Chapter 15
Chapter 15
After spending four hours in the kitchen, Nydia finally felt satisfied as she looked at delicate dishes on the table. She wiped the sweat from her forehead and hissed in pain as her hand accidentally brushed against the wounds.
This was her first time to cook. Born into a wealthy family and being the apple of her parent’s eye, she never had the chance to learn how to cook. After marrying into the Jacksons, she didn’t have to cook, either.
So, it took her every effort to cook today. And she ended up with a few cuts on her fingers. But she did feel good about herself.
Nydia blew gently on the wounds, tore off the wet band–aid, and re–pasted a dry one. It was already half past seven. Cade would be back any minute.
It was still snowing outside, and the cold wind was howling.
She sat in the dining room and casually browsed Twitter. She didn’t see the news on Twitter. Perhaps Lance managed to bury the news on Reddit.
It was warm inside, and Nydia fell asleep on the table while waiting.
The snow crushed the branches outside the window, making a big noise that woke her up at once. She jerked to her feet and looked toward the door. The night was dark and gloomy, and the villa was trapped in silence. It was ten at night, and Cade was not home yet. Nydia’s eyes dimmed. She slowly sat back down and stared at the cold food for a while.
Cade chose Josephine. The Sharp Group chose her. They all had a choice except for her.
Nydia held her head and rubbed her stiff scalp, trying to tell herself to calm down. It seemed to work. After a while, she stopped to call Alison.
Then, she took all the apples from the refrigerator and laid them on the table. And she started peeling them. It was also
her first time to peel an apple, Inevitably, she got more cuts on her fingers, blood oozing from the wounds. But Nydia was numb to the pain. She picked out the big and red ones and

peeled them one after another. She wanted it to be perfectly smooth.

It wasn’t until a small mountain of apple peels piled up on the dining room table that she smiled with satisfaction at her work. She didn’t take a bite, though. She threw them in the trash with the food on the table.
Nydia slept until after nine in the morning. A good night’s sleep guaranteed her skin was in perfect condition.
She put on delicate makeup and long brown hair curled into big waves. She picked a burgundy dress. and a classic Chanel coat from the walk–in closet. This was her typical socialite style. And she purposely wore red lipstick. Red was aggressive.
After that, Nydia put on sunglasses and slipped into high heels before entering Alison’s car.
Alison was astounded by her perfection and asked, “Ms. Sharp, do you know what you remind me of?”
“What?” asked Nydia smilingly.
“The sun. You are glowing and dazzling, making people want to approach and bathe in your light even if it means to burn,” said Alison.
