I Refuse to Divorce!

Chapter 60

That sight was undeniably tempting.

Mason approached calmly, taking the shower towel from her hand, his tone not very pleasant.

"Are you trying to end your life? The doctor said you need to stay in bed for at least two days.”

Zoe turned her back, murmuring, “I just want to freshen up.”

After giving it some thought, Mason understood why she wanted to take a shower.

Although they didn't complete the act in the hotel, he had taken about ten minutes, leaving deep and shallow marks. Despite her reluctance, her body still responded.

Mason recalled that it had been too long for both of them. They had tangled to the point of near chaos, reaching an intense climax. Thinking about those moments, he felt a stirring in his soul. He approached her from behind, wrapping his arm around her waist and resting his chin on her delicate shoulder.

His voice, now hoarse and sexy, murmured, "Your body still carries my scent, doesn't it?"

Zoe trembled.

Mason turned her around, lowering his head to look at her under the bright light. His deep, mysterious black eyes met hers.

In the past, Zoe would have found his gaze captivating. Now, she felt pathetic. Mason only desired her physically, without love, yet he refused to let her go. Zoe was exhausted after such a long struggle. Sometimes, she was too tired even to resist.

She let him carry her to the washstand, allowing him to adjust the light to the brightest setting and unabashedly admire her body, fully exposed before him.

Mason began to wipe her.

The bath towel glided over her body, and occasionally, his large hand would touch her sensitive areas. At those times, Zoe's body couldn't help but quiver.

After tossing the towel aside, Mason didn't help her put on the hospital gown. Instead, he fetched a pristine white bathrobe and draped it over her.

He lifted her back onto the bed, unable to resist whispering in her ear, "Did it feel good just now?"

Blushing, Zoe turned her face away. Despite her bloodless appearance, she looked even more beautiful and fragile.

She still refused to speak to him, remaining silent throughout.

She also made no attempt to leave.

Every night, he would help her clean up, and every time, she would tremble. Initially, Mason thought it was a physiological response, as she seemed to enjoy his touches. Later, he realized it was fear.

Fear of his proximity and touch.

Fear that he might get interested and engage with her again.

Once Mason noticed this, he became disinterested, his tone turning indifferent. "I'm taking care of you, not trying to sleep with you."

At night, when Zoe slept, Mason would quietly watch her by the bedside.

Zoe had become thinner.

Despite the nutritious soups and liquids she consumed in the past few days, her face had become noticeably sharper. She seemed far from happy. She refused to talk or engage with him.

It was as if she had decided to remain silent for the rest of her life. There was a knock at the door.

Mason hesitated for a moment, then got up to open it.

Ava stood outside, still dressed in a business suit despite the late hour. There was a faint weariness on her face. She lowered her voice and said, "Mr. Mason, there's an urgent matter at the company that requires your immediate attention. Could you please—"

“Let's go."

Mason closed the door, glancing at Zoe one more time. She was soundly asleep.

Ava also noticed Zoe.

Under the dim yellow light, Zoe slept peacefully, appearing completely untroubled and serene, as if she were untouched by the world.

Ava couldn't help but feel jealous.

Mason closed the door, casting a glance at Ava.

Ava didn't dare to cause any more trouble, quickly lowering her head and following in Mason's footsteps.
