I Want You Back by Meminger

Chapter 36

Chapter 0036

Laura

I was in disbelief at all the nonsense Jason was saying. A kiss? Did he want me to

kiss him to clear the project? Good heavens, Jason was unbelievable!

“Are you crazy? What nonsense are you asking me?” I asked, quite surprised by what

he just said. I hadn’t kissed him in about five years. How could he suggest that so

suddenly?

“A kiss is always a kiss,” he said insistently. “You kissed that guy. Why can’t you kiss

me too?”

I rolled my eyes, sighing. “I can’t believe all this nonsense you’re saying,” I said.

“You don’t think I’m more beautiful, is that it? I don’t make you attracted anymore?”

“My God, Jason. Of course you’re attractive,” I said, without having thought it

through beforehand. I was nervous about that proposal. Kiss him? God in heaven,

my heart was beating so fast.

“So if you still find me attractive, why don’t you want to kiss me?” He asked, still

looking at me deeply. I felt the back of his hand caress my cheek lightly. I closed my

eyes and gasped slightly from the contact. “You’re so beautiful, Laura, you’re so perfect.” suddenly he was so close to me, like the time in the elevator when he got dangerously close to me and messed with all my senses. “I can’t stop thinking about

you, you have my heart in your hands.”

“No!” I pushed his chest away and moved away, trying to compose myself. “You’re an idiot, Jason. I’m here as a professional, trying to solve a problem you’re causing, and

all you think about is harassing me?” I accused him, feeling a great desire to scream. Likewise, I still had my blood agitated, just having the idea in my mind of kissing him left me disoriented. Why did this man touch my senses so much

“What do you have to lose, Laura? It’s just a kiss, it’s no big deal. Since you kiss anyone, why don’t you kiss me too?” He was frustrated.

“I’m not this kind of woman, Jason. If you’re thinking I sell myself for so little, you’re

+15 BONUS

sorely mistaken!”

“You’re just snobbish, Laura. I’m giving you the chance to recover your project, and the price is very small if you’ll analyze it better because I’m not asking for such a big thing, and in return, you get the fucking money for your project and your

professional success.”

“It wasn’t kissing men that got me where I am, Jason. Do you think that’s how you can buy my affection for you? By harassing me and blackmailing me? Well, you’re so

wrong!”

“So, what do you want me to do anymore? I’ve tried everything, and I only get kicked by you. So fuck it, if it’s not going to be for good, it’s going to be for bad!”

At this point, we were already yelling at each other. “So you haven’t changed at all, Jason. I feel sorry for you!” I threw those harsh words at him and wanted to leave

but he held me back.

“What are you going to do? Are you going to deny my proposal, Laura?”

“Of course I will! I’m not one of your bitches who sell themselves for so little. I’ll be able to finish this project without your help, now let me go!” I let go of him and left that room quite irritated. Furthermore, I noticed that the management staff were in the corridor next to his office, hoping that I would give them a good answer.

“It was all in vain, let’s go to plan B,” I said to them, still walking quickly to my room.

I spent the rest of the day stressed out. I didn’t want to see or talk about Jason; I

wanted him to disappear forever because he was the cause of my stress. My

colleagues sent me recordings of past advertisements, and I almost cried when I saw

that the file was too long. Working on that would be boring, but I wasn’t going to kiss

my ex just to feed his damn ego..

So I picked up my cell phone and called Richard, who answered on the first ring. “Hi, honey. Do you want me to pick you up early today?” He asked excitedly. Since it was Friday, I was going to Staten Island to spend the weekend with my daughter and then going back to Manhattan to continue another week of work, which is why he was asking if he could come pick me up.

“Unfortunately, it won’t be possible today, Richard. I have some work due on

Monday, so unfortunately I won’t be able to go home this weekend,” I explained to him and sighed in stress.

“Oh, what a complicated thing. Is it about the advertising project?” He wanted to

know.

“Yes, but you don’t have to

already working.

worry about anything. I’ll find a way and solve it,” I said,

“Okay, but don’t try so hard. Go to your limit,” he advised, and I smiled.

“Thank you for worrying about me, Richard.”

“Of course I care, you’re my girlfriend,” he said, and I nodded, not even able to smile.

If he only knew the things I was going through….

I always felt like I was being unfair to Richard. I liked him, but I couldn’t say if I loved him. Not only that, but I liked being with him and his company, we stayed

talking and watched movies until late, and we even slept together, but I couldn’t get

intimately involved with him, maybe because Jason insisted on staying in my head,

even more so now that he was back in my life.

I thought about Jason every day of my life. I missed him terribly, and now it was like

I was falling more and more in love with him, which was a terrible thing to feel since

all I wanted was to stay away from him.

“That’s sweet of you, Ricky. Kiss Anne for me, okay? I’ll call her when I get home.

God, she’ll hate knowing we won’t see each other this weekend,” I said, directing the

subject to my daughter.

“Oh, we can visit next week, who knows?” He suggested. “Since Davies knows that

Anne is my daughter, there is no longer any danger of exposing her.”

“You’re right, bring her next week,” I said, smiling, already missing my daughter.

“Then it’s settled. Good job there, princess.”

I hung up the phone with a smile on my face as I thought about my daughter.
