Chapter 456
Chapter 456 Holy Dragon
At that moment, Skylar's speed and strength were beyond belief.
Therefore, when he fended off Torrence's attack, it was hardly surprising that the sheer force sent the latter flying.
Having sustained the same internal injuries as Jonathan, Torrence stepped back to catch his breath, only to cough out a
mouthful of blood.
If Skylar were to attack Jonathan now, the latter wouldn't have anyone to save him, and all he could do was watch his death
unfold.
However, was that really the end of it?
Just then, something shocking happened inside Dragon Palace.
Cracking sounds began ringing out from the layer that had sealed off the frozen Demon Dragon, and before long, the thousand-
year-old ice wall was covered with long, gnarly cracks.
Needless to say, Jonathan was overcome with joy. D*mn! I can't believe my luck! Demon Dragon, the King of Dragon, is finally
breaking out of its seal!
Torrence, too, was on cloud nine.
After all, who in their right mind would want to die if they had a chance of survival?
Skylar, on the other hand, couldn't stop staring in disbelief. “No. That's impossible... A magnetic field from another dimension had
frozen this seal. There's no way magic elements can break it! How is the Demon Dragon doing this?”
Despite seeing Skylar in a daze, Jonathan held his tongue and remained still.
Ha. Thankfully, I'm not one with a loose tongue. I'm still in Skylar's crosshairs, for goodness' sake. What if I said something
wrong and antagonized him? He'd kill me without hesitation! Besides, even though Demon Dragon has broken the seal, who
knows if it'll save me? It's not like we're friends or are obligated to help each other...
Alas, as much as Jonathan tried to behave himself, Skylar suddenly shot him a death stare, looking like he was ready to kill.
Jonathan couldn't help but let out a bitter chuckle. “Oh, come on! Must you hate me this much? I wasn't the one who freed
Demon Dragon, was I?”
“Go to hell!” Skylar thundered as he prepared to unleash his attack.
The next second, however, a dazzling ball of light appeared before Jonathan.
Seconds later, he realized the light seemed to be that of a primordial spirit that had taken the form of a noblewoman.
Dressed in a golden silk robe, the woman looked like a majestic queen and carried herself with an aura that commanded fear
and respect.
“You b*tch. I can't believe you managed to break the seal,” Skylar scoffed.
Jonathan might not have seen the noblewoman's face, but the fact remained that he and Torrence were stunned. Oh, my
goodness! That noblewoman is Demon Dragon's primordial spirit! But... Who knew the mighty King of Dragon, the Holy Dragon
revered by all, was a woman? This is utterly unbelievable!
The noblewoman stared at Skylar, seemingly perplexed by what was happening around her. After a while, she finally spoke up.
“Are you the puppet primordial spirit created by Lynn?”
Despite the initial confusion, Torrence and Jonathan quickly realized who the noblewoman was referring to.
D*mn... Lynn, huh? That must be the name of Theos. Well, at least it's a pretty nice name...
To everyone's surprise, the noblewoman suddenly burst out laughing. “Oh, Lynn... So much for calling yourself Theos and putting
on that holier-than-thou attitude. Why would you resort to something as vile as creating a puppet primordial spirit? Aren't you
afraid of being ridiculed if word gets out?”
Skylar scrutinized the noblewoman before replying, “You seem to have lost most of your cultivation. I can't believe you still have
the guts to appear before me when you're this weak and pathetic. You must be tired of living!”
“I admit my powers have weakened a little, but it'd still be enough to deal with a mere puppet primordial spirit like yourself,” the
noblewoman said, her lips curled into a half smile.
Not wanting to waste his breath on the woman, Skylar stepped forward and threw a punch at her head.
The woman, too, wasted no time retaliating with a powerful strike.
With a wave of her palm, ice crystals suddenly formed in the air and froze Skylar's fist.
Worst of all, the ice began spreading across the latter's body like a plague, causing him to be sealed in an icy tomb within
seconds.
As Jonathan and Torrence watched in wide-eyed wonder, Skylar had turned into an ice sculpture before their very eyes.
What an impressive ice sculpture! He's completely immobile!
“D*mn!” Jonathan exclaimed. “Holy Dragon, please quickly chop this man's head off and destroy it! You'd have to do the same to
his body, too. Otherwise, he won't die!”
Jonathan and Torrence were understandably excited, but just then, the noblewoman's silhouette began to flicker and fade.
Naturally, the sight scared both men out of their wits.
After a while, the woman's silhouette finally stabilized, and it was clear by then how difficult it had been for her to seal Skylar off.
The entire process required a vast amount of energy and concentration, which explained why her primordial spirit had almost
dissipated.
Then, the woman slowly turned toward Jonathan and Torrence, her face pale as she gave a wry smile. “My power is almost
gone. Sealing off that puppet primordial spirit had drained the last of my energy.”
Jonathan and Torrence gasped. They had always thought Holy Dragon was on par with Theos, and neither had expected the
former to have weakened to such a state.
“This puppet primordial spirit has a unique physique, so I'm afraid I can't kill him. Moreover, I can only seal him off for a day. After
that, he will undergo another round of evolution, and when that happens, even I would be powerless against him,” the
noblewoman added.
Having realized that the danger was far from over, the two men exchanged fearful glances.
Jonathan took a deep breath to calm himself down, only to feel a searing pain in his lungs. His internal injuries were no joke, and
Torrence's condition was just as bad.
As a result, he had no way of killing Skylar and could only let the latter remain in the frozen state.
“Since the puppet primordial spirit has been sealed off, can't you find a way to get rid of him?” Jonathan piped up. “Couldn't you
find a sword and hack him into pieces?”
Alas, the noblewoman shook her head. “This sealing technique creates ice that's hard as steel. It's impossible to pierce through it
with swords.”
“In that case, why not use your primordial spirit to fly him into the sky and drop him? He'd be smashed to smithereens.”
“No. I can't pull that off,” the noblewoman replied with a wave of her hands. “I can't even fly now, so how am I supposed to bring
him along?”
Undeterred, Jonathan continued, “What about burying him alive?”
“He was never breathing in the first place,” the woman muttered, not quite believing what she had just heard.
With that, Jonathan was rendered speechless.
D*mn it! So what if Skylar's frozen solid? The rest of us can't do anything to get rid of him! My injuries need time to heal, and he'd
probably break out of the ice before then. Aren't we just prolonging our death?
“Fret not, Chosen One,” the noblewoman suddenly said. “Fate will find a way!”
Jonathan and Torrence's eyes immediately lit up, but the latter couldn't hide his puzzlement. “Wait a minute. What's this about
the Chosen One?”
“That would be me. I'm the Chosen One, the one favored by the heavens. In other words, I have better luck than the average
man. For example, didn't we chance upon Holy Dragon breaking out of her seal?” Jonathan replied before looking at the
noblewoman. “Holy Dragon, since you've already shown yourself, that must mean you have a way to save us!”
The noblewoman nodded. “I do, indeed. However, the success of it would still largely depend on you, Chosen One.”
Upon hearing that, Jonathan laughed bitterly. “My internal injuries are pretty serious, so I don't know if I'd be of any help. In any
case, please advise us, Holy Dragon!”
“Even though I can help you guys, there are some things I should clarify first.”
“Please go ahead!”
“Look over there,” the noblewoman said as she pointed at the giant Demon Dragon.
Jonathan and Torrence quickly did as they were told, only to see the dragon's body trembling slightly. It was still alive, but its
vitals were weak.
Huh? What's this about? What is she trying to tell us?
“That's my physical body. I'm the Demon Dragon you speak of, also known as the Holy Dragon!” the noblewoman explained.
“I knew it. I knew she was Holy Dragon,” Jonathan muttered.
“My real name is Clarissa Keller. My dragon race was frozen when a Divine Master from a different dimension executed this
sealing technique. He used a unique magnetic field to freeze us in place, and we couldn't undo it with our magic elements,” the
noblewoman said. “I sensed the external forces earlier and knew the Chosen One had arrived. I remember the Divine Master
saying that the only chance for the dragons to break the curse is when the Chosen One descends upon us. My long wait has
paid off. You're finally here.”
Jonathan reeled in shock. “Ms. Clarissa, are you saying the Divine Master had already predicted I'd be here?”
This is all so unbelievable! Is this what people mean by our fates are already sealed, and there's no escaping them?
“It may sound far-fetched, but it's really not. That Divine Master is a formidable man who can use Heavenly Law to peep into the
future and one's Thread of Fate. However, what he sees is only a blurred image of what's to come,” Clarissa said before pausing
to collect her thoughts. “I was pregnant a hundred years ago, which greatly affected my cultivation. If it weren't for that, I wouldn't
have gotten subdued by Lynn. Now, it's almost time for the birth of my daughter, and since you've arrived, I decided to use the
last of my strength and the blood energy produced during labor to break this seal. Even though I've broken the curse, I've only
done so for myself. The other dragons are still frozen. Unfortunately, I've drained my energy, so I doubt I can live much longer.
As such, I hope you can promise me two things, Chosen One.”
“Go on, Ms. Clarissa,” Jonathan replied without hesitation. “As long as it's within my power, I'll do my best!”
“First, I want you to protect my daughter so she can go on to live a happy life. Second, I want you to try breaking the curse for
the rest of my dragon race,” Clarissa uttered.
Jonathan instantly felt a pain in his head. “Ms. Clarissa, as much as I want to help you, I'm afraid I have neither the strength nor
the power to do so!”
