Chapter 34 – The Next Generation
When Hale decided it was time to give birth, the time on the clock in the wall of their room was 2 am. His contractions had begun and Vansh stood helplessly as healers tended to Hale.
Vansh had come home along with Avadh to find Hale in pain and forcibly keeping Iker silent about the beginning of the contractions.
"They will panic and you know how Vansh is. He will just end up getting killed if he gets distracted," said Hale "Yeah, not because he will go mad and run to the palace in a few seconds," snorted Iker giving Hale a knowing look. "Yeah, that too," said Hale.
"Don't glare too much at him. You should be resting properly too," said Zal giving soup to both Hale and Iker.
"So did you feed Viraat Junior in there?" asked Iker making Zal sit down next to them.
"We will be just fine," said Viraat.
"No, you won't be. Now you are going to have this," said Iker shutting down all avenues for an argument.
They had sent Zal to sleep early. By 2 am when both Avadh and Vansh came, the pain had reached an unbearable level.
"A girl, what do you want to name her?" asked the healer.
Vansh sat down on his knees by Hale's side. Hale was smiling at him urging him to name her.
"Ira Halen Vansh Alwar," said Vansh.
Hale shook his head in exasperation.
"That is going to be a mouthful," said Hale.
"My little champ is going to be brilliant. She would be a pro by 3 to say her full name," said Vansh.
"If you say so," teased Hale.
"Did you like the name?"
"Yes, I do need her to be a watchful girl. We have a child at hand to handle," teased Hale.
"Funny," scowled Vansh but just hugged him close.
Vansh looked at Hale.
"You know if it was not for you, I would now be six feet under and now see, a father, holding the most beautiful daughter on earth," said Vansh looking at his daughter and back at Hale.
"You wanted reasons to live and I gave you those reasons. I just hope you stay and that those dark days in your our lives never return," said Hale.
Vansh bent down and kissed his daughter. Then he looked at Hale and kissed on his face.
"I wish Viraat was here to see his nephew," said Vansh.
"We all do," said Avadh as he fondly looked at his niece and smiled seeing Iker's expression as he held the child.
"They like her," said Iker to Avadh. The Healer has already said that they will have more than one kid. Avadh smiled.
"I am sure she is going to make a mean older one," said Avadh Anthony's eyes were squinting as he looked at her. They saw she was staring at Anthony, finally seeing something interesting, her older cousin. Cristian took her and brought her to Ahem and Anthony both of whom looked equally ecstatic about the baby.
Zal took the child and brought her to Ma who looked happy after a long time now. The only sadness she had at the moment was about Viraat. As if Zal could read her mind, he said "He said He will come back home and he will. We will just wait."
Iker looked so cute with his pregnant belly. Avadh knew he will never get over it. Right now, he was propped on the bed, supporting his stomach which was now huge as he spoke to their kids.
"So, that was how your father apologised and I took him back out of pity. Now, my point is - I will personally shed your skins if either of you behaves so to your mate," said Iker, a small smile on his lips and he shot Avadh an annoyed glance but went back to patting his stomach.
Iker threw a pillow at the smug King seated on a chair in the corner.
"Don't say I am cute ever again. Iker Maximilian De Russe- Alwar is not - cute", Iker sound appalled as he uttered the last word.
"You are Iker and is that how you treat your husband, mate, lover, friend and father of your children all in one man," asked Avadh teasing Iker.
Iker scowled and then huffed. They both heard the distress call then.
Avadh looked at Iker.
"Seems in the northern end," said Avadh.
"Don't go- I- have a bad feeling about it. What if I give birth when you are away?," said Iker.
Avadh looked at him.
Iker looked away.
"I know I shouldn't ask you to forego your duties. I just, I am just scared I guess. Who would believe if I said that the most dangerous werewolf in the history of Ilse and the Northern Continent is scared?" said Iker.

"I would. I know you are scared for me. We - There are many families in that area, Ike, like us. People with a lot of hopes and they also have kids. What if one life is lost and we will never be able to make up for it," said Avadh. Iker nodded.
"Come back fast, will you?" asked Iker.
Avadh nodded and dropped a kiss on Iker's face as he left.
Iker was pacing the hall like a madman with his heavily pregnant belly. He just wanted to see Avadh. The pain had started the moment Avadh left the palace boundaries.
"Please hold on. Wait till your father gets back," said Iker placing his hand his stomach.
"You really need to go to the infirmary now, Ike," said Zal placing his hand around Iker. "But King-
"He will be here soon, come on, now," said Zal and he forced Iker to the infirmary.
Iker was three hours in labour when Avadh rushed in. Avadh cleaned himself up before running to the infirmary. Iker finally let a breath out on seeing Avadh.
If a year before someone told Iker that he would give birth to kids, he would have scoffed at them and probably injured them. Now, he was actually going through it with his husband. Iker almost laughed hysterically. All he remembers is hearing cries of his babies.
