Chapter 454
Chapter 454 Secret Recipe
Jonathan and Torrence were extremely sharp-witted people. Naturally, the two would not flee in the same direction.
Jonathan took the left while Torrence took the right.
Alas, Skylar's mind worked oddly. He was clearly closer to Jonathan, yet he turned around to run after Torrence.
When that happened, Jonathan stopped running and looked toward Skylar.
Both Skylar and Torrence were already far into the distance, so Jonathan did not think there was any need for him to run. He
turned around and picked up Hallowed Sword—the sword Torrence had thrown—and ran after Skylar.
Jonathan's actual cultivation was not as great as Torrence's; the latter could definitely kill the former if he had the sword.
However, Torrence was not as capable as Jonathan.
Jonathan would surely escape if he were the one on the run.
However, Torrence was currently the one getting pursued by Skylar, and Jonathan knew Torrence had lost his sword. He was
worried about Torrence's safety.
The sun had not risen, and the blizzard was still raging.
The vast Snowhaven gave off an endless and desolate feeling.
Even when Jonathan unleashed his techniques to the maximum, he could only spot Skylar's blurry figure.
He moved at incredible speed, constantly following behind the duo.
After he ran for about half an hour, the surrounding scenery changed as fast as lightning. Right then, Skylar stopped.
Jonathan immediately stopped in his tracks as well. Otherwise, he would have crashed into Skylar.
Even so, Jonathan was merely five meters away from Skylar. The long friction marks on the ground were evidence of Jonathan
stopping with great difficulty.
Dude, even drivers don't stop so suddenly.
At that moment, Skylar glared at Jonathan.
Skylar was currently a puppet primordial spirit and didn't seem to be able to talk much.
If Skylar could speak, he would surely ask Jonathan why he was chasing after him.
Jonathan let out a dry chuckle, wanting to tell the man it was just a misunderstanding and bid him farewell.
However, he dared not leave. He had a feeling Skylar would definitely swing out his sword the second he turned around to flee.
Sure enough, lightning shot out of the long sword.
While Jonathan dodged the attack, Skylar struck again like a hungry tiger.
The series of attacks was enough to kill Jonathan.
Meanwhile, Torrence had fallen into a five-meter-deep snow pit ahead.
It was originally a pit, but it was covered by a thick layer of snow, causing Torrence to accidentally fall into it.
However, Skylar did not follow Torrence into the pit. After all, he was no fool. He knew he would be thrown into the air if he
jumped into the pit.
The second he did that, he would lose his balance, and Torrence would seize the opportunity to kill him.
Even if Torrence failed in his first attempt, he would still gain the upper hand.
Besides, Skylar was aware that he was being pursued by Jonathan.
He decided to turn around to face Jonathan instead.
At that moment, Jonathan and Torrence needed to have a high level of wisdom and courage to face Skylar. A simple mistake
could cause them to be wiped out.
Fortunately, neither Jonathan nor Torrence were afraid, and they always made the right judgments in the most dangerous times.
If Jonathan turned around and fled, the situation would get worse.
By then he had realized what was roughly happening, and the gears in his mind spun rapidly.
Despite being in a pit, Torrence knew what was happening outside as well.
The pit was merely five meters deep. With his abilities, he could definitely leap out of it.
Jonathan's plan was to work with Torrence to surround Skylar. Whether or not they could kill him depended on their teamwork.
A glint flashed past Skylar's eyes, and without wasting a second, he leaped forward and charged toward Jonathan. An icy glint
reflected off his sword as he aimed it at Jonathan's throat.
Jonathan narrowed his eyes calmly, looking like a hunter who had been waiting for his prey for a long time and for the right
moment to attack.
He waited until Skylar was close enough before whipping out Hallowed Sword from the spatial ring.
Then, without hesitation, he spun around fiercely with his sword, making the weapon move in a way as if it was eradicating a
small army.
The power of the sword was fierce, and its timing was just right.
Skylar did not expect such a move from Jonathan. Left with no choice, he took a step backward to avoid Jonathan's attack.
Jonathan could only unleash a more ruthless attack. While he spun around, he threw Hallowed Sword right at Skylar as if it was
an arrow shot from a bow whose string was pulled to the limit.
The two attacks came in a single breath. Jonathan had used a lot of strength to spin around.
Like a shooting star, the sword left a trail of sparks in the air.
Skylar looked like a mess. Once again, he leaned over, narrowly evading Hallowed Sword.
The truth was, Skylar could not read Jonathan's moves.
After all, Jonathan was really unpredictable.
It had not been easy for Jonathan to finally get hold of a sword, and a magnificent sword at that. It was the key to helping him
take out Skylar. He shouldn't have thrown it so carelessly. Yet he did it.
To Jonathan, however, Skylar's swordsmanship was terrifying. Since he was not an expert in using swords, holding one would
only put him on the losing end.
More importantly, the sword was flying in Torrence's direction.
Seizing upon an opening, Torrence leaped out of the pit, flew over, and grabbed hold of Hallowed Sword.
At the same time, Jonathan had already pounced on Skylar like a ferocious wolf.
Skylar dodged his opponents continuously, so much so that he was losing his tempo.
Right then, Jonathan found the right moment to attack and got close to Skylar.
Compared to other weapons, swords are light and accurate, suitable for stabbing and splitting things.
The problem is that a close distance is needed to accomplish those moves.
It would be a disaster for Jonathan if he got close to Skylar.
“Dragon Claw Grab!” Jonathan grabbed Skylar's throat with one hand and his chest with the other.
His hands moved in every direction as he attacked his opponent repeatedly.
Skylar could not dodge the attacks in time and could only retreat.
Seeing that, Jonathan hurriedly changed his move, releasing an explosive aura from his body.
He had unleashed the Great Sage Force Field and Great Sage Seal.
The second move was a powerful move that could crush his opponents to death.
The fierce Great Sage Seal covered the sky as it created a resounding rumble.
Fear crept into Skylar's eyes. Naturally, he dared not take the attack lightly.
However, at that moment, there was no hope left for him because Torrence was not a weakling either.
One strike was all it took for Torrence to stab the sword through Skylar's chest from the back.
It was yet another devastating scene.
What was weird was that Skylar's expression did not change. When he had finally put some distance between him and
Jonathan, he slashed his sword the moment Jonathan charged at him again. Seeing that, Jonathan had no choice but to use
Shadow Step to dodge it.
Regardless, Skylar did not stop. He fled right away.
The man was so fast that he was already a hundred meters away in the blink of an eye.
Jonathan and Torrence were utterly stunned.
Damn it. How is that man still so energetic? He's stabbed in the heart, yet he's absolutely fine?
Jonathan and Torrence exchanged puzzled glances.
“His body is already dead. Maybe that's why he can't be killed. We need to destroy his body,” said Jonathan.
Torrence nodded in agreement. “There's no denying that the sword hurt his body. Otherwise, he wouldn't have run away.”
“Damn it. We can't let him mutate and evolve again. I'm sure he's fleeing to the Demon Palace. Come on. Let's go after him. We
won't be able to live peacefully as long as this one's still alive.”
Torrence could not agree with Jonathan more. Without another word, the two whipped out their compasses and searched for
directions. The second they found the Demon Palace's location, they quickly ran in that direction.
After going through multiple life-and-death experiences together, Jonathan and Torrence had grown closer.
Jonathan had showcased his wisdom and capabilities.
That was the biggest reason Torrence respected Jonathan.
Torrence knew full well that it was Jonathan's qualities that helped them resolve the crises.
Even so, it was not the time to dwell on that matter.
Jonathan was still worried about Yeverie. He knew she was still waiting for him at the same spot.
He took a detour when he headed for Demon Palace.
Half an hour later, Jonathan and Torrence found Yeverie.
Handing Yeverie a white vial with medicinal fragrance, Torrence said, “Take this, Yeverie. No matter where you are, we'll be able
to find you by following this fragrance.”
Yeverie could not help but worry. “Will this attract the enemies, too?”
A smile formed on Torrence's face. “Don't worry. This is my secret recipe.”
Torrence's words, however, elicited a strange expression from Jonathan. “I usually don't trust you when you tell someone not to
worry. Maybe your medicinal fragrance is the reason Skylar found us.” Torrence was rendered speechless, which made
Jonathan burst out laughing. “I was just joking. Don't take it so seriously.”
“Forget it. It's better to be more careful. Let's get rid of this.” With that said, Torrence threw the vial away.
Jonathan pondered in silence before saying, “Yeverie, let's make this the central line. Head north for about fifteen kilometers and
find a place nearby to rest. We'll look for you when we're done with our matters.”
Yeverie's eyes lit up instantly. “Okay!” Then, there was a brief pause before she asked uneasily, “Mr. Lawson, Mr. Torrence,
please be careful.”
A burst of hearty laughter escaped Jonathan's throat. “Don't worry. Torrence and I are lucky people. We'll be fine.”
After coming to an agreement, Jonathan left Yeverie enough resources before making his way to Demon Palace with Torrence
without wasting another second.
About three hours later, the sun had risen.
Even the blizzard had come to a stop, leaving the earth covered in white fluffy snow.
At first glance, the scenery looked gorgeous and spectacular.
It was like the boundless universe in winter. However, if one stayed there for a long period of time, they would feel an
indescribable sense of hopelessness.
One could easily feel exhausted by spending too much time looking at white scenery.
Even worse, one could get snow blindness.
Fortunately, Jonathan and Torrence were strong men who did not have to worry about such things.
By then, the two had arrived in front of Demon Palace.
