Chapter 1143: Happy Newlyweds
Chapter 1143: Happy Newlyweds
Thankfully, Anthony didn't do anything inappropriate due to the alcohol. He was blocking Sandy to have a brief conversation with her. However, his actions made it seem like he was causing trouble. Even Hiruma was worried that Anthony might grab Sandy and run off, so he anxiously called out, "Anthony?"
After hearing Hiruma's words, Anthony chuckled softly. "Why so nervous? I just want to talk to her for a moment."
Hiruma cleared his throat. "That's good then, that's good."
Anthony looked at Hiruma and raised an eyebrow. "What are you thinking?"
Hiruma shook his head. "Well, you go ahead and speak. Miss Thompson is tired and wants to rest. It's been a long day."
Anthony made a thoughtful sound and then turned to face Sandy. "Can I have a word with you?"
Sandy didn't show any nervousness or resistance to Anthony's actions. When he spoke, she nodded. "You're not too drunk, are you?"
"Not at all. I'm sober. I know you got married today. The groom is Brandon." Anthony's appearance didn't actually reflect that he was drunk.
Sandy looked at Berton. "Take Brandon to the car first. I'll be there in a moment."
Berton cast a glance at Anthony's face before hesitating and then took Brandon to the car.
Zane walked over to Anthony and stood by his side. "What can't you say in front of us?"
Anthony chuckled, sounding hoarse. "It's not that. What are you all thinking? Even if I were to steal someone, would I be drunk enough to do it now? Even if I did, could I drive in this condition?" Zane raised an eyebrow. "You sure?"
Anthony sighed. "Fine, we'll talk here. Can you all just step away a bit?"
Zane withdrew his hand from Anthony's shoulder. "Go ahead, take your time."
The others cooperated and moved a couple of steps away.
After everyone had moved aside, Sandy looked at Anthony and initiated the conversation. "What do you want to say?"
Anthony looked at Sandy and smiled. "You look really beautiful today."
Sandy chuckled. "Was I not beautiful at other times?"
Anthony nodded seriously. "You were, always beautiful."
After saying that, Anthony paused for a moment and then looked at Sandy very earnestly. "Happy newlyweds, Sandy." "Thank you."
Anthony smiled and then softly asked, "So, uh... Can I have a hug?"
Upon hearing Anthony's words, Sandy went ahead and embraced him. "Anthony, find a girlfriend soon."
Anthony froze for a couple of seconds before he awkwardly returned the hug. "Sure."
As the hug ended, Anthony released Sandy. "Go back now."
Sandy nodded. "Get some rest as well."
Anthony waved at Sandy. "Go on, happy newlyweds!"
Sandy smiled and turned to leave.
No one knew that the phrase "happy newlyweds" could also be a source of profound emotional pain. For Anthony, these words were like sharp knives, each one plunging into his heart, causing him to feel every inch of it. Only after they pierced straight through did he fully awaken.
In this lifetime, there was no possibility for him and Sandy.
He didn't harbor any malicious thoughts, like "I'll just get married and then divorce." Nor did he compare himself to Brandon, who was older, thinking that anything could happen in the future. All he wished was for Sandy to be happy in this life.
...
After Sandy and Brandon's wedding, Yanis and her group didn't stay long in Viteto. They returned to Manches City the next day.
As the end of the year approached,
both Zane and Bonnie, as well as
Yanis's shop, were bustling with activity. The grand opening of the new shop was scheduled for New Year's Day. With two months remaining, they juggled between preparing for the new store and fulfilling orders.
Considering Yanis's pregnancy, she had to hire two assistants and bring Phoebe on board to barely manage the workload. Bonnie's side was equally busy. Year-end company parties and various events demanded an ample supply of formal wear.
So, they were all occupied for the entire two months.
And now, New Year's Day was on the horizon.
On New Year's Day, Yanis had a prenatal checkup scheduled. Zane was supposed to accompany her, but due to icy road conditions, Dylan had an accident and was hospitalized. Because of the distance, they ended up at the second hospital. Rachel was also in the car during the accident, and both of them were injured.
With Zane gone, Yanis was concerned that she couldn't manage alone, so she sent Zane to the second hospital and went to the first hospital for her checkup.
Ironically, one thing led to another. While preparing for a fetal heart rate check, Yanis was accidentally bumped by a child. Her foot slipped on some spilled milk, causing her to fall.
At the moment of impact, Yanis's face turned pale. When the nurses and people around her helped her up, she felt her lower abdomen. subtly sinking. The panic
ensued made even bra that net
difficult.
"My stomach feels a bit uncomfortable..." Yanis tried to calm herself down and turned to the nurse supporting her. "Could you please contact Dr. Watson for me?"
The nurse complied and called over a colleague to inform Dr. Watson, who was in the middle of a consultation.
Since Dr. Watson was available that day, she soon emerged from her office
. After learning about the situation, she promptly arranged for Yanis to undergo an urgent examination. After all, Yanis was well into her pregnancy, and the fall might have had some impact. Perhaps due to the advanced stage of the pregnancy, the twins were resilient and the situation wasn't critical.
"For the time being, try to rest as much as possible. After all, you're carrying twins, so be a little more cautious," Dr. Watson advised.
"Are you sure everything is okay?" Yanis couldn't help but ask Dr. Watson once again, her worry evident.
Dr. Watson nodded. "Don't worry, there aren't any major issues. Just be a little more cautious, especially given the stage you're at."
Dr. Watson's assurance eased Yanis's concerns a bit. However, she still decided not to inform Zane about the incident to spare him from worrying.
After leaving the hospital and getting into her car, Yanis called Zane.
Zane quickly answered the phone. "Yanis, are you done over there? Should I come pick you up?"
"All done. Everything's normal. I'm getting ready to head home now." Yanis started the car and continued, "By the way, how's Uncle Dylan and Aunt Rachel? Are they okay?"
"No serious injuries. Uncle Dylan hurt his arm a bit, but other than that, they're fine."
"That's good to hear. Should I come to Uncle Dylan's place and wait for you, or should I wait until later for you to take me there?" Yanis spoke while maneuvering the car.
