Chapter 36 - Home
Viraat had told both Imal and Isha his story months after they became friends. Both, on hearing it had insisted that he leave. He had stayed. But the need to go back home was stronger than ever as time went by and so he began his journey home.
Iker smiled as he looked at Avadh posing to be asleep. All four of their sons were looking at their father's face curiously.
"Father- "Jana almost rebuked him through his lisp. Iker can already see a mother hen in the making. He still found it hard to believe that he carried these beautiful beings in him for months and gave birth to them, that they came out of him and Avadh. They all looked like mini Avadh with Iker's eyes.
Avadh opened his eyes and looked at them all and jumped on them, enveloping all four of them into his arms. They just shrieked in delight.
Iker rolled his eyes.
"Dad is just jealous," said Avadh.
Iker scoffed though it was true. He was a bit jealous that he was now standing on the side with breakfast for six when he should be curled up in his husband's arms. Said husband got up with all four kids. The two oldest have learned to hang onto his shoulders, so, he now carried the younger two.
"Monkeys," said Iker exasperated as he took Jana and Carles from Avadh's shoulder and glaring at Avadh warningly.
"Father," said Jana stubbornly.
"Yeah okay, your father is the monkey," said Iker barely holding back the laughter.
Avadh made his sons sit on the sofa, all four of them and looked at Iker and pulled him into his arms and started sniffing him. Iker blushed and he swatted on Avadh's chest.
"King, kids will see," said Iker as Avadh resumed his kissing.
"King- Avadh kids will see," said Iker as he gave in to his husband's ministrations.
"Hungry" screeched Carles and Avadh rested his head above Iker's as they both laughed.
Hale was glaring at Vansh who was trying to not look guilty. Ira sat on his side as she cuddled up to her father. They were both being dressed down by Hale for eating pudding in the morning. Both had raided the fridge early morning and has had a bloody pudding.
"You could just have woken me up and I would have made you something. Pudding? Really Vansh, setting a great example for her and pampering her beyond belief. I am done with you both," said Hale and stormed off in anger. Vansh and Ira looked at each other. She had Vansh's eyes and hair and Hale's face.
Vansh cannot imagine his life without his little angel. She was his everything and Hale- Hale meant life itself to him.
"Let's go chill your dad, okay?" asked Vansh Ira nodded sombrely knowing they were in trouble.
They went down to see Hale setting breakfast for both of them. Ma was smiling seeing the two of them cowering before Hale and standing back. Arav and Piya were also smirking.
Ira ran to Tara.
"Traitor, you cheat," called Vansh to his daughter as she left with Tara laughing Hale rolled his eyes.
"Hale, look, baby, I am so sorry. We were so hungry- Okay It was a great pudding and we couldn't wait till morning, so we had it late night after you slept actually," spluttered Vansh as he saw Hale's glare intensify.
Iker snorted into his coffee and patted Avadh's back who was also having a fit of cough while he tried not to laugh.
Hale's face broke into a smile and he laughed.
"I can't believe you splutter like a kid when I get angry," said Hale taking Vansh's hand in his and making the man sit down. Vansh sighed.
"I am so sorry baby," said Vansh.
Hale shook his head and dropped a kiss on Vansh's forehead before he went off to get breakfast for the man.
Viraat looked at his sleeping son. He looked like a mini Viraat. Zal had named him Viraj and everyone calls him Vir for short. The two-year-old was fast asleep. When he was not, he would be breaking all hell loose with the rest of the five and Tara.
He was on the smaller side for now. But Zal was sure he would reach Viraat's height. It has been close to 2 years 7 months and 28 days since Viraat left home and including Ma, all had advised him to go find his own happiness. They said they wouldn't mind if he decided to let go. But what he told them was the truth. He had already let go of everything. He had chosen this. Viraat, he knew would come back to them or Zal was ready to wait till his mate did.
He was just sad that Viraat lost out on two beautiful years on their son's life. To make up for it Zal has made an album for Viraat. He has also made many video recordings of the milestones. They were all losing hope that Viraat might return, but Zal knew he would come. Viraat should know that Zal and their kid had no one else in this world other than him. Oh yes, he loved their family. They all loved him too. But, in the end, they were all separate units too. Zal knew it was foolish to stare at the entrance. But, every day he did that for hours.
"King, Prince Viraat is at the borders," said one of the hunters, rushing in.
Avadh sprang to his feet, so did everyone else.
"Is he on his way?" asked Avadh.
"Yes, I am, King- brother," said Viraat who was shifting back into human form at the entrance.
Avadh extended his hand and Viraat crashed onto his arm hugging him tightly. Ma, Vansh, Arav, Piya, Iker and Hale all took turns hugging him and pecking him.
Then, Viraat had a handful of Tara who just crushed him followed by Atrey who was crying. Then, all family members greeted him. Viraat's attention fell on the younger kids and saw Ira and immediately knew she was Vansh's and looked at the other four mini Avadh's and laughed.
"Four?" he asked Iker and Avadh who smiled and nodded.
He hugged them all and introduced himself as Viraat, their super fun uncle.
Then Viraat looked around. He knew Zal was here. He could sense Zal from the borders.
"He is here," said Viraat looking at Hale and Iker both of whom nodded.
"Is there any family get together here?" asked Viraat, uncertain He was not sure he was prepared to see Zal with his husband and probably kid by now. James? Wasn't that the guy's name.
"No, Zal lives here," said Arav.
Viraat was surprised.
Then they heard the door from the side wing open and Zaleno stood there.
Viraat looked at him. Zal looked tired. His face had creases of worry. He could see it even from this far. He can only smell Zal and something of himself.
Zal just stared at his Alpha.
Zal couldn't believe that Viraat was finally home. That the man was now standing in the hall looking at him. He looked more rugged and tired.
Viraat stepped up the stairs and Zal stood like a rock unable to move his feet.
"Hey"
"Hey"
"How are you?" asked Viraat "I am good. You?" asked Zal Viraat nodded.

"Did you find someone?" asked Zal.
Viraat shook his head.
"I left whatever I had and found, here," said Viraat and he couldn't look at Zal's face and not hug him, so he excused himself.
"I will just go and freshen up," said Viraat.
Zal nodded.
Viraat reached his room. He could sense another presence. He just hoped Zal's new family was not in there.
Viraat stepped in and was surprised to see that the room did not look much different. There were pictures in the drawing room, he could see it from the entrance itself as the light fell on them. But he couldn't see what was in them what with the length of his bedroom between him and the walls.
Viraat saw movement and saw a tiny body stir in his bed. The kid turned and Viraat felt his luggage leave his hand. There was no point of even raising a question like "Is he mine?"
He definitely was. Viraat looked at the perfect mini him who sat in his bed. The kid, his kid was now looking at him curiously.
"Dad" the child trotted to the door. Viraat need not turn to know who would be standing there. He turned to see Zal picking up their son.
"Crying? "asked the kid as he wiped at Zal's eyes and glared at Viraat as if he just knew that the man made his dad cry.
"Go Wy" the kid said and Zal shook his head.
"I am not sad. I am just happy. He is not making me sad," said Zal.
Viraat's son looked up at him then.
"Stay," he said curling into his dad's arms.
Zal looked at Viraat. There were a thousand things he needed to say. But all that came out was a plea.
"Stay"
