I Want You Back by Meminger

Chapter 45

Chapter 0045

Laura

To my delight or chagrin, Jason didn’t show up at the launch of Nemesis‘ new

clothing line that day. This partly made me relieved because I wasn’t going to be all apprehensive about his presence in that place, but that didn’t mean that I didn’t miss

him.

We received many important people, celebrities and influencers, rich and famous people, and most of them were dazzled by the beautiful project we organized that day, starting from the brilliant marketing ploys that I had created, right down to the beautiful clothes developed by the designers from Nemesis.

In short, the launch was a huge success and at the end of the day, my team, I, and some directors went out to celebrate our success. They called me the heroine of Nemesis for saving their work, and I could only be grateful that everything went

well.

That week went by quickly and slowly at the same time, since as soon as that work.

was finished I had other work to do, like the accessories that were going to be.

launched before Christmas, so practically I would be quite busy with my work. When

the weekend arrived, I almost died when I felt my daughter’s little arms around me

when I finally returned to Staten Island

“I missed you so much, Mommy,” my little girl said to me, clinging to me as I carried

her and hugged her tight, too.

“I was missing you too, my sweetie. Mommy loves you so much,” I told her, giving

her little kisses, and we stayed talking until late.

Richard was also always there, being a perfect gentleman and looking out for me

and Annie.

When Annie finally fell asleep and it was just the two of us, Ava’s words echoed in

my ears, reminding me of the moment she said I needed physical contact, and I

knew that would be the perfect moment to get into a more intimate mood with

Richard, but I just smiled and told him I was very tired and needed to go to sleep. He

smiled and nodded, but there was a slight disappointment in his eyes, and I couldn’t

do much about that.

And when I went to sleep, there was Jason in both my thoughts and my dreams. He came down from a staircase, completely shirtless, showing all his masculinity to me, coming to me with a rose in his hand, and saying that he loved me so much and wanted me so much. He kissed me, sucked my neck again, and possessed me so possessively that it made me wake up burning, as if I had just woken up from an addictive, forbidden nightmare.

Please, Jason Davies, get out of my head!

But he never left.

And to my surprise, I paid the punishment of my own words. Jason didn’t appear on the Nemesis again, he hadn’t given any signal or anything, and there were no more direct orders from him or anything like his crazy stuff. Nemesis was happy about that, as having Jason away meant they could work in peace, but I wasn’t happy.

every day I missed him. But he had given up on me, maybe he had already found a new girlfriend to replace me.

Even though I made him promise never to come after me again, I was a little

disappointed that he was keeping his promise so well. Sometimes I didn’t

understand myself, I wanted so much to be away from him, and now that I had

achieved that, I was all sullen and missing him.

Ava was probably right when she said that when I agreed to kiss Jason, I had signed

a sentence, broken the barrier in my heart, and let him in again. And now Jason has

come back to live in my heart.

The three months of work at Nemesis had come to an end, and I had already packed

my things to return to Hextec, my company in Staten Island. It had been a very

intense season with very important work, but my team and I had given our all and

dedicated ourselves with passion, so Nemesis was saying goodbye to me with

sadness at seeing me go. They even offered me a permanent job with a salary more

attractive than the one I received at Hextec, but I gently declined, not wanting to let

go of Hextec. It was about starting from scratch with something and seeing it grow

gradually, which gave me immense pleasure and a sense of accomplishment. Not

everything is about money.

So on that specific day, I had gone to Nemesis to get a document that I had forgotten there. I saw from afar that the elevator was about to close, so I ran, shouting for the person inside the elevator to leave it open.

“Hold the elevator, please!”

I ran further, grateful that the person had held the elevator, but when I entered, I was surprised to see that it was Jason Davies. I had no other reaction for a long time

other than looking at him statically, he was also looking at me as the elevator closed

and went up smoothly.

“Oh, it’s going up,” I commented, seeing that it was just me and him in that elevator.

Almost two months had passed since I last saw him at his mansion, the day we

kissed, and even though it had been two months, I still felt my lips tingle when I

looked at him, remembering the kiss and the physical contact we had.

“Yeah, it’s going up,” he commented, looking slightly nervous as well. He was

dressed as usual: in his dark suit and blue tie, his hair was perfectly combed, and his

blue eyes were brighter. He was still fucking attractive and was starting to make me

agitated just being around him.

“It’s been a long time, right?” I commented, trying not to make the atmosphere more

tense than it already was.

“Yeah. I thought you were already back at Hextec,” he commented, looking at the

wall in front of the elevator.

So he was avoiding me, right? I mean, he showed up again at Nemesis right after I

left. He had been avoiding going to Nemesis these last few weeks to avoid running

into me, and I couldn’t even be mad about it because I was the one who had asked

him to stop insisting.

“Yeah, the project is over and I’m going back to Hextec, I just came back here to get a

memo from Quagmire for my report,” I explained, and he nodded.

“Oh yes. I heard that your work here was a success, you and your team are to be congratulated,” he said. Neither of us were looking at each other. The elevator space

was so small that it forced us to stay centimeters next to each other, so close that

could smell his cologne, which made me more attracted, and so close that I just had to move a little closer to hug him and die in his arms. God in heaven.

“Oh yes. Thank you, I appreciate it on behalf of the whole team,” I said with a smile

“We know that the merit is more yours than anyone else involved,” he commented

and I swallowed hard, wanting to tie my hair, everything was so hot now, and his

voice messed with my system so much.

“Ah, it’s not that big of a deal. Your employees are great professionals too,” I

stammered. At that point, I didn’t even know what we were talking about.
