Chapter 492
Chapter 492 Birthday Party
Harper held Eleanor's hand and whispered soothingly, "It's okay, don't worry." She then continued, "I have something to attend to, so I'll leave first and come back tomorrow."
"All right, go ahead and deal with your matters. There's no need to visit every day. I'm doing just fine. You are pregnant now, so you have to be careful. Do you understand?" Harper nodded and left.
But not long after she left, Benjamin arrived.
They had missed each other.
Eleanor couldn't help but tease, "Did you wait for Harper to leave before coming here?"
"She left?"
Benjamin had been meeting a client nearby and knew that Harper was at the hospital, so he had come especially to visit.
Hearing that Harper had just left, he called her on the phone.
The call went through, but no one answered.
He narrowed his eyes, feeling a sense of confusion.
Eleanor said, "She might be driving. Do you want to head to her company to look for her?"
Benjamin smiled gently, "No need, I'll just chat with you for a bit."
"Really?" Eleanor replied with a smile.
He nodded in agreement. "Really. How have you been feeling?"
Benjamin chatted with Eleanor for nearly an hour, showing no sign of impatience and managing to discuss any topic with her, making Eleanor very happy.
But deep down, he was still puzzled over where Harper had gone, and she hadn't replied to his phone calls.
He thought, "It doesn't take more than an hour to go from the hospital to her company. Once she gets to the company, doesn't she check her phone?
Or did she not go to the company at all but somewhere else instead?"
Benjamin narrowed his deep-set eyes, pondering silently, his emotions unreadable.
Harper met up with Annie outside Moore's Restaurant, and Annie said, "He hasn't come out, and neither has anyone else. It's not yet mealtime, so there haven't been any customers coming in. I don't know what he's doing inside."
Harper nodded and said to Annie, "I'll go in and take a look."
"Do you want me to come with you?"
"No," Harper declined, not thinking that Frank would do her any harm.
Even if he was responsible for all the bad things, she still wanted to believe in him.
He'd had many opportunities to deal with her, but he hadn't taken any of them, which meant he wasn't going to harm her.
Harper took a deep breath and walked towards the restaurant.
Soft music played inside, and there wasn't even a receptionist at the door, giving it a deserted feel.
She walked in slowly and saw flowers and balloons, decorating it like it was a holiday celebration. Or maybe the restaurant itself had this theme. Before Harper could react, the light music switched to a Happy Birthday song.
Harper stood still, not moving forward but staring at the man standing in the middle of the stage.
He played the guitar, looking at her in return.
When the song ended, he picked up the microphone and said gently, "Harper, happy birthday." Harper's birthday wasn't until later.
He added, "Even though your birthday is still a couple of weeks away, I'm celebrating it early for you. I hope you're always happy and fulfilled, and that all your wishes come true."
He came down from the stage, slowly walking towards her until he stood in front of her. That was when Harper could truly feel that the person in front of her was Frank. She didn't say anything.
Frank chuckled softly, "Why are you not talking? Harper, are you really ignoring me? After this, I'm not sure when I'll be able to celebrate your birthday with you again. So, don't
you want to say something to me?"
Harper was surprised, her expression stiff.
Her voice hoarse, she asked, "Frank, what do you mean?"
