I Refuse to Divorce!

Chapter 58

The hospital room was far from quiet. Two doctors were conversing with Mason.

"She experienced excessive blood loss."

"We've transfused 800 milliliters of blood, and her condition has stabilized. It depends on when Mrs. Zoe will wake up... Yes, Mrs. Zoe's will to survive doesn't seem very strong at the moment.”

"If she doesn't wake up by tomorrow morning, I suggest a full-body examination for her."

The doctors lingered for a moment before leaving. Mason escorted them out and closed the door. Turning back, he saw Zoe waking up. Her small face was nestled against the snowy-white pillow, her black hair scattered across it. Wearing loose hospital attire, she exuded a frail yet delicate beauty.

Mason silently watched for a few seconds before approaching. Sitting by the bed, his tone softened.

“You were unconscious for five hours. Are you hungry? I'll have some food sent over."

Zoe buried her face deeper into the pillow.

She didn't want to look or talk to him.

Mason understood what she was thinking.

He calmly said, "Mia is already out and is currently at Samphia Hospital. Zoe, you can remain silent, but I assume you wouldn't want your father and the others to know what happened tonight.”

Finally, Zoe said, "Mia is out?"

Mason gently touched her pale face, somewhat mockingly. "If she isn't, I may have become a widower by now."

Zoe turned her face away in despair.

Mason withdrew his hand after a quick touch. He ordered a meal for her and poured a glass of warm water, saying, "Sit up and have some water."

Zoe was too weak.

She couldn't sit up, so Mason looked at her for a while. Then, with one hand, he gently lifted her to lean against his shoulder.

Through the thin fabric of his shirt, Zoe could smell his pure masculine scent, mixed with a faint, ambiguous fragrance left over from their previous intimacy.

That scent made her feel extremely uncomfortable.

Recalling the scene where Mason dominated her on the sofa, though it wasn't the first time after marriage, this time felt particularly humiliating. "What are you thinking?"

Mason placed the cup aside and pinched her chin, forcing her to look at him.

Zoe's pale face showed a slight blush.

Suddenly, Mason guessed what she was thinking.

With long, slender fingers, he gently touched her velvety lips, his voice suddenly husky. "We've done it on the sofa before! You didn't resist that posture before..."

Not only did she not resist, but that position was what Zoe enjoyed the most. She often caught him off guard, almost causing him to confess inadvertently.

He spoke boldly about intimate matters between a husband and wife. Zoe didn't want to discuss this. She pressed her face against the pillow and softly said, "I want to rest."

At that moment, a knock sounded at the door of the hospital room. Mason stared at Zoe's face for a moment before going to open the door.

At the entrance stood Ava.

As Mason's secretary, attending to food delivery in the middle of the night seemed somewhat underutilizing her capabilities. However, considering that tonight's events could turn into a scandal if leaked, the entire floor of the hospital was sealed off.

No one knew that the president's wife was admitted to the hospital for self-harm.

Ava couldn't enter, so Mason took what he needed and closed the door. Ava stood outside, staring at the door, lost in thought. Although she hadn't witnessed the scene, a brief encounter earlier with Mason revealed a faint, ambiguous aura about him.

They had done it in the hotel.

She couldn't help but wonder how intense it had to be for Zoe to resist so fiercely.
