Chapter 1145: Grand Finale
Chapter 1145: Grand Finale
Yanis felt like these two were about to start a fight if they continued chatting.
Quickly, she intervened, "Alright, let's all head back, shall we?"
Ivan raised an eyebrow, "I'll take your car for now and return it later."
Yanis nodded, "Sure, go ahead. I don't use it much."
Ivan took a couple of steps, then abruptly turned back to Yanis, "Yanis."
"Hmm?"
"You... never mind. Let's talk about it another day. You and him can head back first," Ivan began saying, but he didn't finish his sentence. He turned and left before he could say more.
Watching Ivan walk away, Yanis turned to Zane, "What's going on with you guys? Haven't you met before without bickering?"
"Just felt irritated by him all of a sudden," Zane replied, taking Yanis's hand and leading her towards the parked cars. "How was the checkup today?"
Yanis made a thoughtful sound, "Dr. Watson said everything's fine."
Zane nodded and was about to say something when his gaze fell on Yanis, "Did you wear this outfit when you left in the morning?"
Yanis didn't meet his gaze, "Yeah."
"I remember..."
"Zane, let's head home," Yanis cut him off before he could finish his sentence.
"Did something happen today?" Zane walked ahead, "Nothing's wrong. What could have happened? Let's get home quickly."
The estimated due date was supposed to be early in the year, but the twins seemed eager and didn't wait for the new year to arrive. Compared to Yanis's calm demeanor, Zane was restless from the moment Yanis started feeling abdominal pain. He was anxious every day. Bonnie said Zane was close to having prepartum depression.
When Dr. Watson mentioned that Yanis might give birth in the next few days, Zane barely slept at night.
Yanis, who was initially unfazed, was eventually affected by Zane's anxiety.
Added to this was the fear of the intense pain of childbirth she had heard about from others.
Zane was acting a bit absurd.
But in the end, Yanis experienced only a day of pain, and then suddenly all sensations ceased.
The checkups showed everything was normal.
It was as if the twins were playing tricks on Zane. Just when he had managed to adjust his mindset, they decided to make their entrance.
Yanis was rushed to the hospital overnight and by the time she arrived, things were almost ready.
Dr. Watson organized an emergency delivery.
Yanis had thought the twin's birth would take longer, but she was in and out of the delivery room in just two to three hours.
It was indeed painful during labor, but compared to women in labor for over ten hours, she considered herself fortunate.
Zane's intuition was accurate.
Both were baby boys.
When the doctor brought the babies out, Zane didn't even glance at them; he went straight to Yanis.
By the time Yanis was settled, she asked about the babies. Zane, who had forgotten all about them, finally realized, "Anika, where are the babies?"
Anika stood to the side, looking at Zane with exasperation, "You don't know where the babies are?"
Zane truly didn't know. He hadn't even seen what the babies looked like.
"You didn't see them?" Yanis asked Zane.
Zane responded truthfully, "I was too busy looking at you. Who has time to worry about them?"
Yanis found it both funny and exasperating, "Those are your sons."
"But you're more important," Zane insisted with complete confidence, brushing aside any concern for the babies.
After all, there were people around who could take care of that.
Ivan was the first in line, followed by Antonio.
Both of them held on to their respective baby tightly, not letting go.
Even when the Old Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence came over, they guarded the babies like they were precious jewels.
The Old Mrs. Lawrence was even ready to roll up her sleeves and fight to hold them.
They had eagerly anticipated the arrival of their great-grandchildren, only to have them monopolized by these two outsiders. Who would they reason with?
During the day, Bonnie, Stella, and Wendy came over.
When they saw the babies, all three of them wanted to hold them.
But Ivan and Antonio were reluctant to let go.
"Why are you monopolizing them, Ivan?" Bonnie negotiated with Ivan for a while, but he was adamant about not giving the babies up.
Ivan glanced at her, "Aren't you busy with Mles? Isn't he enough for you?"
Bonnie sighed, "That little brat, I haven't seen him at all lately."
After Mles turned one, he clung to Lane and even cried to stay with him.
Bonnie was truly helpless; she had to let Lane take him away.
It turned out she hadn't seen her own son in three days.
"Snatched by Lawyer Phillips?" Ivan asked Bonnie.
Bonnie replied with a resigned tone, "He's been snatched for three days. I'm not planning to take him back."
Ivan looked at her warily, "So now you're planning to snatch someone else's son?"
Bonnie reached out her hand, only to find it empty, "No, is what you're doing a bit excessive?"
Ivan declared, "Since his biological
father
Xiaoesn't care for him, I'll t about adopting him at
my uncle title and raise him
"You're dreaming," Zane's voice interrupted Ivan's words.
Ivan looked surprised, "Oh, you remember you have a son?"
Zane ignored Ivan's comment, instead lowering his gaze to the baby in Ivan's arms, and immediately frowned, "Why is he so ugly?"
Then he looked at the baby in Antonio's arms, "This one's ugly too?"
Ivan: "..."
Antonio: "..."
Bonnie: "..."
"You have no sense of aesthetics," Ivan looked at Zane and said, "You call these handsome boys ugly?"
Zane wanted to hold one of them,
е
but after thinking it over, he refrained, ultimately retracting his outstretched hand, "Take good care of them. No need to spend money on a nanny."
Ivan nearly threw the baby in his arms at Zane's face.
But his final bit of restraint told him that these babies weren't just Zane's; they were Yanis's too.
So, he held back.
Yanis had a smooth delivery, and by the fourth day, she was discharged from the hospital and went home.
Once back at D-king Castle, the number of visitors wanting to see Yanis and the babies increased.
Worried about disturbing Yanis's rest, Zane kept most people in the living room. Only two people were allowed upstairs for a couple of hours.
This meant there were still people waiting in line by nightfall.
Upon learning this, Yanis felt helpless and had to come downstairs herself.
While Zane couldn't best Yanis in an argument, he did indulge her by ensuring his gaze never left her.
After everyone left, Zane was the first to escort Yanis upstairs.
"Zane, you haven't named them yet."
Yanis had asked Zane about this when she was leaving the hospital.
Zane had bluntly said they looked a bit ugly and that it was affecting his creativity, so he hadn't named them yet.
Yanis suppressed a laugh, "They'll be angry when they grow up if they know their dad found them ugly."
Zane shrugged dismissively, "Let them be."
After tucking Yanis in, Zane took care of naming the twins throughout the night.
Kevin Lawrence, and Nora Lawrence.
In this lifetime, Zane considered himself lucky to have met Yanis, the luckiest in three lifetimes.
