I Want You Back

Chapter 42

Angel Leffman

Wonderful days do exist. I lived some of those days thanks to Sofia, but not I figured not everything would be so. I know that sooner or later, there will come another problem.

I know something was going through her mind when we had lunch and I was right. She was very direct about it and it caught me off guard.

"Angel, are you listening to me? Did you see how she treated us?" And this is what Sofia left me with. My mother and sister's complaints.

"She was rude, and you shouldn't have spoken to us like that in front of her," Angelica whined like the spoiled brat that she is.

"And are you not?" I snapped and she looked away. "She said nothing that is not true and since you are here, let me tell you something, I do not want to hear you say that I broke up with Sofia ever again." ""But..."

"No buts, mom. It's my life and you have no right to meddle with my personal life. Sofia is my wife. She is a Leffman. If she asked for respect, you give it to her. And you, brat, learn to be more polite and keep your sharp tongue quiet if you don't want to see me mad."

"Did you scold me because of her after how she treated us?" Angelica asked in disbelief, her mouth hanging open.

"She has a name and it's Sofia, your sister-in-law, my wife, and she didn't say anything that hurt anyone, she just responded to your comments that was uncalled for. If I ever witness it again, you will see me angry, and you will not like that, Angelica. So start behaving and stop being spoiled, capricious and lazy. Have you thought about going to school or working?"

Angelica gasped in exasperation and looked at our mother who came to her rescue.

"Angel, she is still young."

"Young? But not young enough for parties, and traveling with her friends. It's time for you to reflect and see what you're going to do with your life. You want to keep that capricious life? Start earning for them. I'm tired of your attitude."

"Are you not angry after your wife's family had an event and we are not invited? That's just disrespectful, Angel. Do you know the excuses I have to give when people asked us why we're not there?" My mother said dramatically, as if it's the end of the world.

"And whose fault is it? Aren't you the ones who said that we no longer have any connection with her family? That we're through? So stop complaining. After all, you only acknowledge her when you need them."

Mom is looking at me like she doesn't recognize me anymore. "What happened to you, Angel? You're not the same as you were months ago."

"Maybe not. Are we done here? I'd better leave becahse I lost my appetite," I stood up and looked at my sister. "I'm giving you a week to think about what you're going to study because you don't want me to decide for you and keep your mouth shut. I don't want to get into trouble, and the same goes for you mom."

I was about to leave when mom spoke again. "And what about Elisa? You don't care about her feelings anymore? That poor girl loves you so much, Angel."

"Mother, I will decide and resolve my personal life, you and my father have done enough, so don't interfere. In case you forgot, it's hanks to him and to you that I am married to Sofia, so don't complain now because I'm getting tired of it."

I left without waiting for their response because I might hear their complaints again. Who said Sofia also has a sharp tongue? They deserved that for treating her like that.

What do I feel for her and what do I feel for Elisa? A good question. With that in mind, I decided to go see Elisa, because I knew can't ignore her just like that.

I reached her house after half an hour with the intention of clearing up my feelings a little, or rather my conscience.

"You finally decided to appear," Elisa greeted me when she came out. "May I know what have you been up to these days?"

"With me? Nothing much. What could happen to me?"

"Angel, we agreed to meet a few weeks ago and you barely answered my messages and calls. Then I see a photo of you with that woman at an event. Did you know she had an affair with Alexis?" Now, where did she get that? "Don't look at me like that, that is the truth." "How do you know about Alexis if it's confidential?" She seemed surprise when I asked her.

She opened her mouth but closed it again and I sighed in frustration. "Elisa, you shouldn't repeat what you hear when you're not even there. First of all, it's rude. Secondly, you could hurt someone and finally, you'll get into a lot of trouble."

"You doubt what a man like him would say, don't you know him?"

"And you? Why are you so confident that you are defending him?"

"I am not defending him, but he is a respected man and it is unjust to treat him in such a way. And we know Sofia. Should I remind you what she did to separate us?"

"You don't need to remind me because I haven't forgotten, but that's not what we're talking about, this is about Alexis and I won't talk about that with you."

"Okay, then explain to me about the party and the pictures." She demanded with her arms crossed.

"What do I have to explain to you? Sofia is my wife. Who else should I be with if not her?" I threw back without looking away from her.

Elisa seemed shock by what I said. "What did you say? Is that what you want tell me?"

"Elisa, I didn't come here to argue, but to talk," I breathed deeply to keep my emotions at bay.

"I'm sorry, dear, I don't want to argue either, but when it comes to Sofia I can't think straight. It still hurts and I remember that we are not together because of her." She said with a sniff, her eyes filling with tears.

"It wasn't because of her, Elisa. You broke up with me. You saw the pictures and the baby happened. You told me that I must marry her to avenge you and my baby. You also told me to stick to my family and the company so I won't lose it. That I must marry her for social status and reputation. But she wasn't the one who separated us."

"How can you say that? She set that trap and she just laughed at me while I was dying on the floor instead of helping me! She even hit me a few times, Angel!" She exclaimed while crying.

"Don't cry Elisa, I know you are hurt and hurt by the loss of the baby, but we must be clear in our actions. I didn't come to talk about Sofia, but you."

""About me? About what, Angel?"

"Well, what are your plans? I mean, being my wife comes with obligations, Elisa." I stated and she looked lost.

"I know and when you divorce Sofia, I will fulfill them, of course. Why is your divorce taking so long? According to my family lawyer, it shouldn't take this long."

God, give me patience.

"Why are you talking about my life to people? Since you mentioned that, I also heard that you gossip in the club and among others that we are no longer together. That I left Sofia for you, and my family supported you."

"Angel, I just mentioned it to Dad's lawyer, and he told me that a marriage that has not been consummated, once proven, must be resolved quickly if one of the spouses requests it. In this case, that gossip isn't really a gossip, don't you think?"

I analyze every word she says and her attitude. What emotion is in her eyes and how she talks.

"Who told you that our marriage is not consummated?" I asked her because except for Harry and Amelia, no one else knew.

"Because I know you and I know you won't betray our baby by sleeping with their killer." She confidently said and thag bothered me.

"But you didn't believe that when you left me. I mean, you thought I betrayed you with her, but now you're so sure I didn't betray you? I don't understand you, Elisa. How can you trust me now after so many years, but you couldn't trust me when we had a plan to get married?" "Angel, do you want me to doubt you? Are you telling me you slept with her?"

"I will not discuss my private life with Sofia, especially to you, Elisa, but I will tell you the same thing I told Angelica, I do not want to hear a comment of any kind about Sofia or me in the club or anywhere ever again. I took good care of my reputation and you three will not ruin it, are we clear? I will be the one to decide when to make the situation public."

"But I love you, Angel, and these past few days you have been ignoring me." She said sadly, but instead of pity, I felt annoyed.

"I'm a busy person, Elisa. I don't have time to waste. If I'm not traveling, I'm in meetings or working in the workshop."

Her lips pressed into thin line. "You don't have time for me, but you can go out to events and take pictures with that woman?!"

"I am a married man so that isn't strange. Sofia and I work together so you will obviously see us in meetings, parties, events, and photos together."

"Do you know how much you're hurting me? In London, you told me that you would make it up to me for all the pain you had cause me and that you would make her pay. That we would get back together when you divorced her."

"Yes, I said that, but the divorce isn't official yet and I told you that you should be patient because knowing Sofia, that it won't be easy."

She sniffed and stared at me with tearful eyes. "Okay, but how long do I have to wait?"

"Until I solve some things. Elisa, do you remember the night we spent together? You told me that Sofia and Kevin were in the room together and that was normal because they were dating."

"Yes, didn't you see them come in together as well? Why are you asking about it now?"

"How did you know they were dating when no one else knew?"

"Since I've seen them several times together. You know Kevin and Sofia's reputation. I just didn't pay attention because they weren't that familiar to me."

"Oh," For some reason, I don't believe her. "You know, I always ask myself how a young lady as kind, and sweet as you can give her virginity to a drunken man like me."

"Because I loved you, I love you and you were so handsome and kind. It's just a shame you don't remember that amazing night."

"How do you know I don't remember that night?" I asked and noticed how her body tensed up.

"Because said you didn't remember anything the next morning. That's how I know." She replied with an awkward laugh.

"t's been five years and five months, Elisa. The memories might have came back." She was surprised by that and looked nervous. "Are you okay? You seem nervous."

"No, nothing," she almost stuttered, her eyes jumping around. "I just thought that Sofia had been with you for so many years that you might have fallen for her. Like how you did back in the university. Maybe even greater than our unborn child."

My eyes darkened at that. "I love my child and it hurts me that you lost them. I don't remember that night, but I haven't forgotten the others."

A seductive smile appeared on her lips. "Do you remember how much you liked me and how amazing we were together?"

Yes, I remember how tempting you were and the times we had s*x, but that was it, the s*x was cold and empty. Now that I look at her, I only feel sorry for her because we lost our child. Guilt because I stole her virginity. And regret for not loving her the way she said she loved me. For I love the woman who allegedly killed our unborn child.

"You remained silent and thoughful, Angel. Since you are here, why don't we remember those moments? Let's go up to my room now or go to the hotel." She eagerly invited me while biting her lip and taking my hand.

I removed her hand and gave her a small smile. "No. It would be a risk for someone to see us. I don't want to give Sofia reasons to ruin everything I achieved," And because she would kill me for being unfaithful to her. "I don't want to sully your parents' house, or you get hurt for being called my mistress. You don't deserve that because you never lied to me or hurt me, right?"

Elisa seemed disappointed but smiled nonetheless. "Angel, you are always just and fair."

"That's what you like about me, right?" i asked and she nodded. My phone rang and it's Harry. "I have to go now. Work's calling. See you later, Elisa."

I left without waiting for her response and answered Harry's call once I'm back in my car.

"Hello?"

"Wow, a hello. That's new. Should I be happy?" He responded sarcastically.

"Yes, because this will be your first and last."

He chuckled on the other line. "Are you going to Autos-Let? We should talk about Alexis' statement."

"No, I'm going to Andrew & Leffman, I'll wait for you there. By the way, in the investigation we are doing, we need to verify if Elisa has contact with Alexis." "What? And what for?"

"I'll tell you later."

Once I reached the company, I resolved some work issues while Sofia was walking around the company with Amelia because the meeting was coming up.

A few hours after and Harry arrived. "I'm here, sir. How are you?"

I rolled my eyes at him and pointed at the papers. "Working if you don't see it. How is Alexis?"

"I already told you not to worry. He doesn't have anything to get out of jail and Amelia is hot on his a*s."

"Did the idiot continue talking about Sofia?"

"He insists, but he has no evidence. The dinner the night you hit him was a meeting that was already scheduled, Amelia herself confirmed it, so it's not valid because she showed evidence from the restaurant. The a*****e was even caught putting something in Sofia's drink, but she threw it away."

I snorted at his stupidity. "He thinks with his dick. There is no way out for him."

"Do you want to tell me why now you want to know if it related to Elisa?"

"I came from Elisa's house and she mentioned something about Alexis being a respected man, and Sofia flirting with him. Blah-blah. Although it was leaked to the press, nothing was mentioned about Sofia or me, so how? Isn't it strange?"

"That is strange, but I thought you're not seeing Elisa?" He asked with a raised brow.

"If I want information, who better than her to give it to me, even if I need to act a little? She was anxious when I told her that I remember the night I took away her virginity. Speaking of, what did you learn at the clinic?"

"This is information from five years ago so it is not easy for them to release it because of confidentiality issues, but we are not gonna stop."

"Elisa also stuttered when I asked her how she knew about Kevin and Sofia when no one knew and told me she saw them, but with their reputation, she didn't want to be close to them."

"Probably. The fool made a scandal where he allegedly slept with her and ended up in the hospital. Anyway, how are you and Sofia?"

"Good, I guess. But she distant earlier. We went to lunch and ran into my mother and my sister, and she put them in their place."

"Really? Knowing her, they must have been furious and defensive." Harry said while laughing.

"You can't imagine, but Sofia said something that made me think. That one should know which path to choose, because in the end, one might lose something important and walk with regret, I don't want to make that mistake." "What's even better is that you realize that Elisa is lying to you."

"Sofia asked me how I feel about her and Elisa." I blurted out with a sigh.

"What did you tell her? That you've been in love with her since college and that all you feel for Elisa is regret and guilt?"

"I didn't say anything because my mother came at that moment and I still couldn't make up my mind. But yes, for Elisa, I only feel guilty for stealing her virginity and regret that we lost the baby."

"I told you she's not a rodeo girl and she's not going to let these five years pass. Act as if nothing happened."

"I know, you know? And I found out she was a virgin."

If Harry is drinking, he would have spat it out. "What?! No shit, man. Did she tell you that?"

"No, Amelia invaded her apartment and she miunderstood what she saw. Well, the reality isn't far from it, but the point is that she told Sofia that she finally lost her virginity."

"Goddamn. So that's instant proof that Sofia is not with Kevin!"

"I already believed her when she told me. She's too smart to mess with that moron, but I never thought she would be a virgin. I thought she would have another boyfriend or something."

"You're lucky, man. You have the most wanted woman in the country, with power, intelligence, and she happens to be pure and a virgin," he commented and I'm glad to know that, although if she wasn't, I wouldn't have cared. "Wait, what did Amelia misunderstand?" I gave him a blank look. "I won't talk about that. I'm a gentleman."

"You're not really, but okay. I'm just glad to know that you still haven't lost touch after five years of abstinence."

"You are a fox, Harry, but I have nothing to say to you."

"Heh. But you leave Sofia with doubts about your feelings for her."

"I'm fixing that. Now, that reminds me I need to make some calls to reorganize the apartment."

"I still don't understand why you want to fix your apartment?"

"Because I want to. Now stop talking and let's go to work."
