Chapter 11: Flirting With Me?
Gabrielle had never felt too uneasy in her life. How could she not? She was having breakfast with one of the most powerful men in the city!
The worse part was how the man's physical attributes were completely distracting! She was certain that looking at Kyle was more appetizing than her pan-fried pork chop!
After agreeing to join Kyle for dinner, she started with her breakfast, first munching on apple slices before eating her scrambled eggs.
Most often, she would look down, averting his gaze but would secretly steal glances at his incredibly sexy jaws! Yep! And it wasn't just the jaws. The man's Adam's Apple was calling out to her, the shape of his arms, up to his solid chest; all of them were just tempting her to stare!
'Damn!' She thought silently. 'God sure took time to make him!'
While she resumed her meal and occasionally ogled at Kyle, she heard him ask, "I heard you had trouble with someone yesterday? Hank told me."
Her face immediately paled. She wondered what else had Hank told him!
Gabrielle coughed and drank a glass of water. After clearing her throat, she looked him in the eye and answered, "Umm... Yes... It was Warren, my ex."
She bit her lip before asking, "What - what else did Hank tell you?"
When Kyle smirked, she wound up giving everything away. She explained, "I'm sorry. I did not mean to claim you as a boyfriend. I just wanted him off my back, so I told him, I was moving in with a new boyfriend."
"Ah," Kyle answered. He finished up the last piece of his meat, wiped his mouth with a table napkin, and asked, "So, what is the deal with you and Warren?" His brows knitted before resuming, "Are you... trying to mend things? Or is it completely over between the two of you?"
"No!" She answered with conviction in her tone. "No way! Absolutely over!"
Gabrielle began to explain how her ex-boyfriend cheated on her with her best friend and finding out about it just over a week ago. She told, "I stormed in on their engagement party and showed them! Ha! They had their gathering at this hotel, by the way, and that - "
She stopped herself, not wanting to give more details, considering that was the eventful night where she had kissed Kyle out of nowhere. Of course, she still hoped that he did not remember her.
"I - I made sure everyone who was there knew their true colors," she softly added before returning to her plate.
"I see," Kyle calmly answered. "He seems not an honorable man."
"Definitely not!" She returned, raising her voice while she was at it. "Aside from that, he got me fired from my previous workplace!"
With a sigh, Gabrielle shook her head and added, "But really, what I hate about the situation the most was how my best friend, Camilla betrayed me... I mean, who does that?”
Kyle nodded and answered, "You know, some of the worst betrayals often come from the people close to us." He pushed away his plate and moved closer to Gabrielle's exquisite face. He told, "So you should choose wisely... who you should trust."
His lips curved on in one end before he suggested, "You sure have bad tastes in men."
At first, Gabrielle was just stunned, looking back at his dark brown eyes. She did not care that the man was scorning her for her choice of having been with Warren. She was just, for a second, lost in his intense gaze.
A moment of just her, locking eyes with him, her mouth parted, and she struggled to reply, "Umm... Haha! I - I guess so. I wish I had known better."
"It's very simple," Kyle answered. He got off from his seat and walked around the center countertop. He easily found himself next to Gabrielle and continued to melt her with his stares!
After resting his arm on the surface of the counter, he said to Gabrielle, "You need to choose a man who can only see you."
He moved closer, practically leaving only five inches in between their faces. He added, "A man who only sees you."
With Kyle so close to her, Gabrielle recognized the strong beating of her heart!
There was an incredibly good-looking man, standing in front of her, essentially promoting his godly face. And she swore, she could feel his warm breath against her cheeks!
She gulped and blinked her eyes repeatedly before she finally replied, "I - I don't know how that is, but... That's a good thought to consider. I'll." Her mind froze for a second before she resumed, "I'll remember that."
She forced a smile and said, "Thanks for the advice, Mr. Wright." Yet again, she saw a frown reflected on his face that she took back her words. "I mean, Kyle... Kyle. Thank you."
"You are welcome." Kyle leaned back and said, "Soon, it will make sense to you. Just... remember what I said."
Looking away, Kyle stated, "I have a groundbreaking ceremony to attend to and the hotel will bring me my suit." He looked up to her again and requested, "Kindly bring it up to my room." "Okay, Kyle. I will," Gabrielle answered.
"Shall I leave you to finish your breakfast? I need to take a shower now," he asked.
"Of course! Thank you for... letting me join you for breakfast," Gabrielle answered with a smile.
"I don't like eating alone. I expect that you join me in each meal whenever I am around," he returned, assuring her it was fine for her to dine with him.
That surprised Gabrielle, but who was she to reject such a request? She beamed and answered, "Certainly! I understand."
After Kyle left Gabrielle alone, she first pondered on her beautiful morning and seemingly good luck! She was living in a luxurious home with a freaking good-looking boss and one who seemed to treat her well! She did not even get fired for sleeping on the job!
Recalling Kyle's actions earlier, she softly repeated his words, "Someone who can only see me... Wait. Was he... flirting with me?"
Gabrielle's brow rose as she placed a hand on her chest, just thinking of the possibility. However, after knocking some sense into her, she laughed and said, "Dream on, Gaby! Yeah! Dream on!"
