Chapter 1
Chapter 1
My fiancé Archer fell in love with someone else, and when he suffered from kidney failure, I selflessly donated a kidney despite my health.
Eight years later, Emily, his lost love, returned.
I then realized that the person who suffered from kidney failure wasn’t Archer but Emily.
I thought Archer just didn’t like me, but I didn’t expect him to be so despicable.
I threw the divorce settlement to him, laughing crazily, “Archer, congratulations, you finally have what you desire.”
Instead, he sent Emily to prison and hugged me tightly, “Leila, I won’t divorce. I will return your kidney and you’ll give back my love.”
I lay quietly on a chair, enjoying the rain. Maeve came in and whispered, “Mrs. Lopez, Mr. Lopez said he has a social event tonight and won’t be back.
Watching the heavy rain outside the window and hearing Maeve’s nervous report, my heart remained calm. I said, “Okay, I understand, you may leave.”
Maeve heard my calm voice and asked surprised, “Mrs. Lopez, aren’t you going to pick up Mr. Lopez?” Without answering, I softly said, “Maeve, don’t tell me about Archer’s affairs in the future.”
Hearing this, Maeve looked at me in shock. She hesitated but said nothing.
I knew my actions were unconventional.
Previously, I’d urged Archer to come home immediately after work, regardless of his whereabouts or
reasons.
Archer and I were childhood sweethearts, and I adored him from a young age.
Archer was Derek’s only son. He had a stubborn and rebellious personality since he was young, but only listened to my advice.
After graduating from high school, Derek arranged our marriage and Archer had no objections. At that time, I thought Archer really liked me.
Unexpectedly, when we were in our sophomore year, Archer fell in love with a girl from the same department. He begged me to cancel our engagement, but I refused.
As graduation approached, Archer suddenly suffered from kidney failure and needed a kidney transplant.
I was so anxious that I rushed to the hospital to do the matching.
Surprisingly, I was matched.
Thus, I donated Archer a kidney.
Since then, my health, which was already poor, had deteriorated further.
After graduation, Archer was forced to marry me by Derek, threatening him with favor and his life. At that time, he began to hate me.
In the same year, the girl that Archer liked died in a car accident.
He hated me even more.
After Derek’s death, no one in this world could restrain him.
He was completely free.
Late at night, I felt unwell and went to bed early.
I sensed some movement on the mattress, it was Archer coming back.
His slightly cool hands slowly wrapped around my waist and held me tightly in his arms.
I held his hand gently, trying to avoid his approach.
Archer casually released his grip, “Why didn’t you call me to go home tonight?”
I closed my eyes and said calmly, “I’m tired and don’t want to call.”
Archer chuckled, “Making a phone call doesn’t take much effort on your part.”
I whispered, “I feel unwell and have no strength.”
Archer said, “I’ll take you to the hospital tomorrow.”
Feeling uneasy, I replied calmly, “I’m fine, you needn’t bother.”
Archer smiled and said nothing more. His rough hands kept touching my body, creating an air of
tension.
I grabbed his hand and said in a deep voice, “You smell of alcohol, step back.”
Archer chuckled and let me go indifferently, “Alright, my lady.”
After he left, I closed my eyes and fell asleep quickly.
As soon as he finished taking a shower, he couldn’t wait to hold me in his arms and put his hands into
my skirt.
I grabbed his hand, saying, “Archer, I told you I’m not feeling well.”
Archer chuckled and wanted to continue regardless.
I slapped him and looked at him expressionlessly.
Archer looked at me, his eyes full of anger.
After a while, he angrily slammed the door and went to the guest room. I looked at his departing back indifferently.
