I Want You Back by Meminger

Chapter 56

Chapter 0056

“Anne’s mother wants to know if you saw Anne today when you left daycare, son,” Natasha said to her son.

“Yes, I saw her, we played in the courtyard until her father came to pick her up,” the boy said calmly.

But I looked at the couple and shook my head, saying, “No one picked Anne up from daycare today…” The couple looked a little scared when they began to realize the gravity of the situation.

“Are you sure Anne’s dad picked up your little friend from daycare, buddy?” His father asked the boy, and the boy nodded.

“He said he was her father and said he was going to buy hot chocolate and a hamburger for Annie. I even wanted them too, but he said next time he’ll buy them for me,” said the innocent boy.

“Good God,” said Natasha, shuddering. There was a lump in my throat; apparently, my daughter had been kidnapped.

“Can you describe what Anne’s father was like, Cal?” She asked t boy’s father.

“Yes, I can. He was an adult white man and wore a suit similar to Uncle Abbie’s,” said the boy.

“Abbie is a friend of ours, he’s rich and wears expensive suits,” Jackson explained.

“So the man who took your daughter is probably rich,” Natasha added, and I wrinkled my face in confusion.

The only white man in a suit of cars who could have picked up my daughter from daycare was Richard, but I knew that Richard hadn’t picked up Anne since, after we fought in the

ar, he turned around and

drove away upset, and I had my cell phone turned off until now.

“I have no idea who it could have been,” I stammered to the couple without being able to find a green light. I knelt in front of the child and touched his shoulder. “Can you remember anything else, Caleb? What has this man said to Annie?” The boy seemed a little scared because he was probably feeling cornered. I was embarrassed to pressure the child to tell the same story so many times, but I had no other way

out.

“Come on, son. Try to help a little more with some details, so Anne can go back to his mother,” said the boy’s mother, patting his shoulder and helping me.

“Is Annie in danger, Mommy?” The boy asked.

“The man who picked Anne up from daycare today wasn’t Anne’s real father, son,” said his father, trying to explain to the child.

“Yes, it was. He even had the same color as Anne’s eyes,” the boy said decisively.

“What?” I asked astonished.

“He said he was Annie’s real father,” added the boy.

I was shocked. White man, wearing an expensive suit, and with blu eyes? I knew someone like that.

“Can you recognize someone with these characteristics, Laura?” Natasha asked, and I blinked in confusion, getting up from the floor.

“No, I don’t know… I need to ask some questions to be sure,” I said. It was unlikely that Jason Davies had kidnapped my daughter.

“Try to articulate this with the police. We live in a dangerous city where we are scared all the time. If you need our help, we will be here. If necessary, with some encouragement, Caleb can help with a sketch since he saw the kidnapper’s face,” said Natasha’s husband, making

him and his family available to help me.

“Thank you very much, really,” I said. At that moment, my cell phone was calling.

“No need to thank us,” said Natasha, and I stroked Caleb’s curly hair

and left the house to answer the call.

Once in the hallway of the building, realized that the number calling me was a strange number. Was it the kidnapper? I answered immediately, my heart racing. “Hello? Who’s speaking? Are you with my daughter?” Please don’t hurt her; I’ll give you anything you want, just don’t hurt her,” I asked in anguish.

“I don’t want anything from you, but Anne wants you to come and have dinner with us,” said the voice, and I knew that voice very well.
