Chapter 447
Chapter 447 Three Spells
Jonathan asked, “I must admit, I am quite intrigued. As a Holy Golden Knight within the esteemed Supreme Sect, someone who
is held in high regard, what led you to betray them and make your escape?”
Yeverie glanced at Torrence as she had the same question, too.
Torrence's expression turned dark as pain crossed his features. He slowly revealed, “From my earliest memories, I was raised
within Supreme Sect. There was a group of us, children who grew up together, and as time passed, some of us went on to
become Holy Golden Knights, clerics, cardinals, and priests. We were sent to various corners of the country to serve Supreme
Sect. We were close friends. Despite being an orphan, I felt blessed to have the opportunity to serve Theos, to live a privileged
life, to be respected by many, and to have such incredible companions.”
Jonathan and Yeverie exchanged a knowing glance, acknowledging the privileged life that Torrence had experienced within
Supreme Sect.
This only served to intensify their curiosity, prompting them to yearn for more insight into the circumstances that led to Torrence's
betrayal and escape.
Torrence continued, “From a young age, the elders in Supreme Sect instilled in us the belief that Theos was the one and only
God, the most benevolent and radiant deity in the world. They taught us that by faithfully placing our trust in Theos, we would
transcend even in the face of death.”
Such teachings were not uncommon within the realm of religious practice.
Jonathan recognized the familiar dynamics at play. He understood that religion often revolved around faith, and faith was the
very essence of any religious belief system. It was customary for Supreme Sect to encourage their disciples to put their trust in
Theos.
Torrence continued, “Thus, I have always regarded Theos as a great, radiant, and holy presence.”
Jonathan immediately sensed something and asked, “Did you realize something that made you think Theos wasn't that great?”
Torrence gazed at Jonathan as hatred flashed across his eyes. He replied, “Do you know something? Theos is not the
benevolent and virtuous figure she presents herself to be. In truth, she is a shrewd ruler who maneuvered her way to the
pinnacle of power. The religion she promotes serves as a means to consolidate the faith of her disciples, allowing her to
demonstrate her supposed greatness. Additionally, she established the Drago Guards, a group entrusted with locating talented
children throughout the country and bringing them to Supreme Sect for cultivation. It matters little whether the children are
orphans or have families. The Drago Guards would take them away, covertly disposing of their families regardless of the families'
consent.”
Upon hearing Torrence's account, Jonathan couldn't help but think about Lailah and the striking parallels between her
experiences in the Divine Realm and Supreme Sect that Torrence described.
Jonathan became despondent when he thought of Lailah.
Lailah had hidden within the Eonetara Gate as she was upset with the Divine Realm.
Both the Divine Realm and Supreme Sect pretended to be kind, yet beneath that façade resided a merciless and ruthless
essence.
Jonathan asked solemnly, “Torrence, were your parents murdered by the Drago Guards?”
Torrence replied, “The existence of the Drago Guards is Supreme Sect's biggest secret. I stumbled upon their existence by
chance during a mission, and I managed to track down and interrogate one of the Drago Guards, which led me to uncover their
hidden secret. Through my investigations, I gradually unraveled the truth. I consider myself fortunate in this regard, as I
happened to be an orphan.”
After a brief pause, he continued, “Nevertheless, I can no longer bear the hypocrisy of Supreme Sect. From as far back as I can
remember, I took great pride in being a disciple of Supreme Sect. However, my faith has been shattered upon uncovering the
dark secret of the Drago Guards. I can no longer remain within the confines of the sect. Moreover, it is only a matter of time
before the higher-ups discover my investigation into the Drago Guards. Given that the Drago Guards are their most closely
guarded secret and have committed numerous crimes, they would not hesitate to eliminate me. They have been relentlessly
pursuing me to prevent the truth from being exposed to the public. I believe they have covered their tracks extensively, making it
nearly impossible for outsiders to uncover anything should an investigation take place now.”
Jonathan pointed out, “However, it doesn't appear that Supreme Sect is going all out to eliminate you. Moose and others may
have the ability to kill you, but it would prove challenging for them. If your betrayal is truly regarded as a top priority by the sect,
why haven't they unleashed their full force to apprehend you? I believe they have the capability to do so.”
Torrence clarified, “My betrayal is a deep disgrace to Supreme Sect, and it is also a well-guarded secret. They haven't exposed it
to the public, ensuring that no one else is aware of it. Therefore, Supreme Sect must maintain a low profile. Additionally, Moose
possesses numerous concealed weapons, making it effortless for them to eliminate me. If you hadn't arrived unexpectedly, I
would have already met my demise.”
“Moose have other secret weapons?” Jonathan asked. “I checked his storage ring but didn't discover anything special.”
Torrence elaborated, “The magic gem was his hidden weapon. He likely possessed other distinctive spells as well, although he
didn't have the opportunity to utilize them since you defeated him. Supreme Sect had confidence in his ability to eliminate me.”
Jonathan nodded. “I see. After all, his Fire Phoenixes nearly took your life.”
Torrence continued, “Thus, the averted crisis owes much to luck, primarily because you killed Moose. If you hadn't gained his
trust and happened to be by his side, it wouldn't have been so easy for us to eliminate them. The presence of a Magician is
extremely terrifying.”
Jonathan replied, “That's right. In the main world, the first target we aim to eliminate in an e-sports game is usually the wizard!”
“What is an e-sports game?” Torrence was baffled.
Jonathan chuckled. “Well, it's something from the main world. You wouldn't understand even if I explain it to you.”
Hearing that, Torrence stopped pursuing the matter.
Jonathan exclaimed, “Let's see if Moose's storage ring holds any of those valuable items you mentioned.” He then proceeded to
search through Moose's storage ring.
Shortly after, Jonathan found three different spells.
He spread the three spells out and asked, “Are these the spells you talked about? By the way, how did you know Moose had
these in possession?”
Torrence nodded in agreement. “Indeed, Supreme Sect must have carefully selected and equipped Moose for his mission. They
have access to many skilled Magicians who would have provided him with powerful spells. Although I don't fully comprehend the
intricacies of these spells, their mere presence in Moose's possession indicates their effectiveness and value.”
