From what happened in the following days, I could see that Jason was trying to stay
away from me, he stopped showing up at Nemesis and stopped trying to invest in me like he did before. I was told that he had returned to his main company, which was good news for me as I could now work without interruptions. He no longer
contacted me or showed up at Nemesis. The Nemesis employees were right to leave
aside everything related to my personal life with Jason Davies and everything they
had witnessed, especially the fight that had occurred over my case. They all decided
to put that question aside and focus on work.
Meanwhile, outside my work, I continued to keep in touch with my daughter and
Richard, who were in Staten Island, and every weekend I went there to be with them,
but I still couldn’t exchange more than simple affection with Richard, the kiss we
had given like that had been the only one in front of Jason, and I didn’t feel like
kissing him again, so I just spoke vaguely to him. I knew he noticed that I was
avoiding certain things with him, but he continued to be patient and wait for my
timing despite everything.
As soon as the filming and editing of advertisements and banners for billboards
were finished, it was the board’s turn to analyze my work and give their opinion. We

“Was the work completed in record time? Did we have any surprises when preparing the project? Was any unprofessional behavior noticed from the outsourced team?” He asked the directors, looking for a flaw to criticize, as every boss always did.

said one of the managers, the public relations guy.
“Then you can present your work, Mrs. Thompson,” Jason said, permitting me.
Since we had met again, Jason had never called me as formally as he was calling me
now, and he had never looked at me with such indifference as if I were a mere co-
worker who was inferior to him. So that was it; he had decided to forget me; he had
given up on me, so my plan had worked. I swallowed hard, feeling my heart pound
so hard that there was a lump in my throat that was threatening to make me cry.
I was feeling bad, I didn’t want to feel all that indifference from him. It was simply so
good to see Jason looking at me with a sparkle in his eyes, with emotion and love, in
those days when I found myself smiling alone when remembering it, but now he
was treating me so coldly, he had such an uninteresting look at me that
consequently made me remember when we were married and the way he treated me
with indifference back then.
“Now we are what we were before, Jason,” I thought to myself. I sighed slowly,
nodding and getting up to do my work.
“Thank you very much for your permission, Mr. Davies,” I said, going to the corner of
the room and taking the remote control to project the images in front of everyone.”
After four weeks of a lot of hard work and dedication from the entire team, we
managed to finish this job, which, in my humble opinion, was the best I’ve done so
