I am Alpha (Book 1 of I Am series)

Chapter 18

Sam P.O.V

I woke up in bed, I could hear everyone talking downstairs. I had no idea how I was suppose to explain me being missing for two weeks to my father. I must have fallen asleep after the doctor cleaned my wounds. Than I heard Cole yelling. “How the hell did he escape?” He yelled.

Oh no. ‘He’s not talking about who I think he is, is he?’ I asked Leah worriedly.

‘I certainly hope not.’ Leah replied.

I got out of bed and headed downstairs. As I was coming downstairs, Cole started yelling again. “Get everyone out there, and look for him. Check everywhere. But go to Sam’s house first.” He yelled.

He stopped looking at who ever the pack member was and turned to me. “Sam, hey, you alright.” Cole said in a soothing voice.

“It’s Brendan,” I said, pausing, his face darkened, “isn’t it?” I asked.

He looked to his pack member. He must of been using mind link, because the pack member left. Cole then turned back to me. He nodded slowly, I felt tears well up in my eyes, but I blinked them back.

“How? When?” I asked.

“I don’t know how, it was about five minutes ago.” He said with sincerity.

“I told them to check your house first. To see if your dad’s alright.” Cole said slowly taking a step towards me every few seconds, until he stopped in front of me.

“Are you alright.” He said furrowing his eyebrows.

“I’m fine.” I said a little to quickly.

“You know, it’s alright, to admit that your not okay.” Cole said reassuringly.

“I told you I’m fine.” I snapped.

“Fine then.” He snapped back and walked out of the house.

I just realised Zaya, Jo, Leo and Hannah were sat on the lounge, looking worried.

“He’s right, you know. You can’t keep pretending everything’s alright.” Zaya said softly.

“Not you too. I can’t......I can’t...handle everyone pretending like I’m fragile. Just please don’t.” I said using my hands.

I walked out of the living area and to the door. When I got out side Cole was sitting on the grass, looking pale.

“Cole?” I asked. “I didn’t mean to snap.” I said as I sat next to him. He didn’t look at me, didn’t speak didn’t even move an inch.

“Cole?” I asked again.

“Brendan.” Was all he said.

Cole P.O.V Before Sam came out of the house:

‘Why is she so aggravating?’ I asked Stan, again I keep asking Stan and myself the same questions, but there never answered. I stormed out of the house and sat on the grass to cool off.

‘Alpha, we’re at Sam’s house. It isn’t good.’ Trevor said through mindlink.

‘Why? What happened?’ I asked.

‘It’s Sam’s dad. He’s.....he’s....

Sam P.O.V After Sam came out of the house:

“What about Brendan, apart from the obvious that he got away?” I asked him.

He now turned to look at me, Cole grabbed my hands and squeezed them.

“It’s your dad, Trevor found...” Cole started but I didn’t want to hear the rest of it, I didn’t want it to be true.

I jumped up out of Cole’s reach. “No, don’t, no, your lying.” I screamed, tears were flowing down my face like a water fall.

“Your lying.” I yelled again pointing at him.

Cole jumped up, as I ran and ran, he chased after me. I pushed my legs as fast as they could go, all of my cuts were screaming at me in pain as I ran. Cole was right behind me. “Leave me alone.” I screamed pushing myself harder.

“Sam, stop.” He screamed after me.

“No.” I screamed back.

He gained on me and tackled me to the ground. I winced in pain. “I’m sorry Sam, he’s gone.” He said, holding me as I bellowed.

“He can’t be.” I cried.

“I’m so sorry.” Cole said quietly.

“Nooo.” I cried again.

After about an hour, I had calmed down. And Cole was still holding me. My eyes were probably red and puffy, my cheeks were still wet from tears.

I was exhausted after all of that. “Come on let’s get you home.” He whispered, effortlessly picking me up bridal style, like he has many times before. Home? Home? Where was my home now my father was gone.
