for the examination and tests. I tried to block everything out, not wanting to remember any of it. I was relived when he could come back in and he sat back down beside me on the table again. "I hate this." I whisper to him.
"I'm sorry, I just want to make sure you're okay, that he didn't hurt you."
I lean into him and try to keep my eyes open. A few minutes later she comes back with a clipboard and she sits back down. "Okay so from the information I collected there seems to be no infections or diseases and I see no signs of sexual assault." I wish he wasn't here to hear all of this, it's too embarrassing.
Sebastian sighs. "Thank you."
Another wave of relief runs through me from her words and I can finally go home and take my bath.
"You two can leave when you're ready." She smiles and leave the room, giving us privacy.
"I want to go." I say lowly.
"I know you didn't want to come, I just wanted to make sure you're healthy." He gets up and stands in front of me, placing his hands on my knees.
"I know." I mumble and look away from him. I don't think I can handle anymore embarrassment.
"Let's go home."
The drive back was quiet, mostly because I was constantly falling asleep. By the time we got home Sebastian carried me and brought we upstairs into the bedroom. I slowly began to wake up but he laid me on the bed anyways. "I want to take a shower." I rub my eyes and sit up.
"Just don't fall."
I nod and trudge to the bathroom, looking in the mirror. I touch my hair and frown, it's just like my mothers. How could I leave her there? How could I leave her like a dead animal? Guilt takes over and regret clouds my mind, tears pile in my eyes. I'm a horrible daughter. I sniffle and sit down on the edge of the empty bathtub. Soon enough tears stream down my cheeks and I can't help but let out a small sob.
She's dead and I left her to rot all alone.
Not wanting Sebastian to hear me, I turn on the shower and let the water hitting the tile floor cover the sounds of my crying. After everything we've been through, I leave her.
Soon enough I step in the shower and clean up, when I'm down I change into the pajamas Marina set out earlier. I brush my teeth and comb out my knotted locks. When I'm finished I enter the empty bedroom. Where's Sebastian?
I walk downstairs to find out Mariana has gone home and I don't see Henry anywhere. Sebastian must be in his office. "Sebastian?" I call down the hallway.
"I'm just in here!"
I push open the office door and find him on the phone, so I sit down on the couch off to the side. I fiddle with my fingers until he finishes. "Are you ready for bed?"
I nod and let out my thousandth yawn.
We go back upstairs and he quickly gets ready for bed before joining me under the covers. "Finally I can get some sleep." He mutters and pulls me against him, wrapping his arm around me, but I turn to face him and I wrap my arm around his torso.
I breathe in his scent as it sends me into a deep, wonderful sleep. Hopefully I forget all about today and dream of puppies and Sebastian, Sebastian and I playing with a bunch of puppies. I want a puppy.
